24.01.2022 Hello SMPG! Hope you are all well and safe. As a teacher myself, I am missing that face to face interaction with students. I love sitting down in front of a grade and sharing a book with them. So, I have stepped completely out of my comfort zone abs have recorded a story for you to share with your kids if you wish! I have included an activity to go with the book too.... With ANZAC Day approaching, I have quite the collection of Picture Book for this topic. I can read some of these too if you wish. Hope you enjoy- and I hope this works! Technology almost defeated me! My first shared book is, ‘Where is the Green Sheep?’ By Mem Fox. Activity will be in the comments. Xx See more

21.01.2022 Good Afternoon SMPG Members This morning when we attended Playgroup we were informed that The City of Whittlesea has made the decision to cancel all non-essential events and gatherings for the foreseeable future. This extends to all events, programs and group activities that occur within Council-owned buildings and facilities from tomorrow, Wednesday 18 March 2020 until further notice. ... Unfortunately, playgroup fits into this. This decision has been made following the lead from the State Government and other councils in light of the current global coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. We understand that this interruption to your community group will come with impacts. Council will work with community groups throughout this difficult time and groups will be reimbursed where applicable. This decision has not been made lightly, however, it is necessary to ensure we remain vigilant about protecting ourselves, and each other, during this time. Council asks that all residents, businesses and visitors to the City to continue following the advice of DHHS on hygiene and safety practices. Visit www.dhhs.vic.gov.au/coronavirus for more.

14.01.2022 Are you interested in joining SMPG in 2021? We have lots of vacancies for next year. And especially for new groups. 2020 has seen many changes for us all and playgroup seems to be no exception! We currently have the hall on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings- there may be flexibility with this. ... It would be perfect for mother’s groups that have formed this year (or any year) who wish to organise a regular semi-formal catch up session. SMPG is a parent run, not for profit organisation that always strives to stay a low cost and welcoming activity for families with babies up to preschool age. We have a fully stocked storeroom, full of toys and activities appropriate from infancy up to preschool. Please contact us if you are interested, and include days you are interested in and if you are wishing to join as part of a pre-formed group or individual family unit. Merry Christmas to everybody- we hope you all enjoy the festivities that little bit more this year
14.01.2022 Good Morning SMPG members What a week it has been! Just thought we’d give you an update on what these current circumstances mean for Playgroup. As you are aware, we were to resume Playgroup next week. We were so excited to have our families back and see you all. We had booked to clean our store room on Tuesday just gone. ... Council informed us earlier on Tuesday about their restrictions with numbers in the community centres. With their numbers in mind, we decided to postpone our clean up. Then obviously we are now back in Stage 3 restrictions. This means means another minimum six weeks until we can resume sessions. We’ve done this before and we can do it again. Our thoughts are with you all and please reach out to family and friends if you are feeling overwhelmed. We’re here too if you need a chat. Take care and stay safe xx SMPG Committee See more

08.01.2022 Hello SMPG families! We hope you are all well and looking forward to some normality as restrictions begin to be lifted. As you would be aware by now, restrictions are lifting on June 1st. This means that Playgroup can return. Yay!... For this, I am waiting for some communication from Whittlesea Council about the process for the hall. Hopefully I can get some clarity tomorrow. To ensure safety and health of all our wonderful members, the Committee is going to organize an evening to clean the equipment in the Store Room. We will let you know when this date will be. We can’t wait for Playgroup to return so the children (and adults!) can reunite with their friends. Watch this page for further updates. Thanks for your support and patience SMPG Committee
