The Peace in the Pacific reception at the Chief of Mission Residence included top Fijian government officials, colleagues in the diplomatic corps, and military forces, whose countries were in some way engaged or impacted by the war in the Pacific, and have worked in partnership for the last 75 years to maintain peace in the region. Ambassador Cella gave remarks to commemorate the occasion along with representatives of the Government of Fiji and the Embassy of Japan. See more
18.01.2022 If ever a nation needed prayer in our South Pacific region it is West Papua.
17.01.2022 My friends, here is a story of what happened at a village in Papua New Guinea called Banak. My parents were the first Christian missionaries to step foot in thi...s village. One special Sunday in 1980, half of this village gave there hearts to the Lord when the Gospel was preached! There were people/haters throwing rocks from the side of the road but not one rock hit the people heading to the ocean to be baptised. It was a miracle to see all the rocks falling short or in the middle of the group. The people of the village called this event The People Movement I share this testimony because I know that it’s Australia’s time! Right now, we are wanting to release a sound throughout Australia that will echo across the Pacific ocean towards the nations. We will shake the foundations of the earth with the sound of revival! We will see revived hearts letting out a roar for the king of Kings for the first time! This roar will be so loud that all creation will know that He is Lord. We will begin to prepare the way for Him in what has become a wilderness of dry bones. He will come in His power and send His government to be established over cities, regions and nations, where once stood evil strongholds and powers, there He will stand in His Glory! We are in communication with council for beach permits for public baptism and worship events to see God do it again in our nation. I believe it’s time like never before for the gospel to be preached and for people to be awoken to who they are and who they have been called to be! The only History that will ever change Australia is His-story! It’s time for the church to stop worrying about the persecution we could receive and start running to the highways, byways and beaches to tell people the good news! For so long people have trusted in the system of man, but now that it’s crumbling, it’s a time like no other for us to show them the Great I am, the Cornerstone, the Saviour and King! Will you join us to lift up the name of Jesus across the nation of Australia? Will you partner with us? Would you sow into this? Either way, we have felt a mandate to Go! So we are going!
12.01.2022 We are rejoicing at this answer to prayer.

08.01.2022 A letter to all Fijians here and abroad, Ni sa bula. My name is Sitiveni Ligamamada Rabuka. SOME know me, MOST have heard of me, MANY have only heard about m...e. In the last 20years following my term from 1992 to 1999 as Prime Minister, I have come to know who I really am and who I should become. In 1987 as a Lieutenant Colonel in the Army I executed a coup and took Fiji backward by some years, creating a bad culture that others followed and continue the downward spiral. The past I can’t change but the future I can and I will! TWO Years ago I was challenged by a group of successful international and local men and women to do something about what I had spoilt for Fiji. They inspired me to use my military, political, and people leadership skills to reshape the Fiji that our Grandchildren can survive and grow in. They said they would join me if I would stand up and give back what I took away. I have taken up the challenge and dreamt a dream! The I has become WE as my challengers have joined me in the fight for change! What would we like Fiji to look like 5 years from now! Imagine if Fiji could look like this; A Nation at Peace; A Nation of Opportunities; A Nation of Growth; A Nation that despises corruption & monopolies: A Nation that can rise up from poverty; A Nation that truly cares for the poor, the widows, the orphans; A Nation the world can admire; A Nation that can educate, develop, mentor tomorrow’s youth; A Nation the world wants to visit; A Nation that embraces sportsmanship; A Nation that understands that prevention is the answer to health care; A Nation with a Recognized Military Force redeployed to build Fiji infrastructure, serve Fiji and not just the world; A nation that upholds the Charter of the United Nations, and continues to provide troops and civilians for Peacekeeping, and honours the various UN Charters especially the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples and ILO Convention 169; A Nation the world will invest in and care for and admire. At 72 years old, some will say I am too old, some will say I have had my days and we need a young leader without the baggage of the past. All fair comments, but 72 is just a number, I am fighting fit, motivated to empower tomorrow's young leaders and with baggage, comes wisdom and wisdom only comes from a history of learning from your and others' mistakes. I believe in sharing leadership by identifying those with talent and passion about building a new Fiji. WE NEED TO FUTURE-PROOF FIJI WE NEED TO ADD the NEW to the OLD not Change the new for the old. Let’s create a better Recipe with fresh ingredients to focus on a new future. Let’s take Fiji from a nation Pulled by the Past and become a Nation Focused on the Future. I have been humbled and broken in the last years all for a good reason. I stand before you now a NEW Rabuka and ask for you to join me to FUTURE PROOF Fiji. We can, God being our Helper! AMEN Thank you, Shukria, Dhaanyabaad, Vinaa Valevu.
