07.01.2022 QLD Paper Tiger Catamaran State Championships 3rd-4th October On the 3rd and 4th, October Southport Yacht Club hosted, in partnership with the Queensland Paper Tiger Catamaran Association, the 2020 QLD Paper Tiger Catamaran State Championships. It was the first time that this event has been held on the Gold Coast and hosted by the Southport Yacht Club. There has been a recent resurgence of Paper Tigers in Queensland, especially at the Southport Yacht Club, and the Championshi...ps has been a further step in helping to promote the sport of sailing, and in particular, the Paper Tiger class as it offers affordable, high performance and competitive racing across all age groups. We had 11 competitors out on the water and two fantastic days of racing offshore with a total of 5 races completed across the two days. Unfortunately, although 6 races were scheduled for the Regatta, the 6th race had to be abandoned due to lack of breeze. We must say a massive thank you to all of our amazing volunteers that helped the event run smoothly and a huge congratulations to all competitors! The Regatta involved two days of offshore racing, with a mix of Windward/Leeward courses and a long-distance passage Race for our 14 competitors.
