25.01.2022 Monthly Meeting 14 JULY 2018 Not just well attended meeting, another record. Attendance of 58 (49 members and 9 visitors). We had visits from Southside Philatelic Society and City of Brisbane Philatelic Society with their Circuit Books and three dealers. The bargain table had plenty of interested collectors and the auction with 80 lots had some brisk bidding and only two lots passed in. Another great result. ... This meeting also saw the first use of the new Circuit Book cabinets. These hardy boxes were constructed by members Frank and Bruce with assistance from the Mens Club. As can be seen in the photos they are an wonderful asset and certainly greater protection for the books when they are being used or transported. Well done lads. Organisation for our Annual Stamp Fair on 8th September is well under way. The frames for the Inter Club Competition have been received and we have five members wanting to participate in our clubs display. The next meeting is the last before the Annual Stamp Fair so any new visitors more than welcome. Next Meeting: 11 August General Meeting, Club Circuit Books, One Page display competition and Visit from members from Ipswich Stamp Club

20.01.2022 Annual Stamp Fair 14th September 2019 The weather was great and the turnout impressive with over 100 members and interested parties in attendance for our annual Stamp Fair. The event was officially opened by Division 2 Councilor, William Owen-Jones. The crowd flocked in and began searching for elusive items. Patrons were well serviced as there were nine dealers in attendance who apparently had fairly good trade and we thank them for their support. Dealers in attendance were: ...Darren Killeen, Nick Rolfe, Richard Gale, Brisbane Stamps (Troy Sequira): Craig Chappell, Shane Criss, Fred Luis, Simon Hay, and El Jay Stamps. We also had great support from a good number of surrounding Clubs, represented by Twin Towns, Sherwood, Logan City, Caloundra, Ennogera, Junction Park and Ipswich. With this number of clubs there was a plethora of Circuit Books to peruse and plenty of eager collectors wanting to search through them. The Auction held 136 Lots with 95% sold with very good bidding and a number lots selling in the three figure area and our auctioneer Rob performed admirably. Overall, the day was regarded as very successful and we look forward to our next meeting and some more new members. As stated previously we mounted a small display and information Booth at the Helensvale Library in August as part of Seniors Week. 15.01.2022 October and November Report 2019 It has been a very busy and exciting month with our October meeting held 12th October and 33 members and 2 visitors. Smaller attendance than we are used to but we had a number away travelling and 8 apologies. The lower numbers also were reflected with the auction containing 59 lots and 90% sold. Sunday 3rd November 19 of our members ventured out to Ipswich for their Stamp Fair. Very well organized event and most members were able to make some ...new acquisitions. This event was also the host for this years Inter Club Competition. There were four entries and our Southport Club has now achieved the double having won the trophy last year as well. Our topic of Overprints and Surcharges found popularity with the crowd as we received an overwhelming number of votes. Many thanks go to our contributors, Jennifer, Darren, Frank and Russell for their effort. We now need to put our thinking caps on and develop our plan for 2020 and hopefully have a few more members participating. Maybe we can complete the Hat Trick. Saturday 9th was of course our normal meeting and numbers returned to more normal attendees with 44 members and 7 visitors. The number of auction items increased with 82 Lots on offer and 80% sold with very good bidding as usual. Sunday 10th was the second day of the Brisbane Stamp and Coin Show and our club was a gain well represented with a bus load of 14 members plus four others who also turned up at QSAC in Nathan. We are not sure of the exact number but there were at least 15 Dealers for stamps and coins and included two overseas dealers. We must congratulate the Queensland Collectors Club for their excellent organisation of this event and for sponsoring the bus for the trip. The Queensland State Exhibition was held in conjunction with this event and we observed some very well compiled exhibits plus an excellent array of invited exhibits. Our next meeting set down for Saturday 14th December will also be our Christmas function so each member is encouraged to bring along a plate of food to share. We will also be displaying our winning entry from the Inter Club Competition. 11.01.2022 Well the numbers were down on previous meetings, probably due to the inclement weather and maybe still recovering from our highly successful Annual Stamp Fair. With 26 members and 5 visitors it was still an enjoyable afternoon. The auction reflected the lower turnout with 38 lots but the bidding was still spirited and only 3 lots unsold. 13 members attended the Ipswich Stamp Day on 21st October and apparently enjoyed the show and the hospitality. ... Next big event on 11th November is the Brisbane Stamp and Coin Show with the Queensland State Exhibition being run in conjunction. A bus is booked and will leave at 9:30am sharp and will depart for the return journey at around 2:00pm. There are still some seats remaining, contact Bill if you wish to go. 08.01.2022 To All Our Facebook Friends we advise the following regarding suspension of our meetings: The Committee of the Southport Afternoon Stamp Club has been closely following the unfolding events associated with the Corona Virus outbreak. We will continue to monitor the situation and will advise of any changes to this as soon as practical.

03.01.2022 a rare view of the editor
02.01.2022 Saturday 12th JANUARY 2019 saw our first meeting for the new year. With the Christmas/New Year festivities over it was time to get back in to philately. The warm day did not appear deter anyone and we had a great roll-up with 46 members and 6 visitors. If that was not enough the first Auction for the year exceeded our previous record with 103 Lots. With that many lots we thought bidding may have been a little quiet but that was not to be the case with spirited action resulti...ng in 93% of the lots sold. To cap it all off we also had a record individual result with a Great Britain collection selling for $300. A marvellous overall result for all concerned and a great job done by the auction group. Southside Stamp Club and Junction Park Stamp Club were also in attendance with their circuit books and our two dealers seemed to be getting plenty of attention. The one page competition was won by Jennifer Henderson on the subject of UPRISINGS. Next months One Page Competition will be on a subject commencing with the letters K or X.