08.01.2022 Powerful repentance.
07.01.2022 RESIST: STAND OUTSIDE OF THE BOX ! I would be called a ‘spear’ (updated: Actual word was derived from the PNG-Bougainville crisis to mention the SBIA, South B...ougainville Interim Army) a term used by Guadalcanalese during the ethnic crisis of the Solomons 20 years ago to describe a mole, spy or a traitor. This is because instead of standing alongside most Guadalcanalese who supported the China switch, I remain staunchly opposed to it. The move was supported by the Guadalcanal Provincial Assembly and actually championed by some leading Guadalcanal members of parliament. As such, the support for the switch filtered down to rural Guadalcanal. Amongst these are the support from leading community figures and chiefs. Many on the Guadalcanal side of the political debate actually bought into the central government’s narrative of China as the Economical saviour to the tiny South Pacific islands country. To some degree, I believe it would be so as well. For years, China is Solomon Islands biggest trading partner therefore the switch makes sense, at least on face value. Many rural Guadalcanal farmers and business people are actually banking on China opening its market with a genuine expectation that when that happens, more revenue will be pumped into our rural economies therefore leading to an improved standard of living. As is natural in the Solomons, regionalism plays a massive role in national politics. Western Provincial Assembly, representing the country’s second largest most populous province and a traditional Guadalcanal ally was already on Guadalcanal’s side in support of the China switch. Malaita provincial assembly however is strongly opposed to this switch. With its own interests and objectives, Malaita’s defiance has led to a number of knocking and shaking to every fabric and levels of the make up of Solomon Islands as a nation. A NATION OF NATIONS The Greek word for ‘Nation’ is ‘ethne’. In its simple definition, a nation is a group of people with a distinct culture and language. According to this definition, me, a person from Central Guadalcanal I’m from the Malango nation, people from Tasimboko are a different nation. Regardless of the island coasts creating physical borders, the Solomon Islands alone is a nation of 80 plus nations (ethnes) marked by their own unique culture(or subculture) and language, regardless of the physical island each group is found on. Though various groups on an island share much similarities as opposed to those on other islands, the fact remains we are a Nation of Nations! I am illuminating this point to bring home the reality that Solomon Islanders are regional in nature, this was evident in our long tribal war histories, the ethnic crisis 20 years ago and pretty much anything else in between. The term ‘wantok system’ could be loosely translated as regionalism. This is not to be confused with the concept of ‘mateship’ as is referred to in Australia or ‘brotherhood’ anywhere else. Regionalism or ‘wantok system’ is an unspoken code, yet it effects almost your every way of living. It is your identity, your obligation and you are socially expected to be part of one in the Solomon Islands Community and this demands loyalty. As such, as a person from Guadalcanal, though unspoken, I am expected to be where the majority of Guadalcanal is. Though unspoken, I am expected to be loyal to my nation (Malango) as such is my identity, as such is my social obligation to my elders and my leaders. Choosing otherwise will be seen as a form of betrayal. Many Guadalcanal people today are caught in the crosshair of where to stand, even the elites have to choose, though they know they can freely choose and can freely think, the choice of loyalty to them is very much dictated by the question of identity, regionalism and somehow the unspoken code of loyalty to your nation (ethne). BREAKING OUT OF THE BOX I have been occasionally accused of being brainwashed by the West. Little do people know that in the last 15 years I have served in various countries under various forms of governments. From the autonomous region of Aceh in Indonesia to the streets of Seoul, Republic of South Korea, from the streets of Kuala Lumpur to the beautiful East Coast of Queensland, I am confident to say I have good authority to judge for myself what is best for the Solomon Islands. The danger of being caught up in the regionalism mentality is the lack of impartiality when it comes to the judging of affairs effecting the country. Situations are rarely judged in their own merit as people take the easy way out, follow the common narrative and just hang in there day after day accumulating ideas that would further justify why the path we’ve chosen is the right one. A friend once asked me, Israel, where does your loyalty lies, is it with your family, culture, church, province or nation? Which comes first? My answer then was my loyalty is towards my values in life, it is still my answer today. My values are freedom, loyalty, integrity, honesty, hardwork, truthfulness, responsibility, fairness, justice, love, impartiality.. this list could still go on. My values are my campus in life, they are my standards. Much of these