23.01.2022 Sometimes it can be hard to make the choice we know is right, because it might not seem easy in the moment... but i assure you... it makes the world of difference in the long term... and you are not alone...

21.01.2022 Hey church. A message from Krista this morning: At last weeks zoom catch up some reflected on why Jesus chose Peter to be the rock of the church (Matt 16:18). Peter’s faith faulted, he made mistakes and usually did and said things before thinking. He wasn’t a rock at first... he was clay... mouldable clay! He was willing to be corrected and learn (Proverbs 8:33). Sometimes God wants to lead us into deeper understanding and relationship. But He often needs to serve us a slic...e of humble pie in order to achieve that (Matthew 23:12). We are often set in our ways and thinking, stubborn and difficult to budge. So when God is trying to teach, mould and shape us, it might take serving us humble pie. But, it is OUR CHOICE what we do with it. Do we avoid potential temporary embarrassment, telling ourselves we are right, becoming more settled in our pride. OR, we can eat the pie! The first bite can be bitter, acknowledging we were wrong or inviting change can be uncomfortable, maybe embarrassing... but the after taste is long lasting and sweet! (Isaiah 55:8-9) When we say yes to God’s lessons, seeking Him more and our wants less, it just gets sweeter and sweeter (James 4:8). We become less so that He can be more within us, ushering us into our true identity, which is with Him. (Romans 6:6). Today in our zoom chat we will have the opportunity to reflect on things that God has or is calling us to understand more of. Well send the zoom link out soon See more

21.01.2022 The enemy that lives in this world loves to trying to tempt us with things that look good at first, but can lead us down a destructive path. Here are a few things God teaches us about what to do in the face of temptation, and the Bible is full of more!

21.01.2022 Hey there all. I’m so sorry that the kids rock posts have gone by the wayside lately. It has been a full on month! I thought though, it might be worth re-watching an earlier video and reflecting perhaps on another part of scripture that speaks of God as the good Shepherd. I hope you’re all keeping well. Miss you. God, my shepherd! I don’t need a thing. You have bedded me down in lush meadows,... you find me quiet pools to drink from. True to your word, you let me catch my breath and send me in the right direction. Even when the way goes through Death Valley, I’m not afraid when you walk at my side. Your trusty shepherd’s crook makes me feel secure. You serve me a six-course dinner right in front of my enemies. You revive my drooping head; my cup brims with blessing. Your beauty and love chase after me every day of my life. I’m back home in the house of God for the rest of my life. Psalm 23

15.01.2022 ****HUMANS OF SOUTH SHEPP**** Thanks so much to Samantha Coles for sharing her Iso experience with us! ********************** 1.What have the Coronavirus restrictions looked like for you/you and your family? Restrictions for us have been spent out in the garden and also doing some diy projects that have been on the list. Pete has still been able to go into work everyday which has helped it feel more normal for him. We've also been having (almost) weekly online game sessions... with friends in Sydney and Brisbane which has been a lot of fun and a great chance to catch up with them! 2. Have you discovered new things to be grateful for during this time? What are they? We are really grateful for the little things. Getting out in the garden, going for walks with the dog everyday and even going for the weekly shop. Also really grateful for City on a Hill's online service every week. It's been a great opportunity for me to attend my old church that I left when I moved to Shepp. Also grateful for zoom which helps us keep in touch with friends and family! 3. What have been some of the challenging things about this time? How have you coped with them? It's been challenging not being allowed to work and also not being able to visit friends or family. I've been studying which has helped me during this downtime and having zoom has helped when missing friends and family. 4. What is something that God has been teaching you? Something God has been teaching me is that He is constant. Everything around us has changed and things we always thought were important aren't as important now. But God is still there, through it all, unchanging and constant. He is the one thing we can rely on in this world of uncertainty!! 5. Do you have anything else you’d like to say to the community of South Shepp? Look after yourselves and each other. We can get through this!!

13.01.2022 Good morning church In Matthew 16:18, Jesus says to Peter: And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it. ... The ‘church’ was birthed a LONG time ago by Jesus himself, and the Trinity had plans for what this would look like. Over time, the way church is expressed has changed and looks different for different people groups. How beautiful. Covid-19 has changed things for the church and has kind of provided a ‘circuit breaker’- an opportunity to ask God ‘what direction are you moving us in? Today in our Zoom catch up we are hoping to think about this more and would love to discuss what God is teaching us all during this time and and what this can mean for South Shepp as a community. What is He inviting us into moving forward as restrictions ease? I sent the zoom link out via text. Let me know if you didn’t get it and would like it. Hope to see you at 11 Beth and Tim

10.01.2022 ~~~HUMANS OF SOUTH SHEPP~~~ Thanks so much to Jess Rose and Bud Man for sharing part of their journey with us! Miss you guys!! ************************************... What have the Coronavirus restrictions looked like for you/you and your family? Well, it's hard to remember pre- corona virus restrictions, but life has ticked along somewhat normally for our family... just isolated. We have been getting into a few diy projects around the house and garden, and have enjoyed the slower pace at times. I'm back at work 2 days a week now as well. Have you discovered new things to be grateful for during this time? What are they? I think the biggest thing I've been grateful for is that I love my home-life and family, also that we have a backyard for the kids to play in, some lovely neighbours (that we've gotten to know better during this time), places to walk to, and that we both still have employment too. What have been some of the challenging things about this time? How have you coped with them? It has been hard not seeing friends and family at times, and, particularly early on, never having some time out from the kids (visiting family, babysitting, visiting a playground to occupy them etc), but lance and I have developed a bit of a tag-team approach to parenting, when needed, to give each other some time out or rest. It has also been challenging to try to explain to the boys why they can't visit grandma or nan, or play on the playground etc, but lucky they're young enough to be easily distracted. There have also been a couple of blocks of weeks where our family day care provider closed shop (in protection from the virus), so lance took 1 day off a week to look after the boys (which he quite enjoyed), and grandma had them the other (which she thoroughly enjoyed! ) What is something that God has been teaching you? A continuing lesson that it is good to be content. Also a reminder that it is not up to anyone else but ourselves to develop and cultivate our relationship with God. Do you have anything else you’d like to say to the community of South Shepp? We miss you. We're looking forward to, once again, introducing our boys to their extended family xoxo

10.01.2022 When people put you down it can be really hard not to take it to heart. Sometimes we believe the awful things people say about us. Well, can I tell you something that is awesome and true! God thinks you are great! And he made you well, and loves you, and what God thinks matter the most! You are wonderful!

05.01.2022 It can be tempting to be lazy sometimes, even when we know we should be doing something useful... and you know what... turns out laziness is actually the harder choice in the long run... Song - "It's Your Life by Francesca Battistelli

04.01.2022 Really lovely to be able to welcome you back through our gates today. This morning we reflected on Jesus’ life and ministry and how most of his story is actually not set inside a church building. We talked about having eyes to see him at work in all places... and particularly where we have seen him at work while we haven’t been able to gather together. The kids made glasses to represent this message. See you next week

03.01.2022 Looking forward to a nice morning together again today. 9-10:30. Drop in anytime. Cuppa, Live music and opportunity to share from 9. Kids message will be no later than 10, as it’s going to be a hot one!! Remember the SunSmart pelican and look after yourselves in the heat today!

02.01.2022 Prayer is the most powerful weapon we have, because it's how we participate with God in all battles, and there is nothing and no one more powerful than Him!
