21.01.2022 We have received lots of well wishes, flowers, chocolates and even a song from our SMPS parents for World Teachers’ Day! One of them was this beautiful arrangement. We are deeply grateful for our wonderful parent community!

18.01.2022 These little guys have been reading The Princess and the Pea in their class this week. This afternoon, they are taking a pea home to put under their mum’s pillows. We wonder if their mums will feel the pea and be deemed a princess?

15.01.2022 Day 3 of Book Week Today, our Preps had an author visit to celebrate Book Week. They met Sue Degennaro who wrote and illustrated the book 'We're Stuck' that we shared Mr Noel reading on Monday. The Preps all listened to Sue's stories and concentrated so well when drawing some characters. They can't wait to meet Jackie French tomorrow!

13.01.2022 Day 4 of Book Week And that's a wrap! What a wonderful Book Week we have had! Here are a few extra pictures from throughout the week. We hope the long weekend provides a much-needed rest after all this excitement!
12.01.2022 We are running various lessons throughout NAIDOC Week exploring different themes and questions. One of these questions is What do Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples mean when they say they are connected to the land? This has encouraged Grade 1 to explore the meaning of ‘connection’. To help them, the students in Grade 1 have read stories like ‘Cooee Mittigar’ and ‘Brother Moon’. In their writing activity this week, the students wrote about the places that are special to them and where they feel they have a connection. Here are some lovely samples of their writing.

10.01.2022 Book Week was off to a great start today! Across the floors, students began to explore the shortlisted books from the Children's Book Council of Australia through video, Kahoot...and of course reading! Stay tuned for Mr Noel's video to be shared on Facebook tonight. It was so popular at school that we thought we'd share it for a bedtime story too!

05.01.2022 Day 1 of Book Week Bedtime Story! We are so lucky to have one of the world's best story readers - Mr Noel, as our Principal. To share the fun of Book Week with families, we thought we would share a video of his reading that brought lots of joy to the kids today. We hope it is a great bedtime story for the kids (and maybe even some adults!). Want more bedtime readings by Mr Noel? Let us know! He says he doesn't make videos for less than $10 000, but you might be able to convince him! https://www.loom.com/share/2a1f8825375b49839746e2fa145ccee8

04.01.2022 At SMPS we are celebrating NAIDOC Week. Today, Grade 1s heard the Bundjil Creation Story and created artwork based on the story. Throughout the week the rest of the school will also be involved in a similar activity with the aim of creating the full story in images throughout the school. Look out for images showing our work on Friday.
02.01.2022 Lunch time helpers! Today some of our students wanted to get in on the fun of cleaning the windows with our wonderful maintenance man Mr Reno. They did a fantastic job and the windows are super clean! Thanks Reno for taking the time to share this important life skill!
01.01.2022 Woodworking fun up in Grade 1! This week in Grade 1, students have been building their very own cars! The kids have learned how to safely use a hammer and nails. They even got to design and paint the cars once they were built.
