20.01.2022 Always was, always will be. Recognising that First Nations people have occupied and cared for this continent for over 65,000 years. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people were Australia’s first explorers, first navigators, first engineers, first farmers, first botanists, first scientists, first diplomats, first astronomers and first artists.... NAIDOC week 2020 acknowledges and celebrate that our nation’s story didn’t begin with documented European contact whether in 1770 or 1606 - with the arrival of the Dutch on the western coast of the Cape York Peninsula. The very first footprints on this continent were those belonging to First Nations peoples. NAIDOC 2020 invites all Australians to embrace the true history of this country - a history which dates back thousands of generations. #NAIDOC2020 #NAIDOC #NAIDOCWeek

01.01.2022 LOCKDOWN. SHAVE DOWN. GET DOWN. Men’s health is in crisis. Men are dying on average 6 years earlier than women, and for largely preventable reasons. Unchecked, prostate cancer rates will double over the next 15 years. Globally, testicular cancer is the most common cancer among men aged 15-39 years of age. And across the world, one man dies by suicide every minute of every day, which makes accounting for 75% of all suicides.... That is why some of our courageous staff members at South Oakleigh College will be participating in Movember 2020. Though some may find it more difficult then others, these men will grow out their breads and raise awareness for men’s health. If you find yourself moustache-impaired you can still get involved by taking part in Moving for Movember! Our very own Mr Wilson has set himself the challenge to RUN 125km, RIDE 600km, and SWIM 15km in the month of November to promote better health outcomes for men. If you want to know more about what they are doing, and how, head to their website! au.movember.com/?home Donations are greatly appreciated and go towards a great cause! If you have the ability to donate please follow this link: https://movember.com/t/south-oakleigh-stach?mc=1
