25.01.2022 Despite the hot day approximately 40 members and friends of Southport Day VIEW Club enjoyed a BBQ at Len Fox Park at Labrador. A breeze off the Broadwater helped keep everyone cool. A big thank you to all committee members who made the day a success. Money raised will go towards our 20 Learning for Life students.



25.01.2022 Approximately 38 members and friends of Southport Day VIEW Club enjoyed a luncheon at Runaway Bay Tavern on Friday 6 November. A great day was had by all who attended. Our next meeting will be held on Wednesday 18 November at the Southport Yacht Club when ladies will enjoy a fashion parade by Sorbet Fashions of Harbour Town. Southport Day VIEW Clubs meets on the third Wednesday of each month.

23.01.2022 Next meeting to be held at the Southport Yacht Club this Wednesday 18 September is a Nautical theme. Our guest speaker is Environmental Advocate and children’s book author Chez Rafter. Her hard cover children’s book educating young children about the danger litter has to our animals and environment will be available for sale at a cost of $20.

22.01.2022 Dawn Crichlow OAM, Gold Coast City Councillor was guest speaker at our last meeting for 2019 at the Southport yacht club on 18 December. Dawn has been a guest speaker at our meetings for a few years and will be sadly missed following her retirement. We wish Dawn all the best for the future. Our first social event for 2020 is a luncheon at Charlie Men’s Kitchen in the Nelson building Admiralty Drive Paradise Waters. Cost is $28 per head. 21.01.2022 99 members and friends of Southport Day VIEW Club returned to their monthly luncheon meetings at the Southport Yacht Club on Wednesday 19 August after a 5 month break and celebrated our belated 33rd birthday with a 'Little Bit Country' theme. Thank you to the ladies who brought items for our Trading Table. A 20 year service pin was presented to Diana Rees and 10 year service pins were presented to Deborah O'Brien, Patricia Benson and Julie Manning. What a great achievement. Congratulations ladies. New members Chez Rafter, Judy Green, Lee Mclaughlan, Rhoda Weed and Rosemary Gray were welcomed to our club and presented with their badges by National Councillor Evelyn Berg taking our membership to 133. The lucky winner of our $250 money board was Jill Green.

19.01.2022 The next meeting of Southport Day VIEW Club will be held on Wednesday 21 October at the Southport Yacht Club at 11.30 am for 12 noon. Guest speaker will be Sgt. Stephen Keeling from Runaway Bay Police Station who will speak to us on 'scams'. Members and friends enjoyed a Sea World Cruise on gold coast waterways on Friday 4 September and a luncheon at the Historic Rivermill Cafe at Mt. Nathan on Friday 2 October. At our last meeting held on Wednesday 16 September, ladies enjoyed a parade of clothes from Jay Pask of Tedder Avenue, Main Beach. Karen Shakespeare was welcomed to the club by President Anne-Marie and presented with her badge.



18.01.2022 The Annual General Meeting of Southport Day VIEW Club will be held next Wednesday 19 February at 11.30 am for 12 noon at Southport Yacht Club. After the meeting members will be entertained by Roland Storm. VIEW stands for Voice, Interests and Education of Women and supports disadvantaged children through The Smith Family Learning for Life program.

17.01.2022 Chez Rafter was our guest speaker at our September meeting who inspired us all with the work she is doing to help the environment and her life’s journey. Her children’s books written regarding the destruction that rubbish causes were available for sale. If anyone would like to purchase for Christmas gifts they are available online. Our president welcomed 2 new members, Pat Meyer and Lyn Crossie and presented them with new member packs and their badges. Welcome to both. Ladies dressed in Nautical attire in keeping with the theme of our meeting.

16.01.2022 A few paper butterflies made by a couple of members on Saturday afternoon for the Main Beach Flower Festival to be held late June.

16.01.2022 Over 30 members and friends enjoyed High Tea today at the Palmer Colonial Golf Club. Food and company was enjoyed by all who attended.

15.01.2022 42 members and guests attended the first social event of 2020 celebrating ‘Chinese New Year’ at Charlie Men’s Kitchen at Paradise Waters on Friday 7 February. The food and company was enjoyed by all who attended.



15.01.2022 Representing Southport Day VIEW Club, 4 members (from left : Deborah, Joyce, Pam and Anne-Marie attended a morning tea hosted by The Hon Paul de Jersey AC and Mrs Kaye de Jersey at Queensland Government House on Wednesday 11 March in celebration of VIEW Clubs 60 years of strength and support. 100 VIEW members attended the event.

15.01.2022 Unfortunately our annual bus trip organised for last Friday 6 September to Boonah and Canungra had to be postponed due to the bush fires. Our trip has been rescheduled for Friday 4 October when we will visit the museum at Boonah and enjoy morning tea then onto Canungra pub for lunch. If you would like to join us please let Robin know on 5537 4593. Cost for the day is just $45 per person.