values become principles that guide my everyday living. What does this mean now that I am back in my own nation? It means I am judging affairs according to the standards of my values and principles. For example, regionalism or wantok system says do not report your brother’s crime to the police, principle tells me to be truthful and fair. Regionalism says I should not criticise a western expat not living up to our country’s laws, principle tells me no one is above another, we all must respect the laws of the host country, be it a local, a westerner or an Asian. I have lived in Australia in the last couple of years and have called it my second home. Do I love Australia? Absolutely ! Do I love everything about Australia? Absolutely not ! C’mon the Eastern Brown is no fun ! I am a Solomon Islander, do I love the Solomons? absolutely! Do I love everything about the Solomons? Absolutely not ! C’mon, Malaria is no fun ! Picking a side for me in the current geo-political debate is not as simple as 1,2,3. It’s not black or white either ! Picking a side for me in the current geopolitical debate is actually picking Solomon Islands first. It’s not China first, not the USA either, the attitude of looking up to some else to come fix our problem is a children’s mentality. It is dependency mentality. We will never be independent if we do not take the time to fix what really is wrong with our country first. On this ground, I am able to break that box of regionalism, try to be impartial, judge a situation according to its own merit guided by my principles and values in life. CHINA IS NOT THE SAVIOUR If and when my car breaks down, what’s the point of hiring a tow truck to tow me everyday to travel to work or shop? I’d rather hire a mechanic, do a complete overhaul of my car’s insides, identify the problem, provide the correct diagnosis and get my car fixed no matter how expensive the exercise might become! Jumping to any particular country to fix our country is exactly like looking for a tow truck. Solomon Islands have very serious internal problems, actually corruption is eating away at the core of our public offices like cancer, even in the private sector. Solomon Islanders through our government must first deal with the issue of corruption in our nation. Solomon Islanders through our government institutes must fix the mechanisms of governance in our public offices, strengthen that which is weak , change what needs be and champion that which needs it the most. These are the underlying problem within our nation, it needs to be fixed first, then we go after China or the USA for mutually beneficial trade deals. Without fixing these problems, whatever the government officials or media mouth pieces say is simply obsolete! We will remain to see the rich getting richer and the poor getting poorer. China’s motivation for world dominance is no secret. It’s in every presidential speeches, propaganda and publicly accessible documents online. It’s like someone making a speech in Honiara about wanting to steal my land, then organise a party for me to attend whilst pretending I’ve never heard about the Honiara speech. Why would I attend that meeting if I knew he was intending to entice me into acquiring my land ?! That’s exactly what China is doing not only to the Solomons but the rest of the world. If a country wants to be a friend, come and be a friend without any ulterior motives. More and more, what we’re seeing is a sacrifice of long term benefits for short term gains. I am willing to bet that after the honeymoon period of the switch lapses, our country will come to regret why the decision to usher China in was a very big mistake ! BREAK YOUR BOX Dear Guadalcanal people, I know that I will be persecuted (criticised, ridiculed) for this piece, but I could never emphasise this enough, we must never look to others to come and save us! China will not save our province be it Economical or social or physical if corruption remains the main hinderance to development in our country. Whilst the Guadalcanal people are very honorable people, we must never allow dependency mentality to destroy us. We must go back to toil the land. If you love this province, keep it safe deep within your hearts and never allow anyone to destroy our God given rights to work, toil and build our own land. We can do this on our own, in fact our ancestors have survived for centuries on this beautiful land without outside influence or help. We must stand united, resist dependency mentality, eradicate corruption, break the box of regionalism and free ourselves by looking up to the sky, where our true help comes from. May God bless Guadalcanal, may we be truely free! Israel Trevor Sibia Central Guadalcanal Constituency Solomon Islands

03.01.2022 What we love most about Clean Water 4 Life is that the new wells bring such relief to the women and children who otherwise have to walk miles carrying heavy buckets containing polluted water.
02.01.2022 This conversation gave confirmation to the revelations we are being given in the South Pacific House of Prayer. A great shift is coming to our region as we come into alignment with God’s plans for Australia, New Zealand and the islands of the South Pacific.
