25.01.2022 Winter has shown up all guns blazing in Perth!! No time to netflix and chill... here are some tips for Winter gardening: Trim shrubs and trees - Your Frangipanis will be losing leaves and now is great time to prune to keep them dense for next summer.... - Hard prune your roses next month (July) - Prune camellias once the flowering has ended Use fallen leaves as mulch in the garden beds it will decompose and nourish the soil Adjust the amount of water given to indoor plants and ensure they are kept away from heaters. You can spray a mist of water to create humidity Now is a good time to treat weeds and pests to control them over the colder weather June is the best time to plant citrus trees Less lawn mowing is required over the cooler months - but dont ignore your lawns completely - mow 4 weekly to keep them in optimum condition Happy WA Day!!

21.01.2022 Another of our Top five faves - The Rhoeo dwarf, commonly knows as Moses in the Cradle (go figure - it's purple too like our other faves). This stunning plant is a short stemmed tender foliage plant which makes attractive small dense clumping rosettes. It forms a solid ground cover and has magnificent purple and green foliage. Rhoeo enjoys full sun to part shade and likes well drained soils. This striking plant is very hardy and prolific. Plant it and will multiply and multiply and multiply! This is EVERYWHERE in our front and back garden beds.

11.01.2022 Spring is Coming!!! Winter arrived late, but fair to say, has overstayed its welcome! Tips for Spring Gardening:... 1. Refresh the soil in your garden beds. Manure, compost or wetting agent - whatever you choice do it in preparation to freshen up the beds of nutrients. 2. Repot pot plants or add some potting mix to the soil. Leading into spring is the best time to do this. Trim as required now as well. 3. Check your mulch. If less then 5cm it's best to be topped up now. 4. Fertilise citrus trees - this will help them to continue to flower and produce fruit. 5. Check your lawns. Top dress with a compost and sand based soil blend - mow it short to get all the good stuff into the subsoil. 6. Protect your rose leaves from fungal disease with a preventative spray. Too busy or no idea where to start? Contact Brendan for a quote and advice: Phone: 0419 320 079 email: [email protected]

09.01.2022 Want to get out in the garden during Autumn? Here's a few tips... Aerate your lawns Fertilise and revitalize your lawns before the onset of winter... Time to plant! The sun isnt so fierce, the soil is still warm and plants have a chance to settle in before winter Once the weather has cooled right off, take all your indoor plants outdoors for a breath of fresh air! Keep up mowing of the lawns even though the growth will start slowing down as the weather cools Trim your hedges before winter sets in to keep them compact and and bushy from ground level Mulch mulch mulch to keep weeds at bay and moisture in the soil Don't want to get out in the garden? 09.01.2022 Are your normally healthy looking lawns looking dry and patchy in large areas even though they are adequately watered? You may have the pesky "black beetle" in your lawns which causes random patches of dead lawn. The black beetle causes damage to the roots of grass and plants and the lawn doesn't respond well to treatment unless the black beetle is targeted.... Treat it with a black beetle treatment. Did you know that mulch stops the soil drying out, keeps the soil moist and can reduce your watering by about 60%? Yes, it does! Here are the 3 mulches we most commonly use:- Black Mulch - Crushed bark and wood waste are blended and then coloured. The colourants used are highly resistant to UV fading. ... Karri and Peat - Cushed jarrah and karri bark, blended with peat Mushroom Compost - A blend of straw, liquid manure, sawdust, mushroom farm compost. Mushroom Compost is ideal for growing vegetables and other plants that require a high level of nutrients. It has the most nutrients in it for your landscaping needs! 04.01.2022 Another of our Top 5 faves in our garden bed is the frangipani. They add a tropical feel, have a fabulous sweet scent and have the most amazingly pretty bloom! The most common is the white and yellow, but the pink and yellow is perhaps the more striking of the two. Frangipani is a another very hardy plant that can survive drought and heat... Ideal for Perth gardens!... The 3 most important things to ensure a fabulous bloom? 1. Sunshine - they love hours and hours of direct sunlight 2. Water - a good amount of water, but don't over do it otherwise you'll cause root rot 3. Fertilise - Fertilise with a high phosphorous fertiliser. The nitrogen level should be relatively low and potassium helps to produce a strong plant Need some helping caring for your frangipani's? Contact Brendan: mobile - 0419 320 079 email - [email protected]
