19.01.2022 convic had a great week in hedland getting heaps of idea for the new space from a space to have parties, visiting artists to calling the space creative space monkey club! It was really good to revisit the schools who previously contributed some amazing ideas that have helped shape the initial design. From here we will try and incorporate all the new ideas into some more developed plans i.e. 3D coloured plans.... In the mean time if you have anymore ideas for the space put them on this page or alternatively email them to ned(at)convic.com. cheers wade

19.01.2022 Skate Park Workshops, how were they? An article from the NWT about the first workshop in South Hedland Skate Park. The second workshop was more than successful as well with a lot of people coming and enjoying the activation of the Port Hedland Skate Park facilitie.... Thanks all for coming, see you soon ! Olivier

16.01.2022 Lets what seems a barrier become a path Rabindranath Tagore. With this in mind how can we use the required boundary between the new Skatepark and the Aquatic Centre. Could it be used for exhibitions, bouldering, sports etc... Suggest your ideas.

15.01.2022 Check out the HARTZ facebook page. Certainly leading some amazing workshops and resulting pieces. Definitely a great opportunity to incorporate their efforts into the Youth Space. https://www.facebook.com/HARTZHedlandArtsCouncil

12.01.2022 Hard-flip off the flat bank between laser flips and double backside kickflips...

12.01.2022 Thinking of alternative ways of representing the sponsors in the space. Rather then a simple sign can we have something that gets used i.e. skate element, seating, pattern in the surface etc... Check the image for a skateable element that could be incorporated. Love to hear other ideas.

07.01.2022 Currently sketching away on the new Skatepark and Youth Space. Developing the schematic design (as shown in earlier posts) to continue moving forward and to include everyones ideas. Looking at how people will be entering the space. Tell us where you think most people will be coming from - The town centre OR from Forrest Circle?

07.01.2022 Design of the space is coming along nicely... trying to include all of the ideas that come up during our last consultations. Please keep sending the ideas through for the design competition.

05.01.2022 Last week Olivier (Council) and Wade (Enlocus) spent time in the Community heading to primary schools, JD Hardie, the Skatepark and many more places to find out your thoughts about the draft design. It was great chatting to everyone again and to see the excitement about this new exciting Skatepark and Youth Space. Now we have to go through all of the completed surveys to summarise all of the latest ideas. Please note that there are still more forms at the JD Hardie building... if you missed out or message us here and we can send one out, we can still include more of your great ideas in the space. From here we are going to finalise the design with all of your ideas noted down and will be back in Hedland at the end of February to show everyone the final design. We are hoping to get some key youth from Hedland to help present the design to the Community and to be involved in how to design a Skatepark. Keep checking back here, JD, YIC and the local paper to find out information as we keep moving closer to your new space. Please post up any comments on the draft design and more of your ideas. Thanks Olivier and Wade
