21.01.2022 Beneath the Mountain: A History of South Hobart has been written by Dr Alison Alexander (https://www.facebook.com/alisonalexanderwriter), winner of the prestigious 2014 National Biography Award. The 360-page book has been exquisitely designed by graphic designer Julie Hawkins of In Graphic Detail. More than 700 historic and current photographs, paintings, maps and sketches, many in vibrant colour, give life to the fascinating text. 18.01.2022 Befrore we were given a copy of "Beneath the Mountain: A History of South Hobart", we expected a pamphlet size potted history of this Hobart region. No....... ...Alison Andrews and her co-workers have produced a magnificent publication which should grace the shelves of all Hobartians and anyone with their own history, contemporary or historical, involving Hobart, South or otherwise. The work is perfectly organised, both chronologically and topically, with anecdotes throughout which keep the reader fascinated. The illustrations are comprehensive - paintings and photographs of the highest order with sources quoted. It is a work to read now and peruse forever! Highly recommended. See more
