16.01.2022 Dear mother-with-the-baby-near-Fremantle-train-station-this-morning. Can I just say that that in that moment you looked at your baby and adjusted their blanket ...you were so completely beautiful. You probably weren’t feeling that, maybe you only felt half put together and windswept or desperate for coffee but my goodness that glow! I had to start my day with a little sketch in charcole of all things. CHARCOLE @karen_blair_illustrations , if you can believe it? Because I needed to touch the paper and relive that little moment. I’m probably extra nostalgic since my babies are now little children and those baby days are over for me (I’m sure!) But it reminded me that so often we don’t know we are beautiful. Like when you look back at photos of your teenage self and can’t imagine why you felt so insecure? And then you look back at photos of yourself as a new mother and think, I was so young and beautiful even though I was tired. Anyway, I saw you and your baby saw you and you were lovely. #motherhood #charcoaldrawing #brionystewartillustration