13.01.2022 What a wonderful array of goodies donated by members for our ‘Christmas hamper’ raffles at our next meeting on Wednesday 18 December were received. Money raised will go toward our Learning for Life students.

12.01.2022 48 members and friends of Southport Day VIEW club enjoyed the annual bus trip this year on Friday 4 October visiting the Templin Historic Museum near Boonah followed by lunch at the Canungra Hotel.

12.01.2022 107 members and friends of Southport Day VIEW Club enjoyed a fabulous day at the meeting held at the Southport Yacht Club on Wednesday 18 November. 6 new members were welcomed to the club and a fashion parade by Sorbet Fashions of Harbour Town was enjoyed by everyone who attended. A big thank you to the ladies who modelled the garments. Long time committee member Robin Bailey was congratulated on reaching her 80th birthday. Southport Day VIEW Club sponsors 20 Learning for Life Students as part of The Smith Family. Meetings are held every month on the third Wednesday.

11.01.2022 8 members of Southport Day VIEW Club attended the QC01 Christmas party last Wednesday 27 November held at Nerang RSL. Congratulations to Evelyn - Zone Councillor Area QC01 for organising another great event. Entertainment was provided by the Coastal Charisma Choir and John Vella. Natalie Cooper, Program Co-ordinator was guest speaker. A terrific day was had by all especially Caroline Wood who won first prize in the raffle valued at over $200. Congratulations Caroline.

08.01.2022 On Wednesday 19 February president Anne-Marie made a special welcome to Zone Councillor Lorraine Thompson to conduct the election of the 2020 committee of Southport Day VIEW Club. Welcome to 3 new members on the committee replacing long serving members Robin Bailey, Eleanor Owen and Judith Roulent. Collectively a total of 61 years as members of Southport Day (the majority of those years as committee members). Entertainment was enjoyed by Roland Storm who took us down ‘memory lane’ with his songs.

03.01.2022 Guest speaker at the next meeting of Southport Day VIEW Club to be held at the Southport Yacht Club on Wednesday 18 March will be Denise Dunn Lieutenant Colonel Retired Australian Defence. Members are encouraged to wear purple in recognition of International Women’s Day or green to celebrate St Patrick’s Day. Southport Day VIEW Club supports 20 Learning for Life students by raising money through social events held on the first Friday of each month. Monthly meetings are held on the third Wednesday of the month at 11.30 am for 12 noon at the Southport Yacht Club. 03.01.2022 Despite the hot weather 33 members and guests of Southport Day VIEW Club enjoyed a delicious two course lunch at Bon Appetea Teahouse Restaurant at Mudgeeraba on Friday 4 December. A big thank you to Deborah for the fabulous table decorations and to Patricia for our 'surprise' package. This was our final social day for 2020. We take this opportunity to wish our Facebook friends a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

02.01.2022 Margot de Groot, a lawyer from Brisbane was guest speaker at our last meeting held on Wednesday 20 November who spoke to us on the inaugural Main Beach Spring Flower Festival held in September. Margot also owns Flowers on Tedder a beautiful flower shop that donated the gorgeous bouquet of flowers for a raffle won by our hardworking secretary Eleanor. Treasurer Robin Bailey was congratulated on her recent award for 25 years of service to Neighbourhood Watch. Anne-Marie welcomed new member Trish Hart and presented her with her badge. A most successful trading table was also held. Thanks to all members who donated items - the proceeds will go toward our Learning for Life Students.

01.01.2022 What a great day we had today with our Zone Walkathon. Beautiful weather, great company & delicious morning tea. Thank to our ‘marshal’ Julie for her fantastic’mud map’ and leading the way & guiding us on her bike. Thank you to Glenda & Deborah for supplying the morning tea, it was delicious. And thank you to all that participated.

01.01.2022 At Southport VIEW’s October meeting on Wednesday 21st we were lucky to have Dennis Knight entertain us with his back up singer Deni & sound guy John. Dennis ha...s been successfully entertaining audiences Australia wide & more recently in the Gold Coast/Brisbane regions. When Dennis commenced his career he was managed by the one and only Johnny O’Keefe. Dennis kindly stepped in at the last moment when our Guest Speaker had to cancel. 01.01.2022 Approximately 68 members and friends enjoyed a delicious morning tea and fashion parade by Portofino Fashions held at Waratah Apartments on Friday 1 November. Thanks to the hard work of the committee and our terrific models the morning was a great success. All money raised helps our Learning for Life students. Guest speaker at the next meeting on Wednesday 20 November to be held at the Southport yacht club will be Margot de Groot from Flowers On Tedder.
