19.01.2022 **Year Six Sausage Sizzle** Today Steve and Mrs Yarran cooked the Year 6 students a sausage sizzle lunch to thank them for all the help they have given Steve around the school throughout the year.

18.01.2022 ** 2021 In-Term Swimming Lessons** Education Department swimming lessons for all Pre-Primary to Year 6 students will be held in Term 1 during Weeks 2 and 3, Monday 8th - Friday 19th February. 16.01.2022 **Nature Inspired Games** As a part off HASS, the Year Ones in Room 1 have been learning about ‘Past and Present’. They have been thinking about how different it would’ve been as child in the past - ‘What games could they have played ‘ They designed and created their own games using materials found in nature. After working cooperatively in these, they wrote letters inviting Ms Grant to come and join them in playing the games.

10.01.2022 **Year 3/4 STEM Day** Students in Room 8 have learned about the disastrous effects of oil spills on the ocean. They made a model of an oil spill and then made a boom to contain It, then they used skimmers, absorbents and dispersants to clean up the oil spill in the ocean. Students of room 9 learnt about what defines a robot, robots we use in everyday life and how robots affect human life. They then designed their own robots with a specific purpose and made them out of recycled materials.

06.01.2022 **Deep Blue: Innovations for the future of our oceans** As part of our Science Week activities, today all classes met with Peta Osborne from the Goldfields Museum to discuss the technologies, capabilities and skills needed to achieve environmental sustainability for our oceans. Everybody had lots fun getting hands on with the shell collection and creating artworks with them, and designing a new invention to keep the oceans clean. ... Museum of the Goldfields

06.01.2022 **Colour Run** As part of our 2020 engagement initiative, all eligible Pre-primary to Year 6 students will be given the opportunity to participate in our Colour Run on the 4th of December. If you do not want your child to participate, please contact the school office.

05.01.2022 **Artist-in-residence** Today Rooms 11 & 12 enjoyed a visit from Ms Grant, who worked with them to create a gift from the Year Sixes to the school. To add some privacy and colour to our new nature playground, they have started decorating some fencing pickets in their own image. We look forward to seeing the final works of art.

05.01.2022 **Lightning Carnival** Congratulations to the Year Fives and Sixes that represented South Kalgoorlie Primary School at the Summer Lightning Carnival today. They showed fantastic sportsmanship and team spirit during their many rounds of games. Our Tee Ball Team 1 came away with a trophy for their efforts. Team 2 also won several of their games. ... Our Rugby Team 1 finished the day undefeated, while Team 2 won 5 and drew 1 of the games. Thank you to Ms Carmody, Mrs Sambo, Brandon George and Cherrie Whalley for all your help with managing the teams.

03.01.2022 **Inflatable Fun Day** Thank you to Jenelle and Nathan Dellar of KCLD Cleaning and Kay-Chlo-La's Ice Cream Van for the fantastic day that was had by all students. In an effort to re-build our attendance figures after the interruption by COVID earlier in the year, we reached out to the community to help us celebrate our students who have improved their attendance. That call was answered by Jenelle and Nathan who provided our students with a day of inflatable fun followed by an... ice cream. This event is the first in a cycle of fun and engaging experiences that will take place each term. Stay tuned to find out how to receive an invitation to next term’s event.
