19.01.2022 Progress Update Our wood panelled like wall paper has been made perpetual! Real wood caressed by flame - kinda like how everything on our new menu is going to be! We installed that wallpaper because we loved it but also because its whats glued to some of the uprights at The Cake Shop in NYC - just an awesome dive bar we reminisce over. And whos that handsome back? Why thats @toolhandluke, a regular of many years, who usually comes in with Ruby and Gracie, but occasionally his wife Laya (JK R&G are his pooches!). Its been A+ awesome being able to work with Lucas on the revamp. It feels so good working with someone you already know :) #thecakeshopnyc

17.01.2022 Im overwhelmed with love for everyone who helped rebuild Southside over the last few months. Its been a mighty task but we couldnt have done it without some very talented friends, some we met over beers at Death Valley, and other friendships that span decades. Ill be pouring one out for you Friday night when we reopen. Well be open Friday from 5p for Bar-B-Q and beers and 8am on the weekend for brunch. Come down and check it out.

15.01.2022 Its so tempting to just keep adding fake vines to these prison lookin bars on our kitchen window, but for now, this will do. (the colorful plants are by @anikakirk who generously gifted them to us after an exhibition she had here last year! So nice to have em as a permanent feature!)

12.01.2022 We didnt know what we were doing 6 years ago when we rented a cheap shopfront on the main strip in Morningside, just that we had an itch to create a welcoming and inclusive space where we could all grow together, and the naivety to actually make it happen. Since opening weve grown from 2 to 15 team members, served hundreds of thousands of hot coffees (and ice cold beers) and non-stop connected with the most inspiring and interesting people in the city, a privilege we dont... take lightly. But the place needs some work. Southside will be closing on weekdays for remodeling, while the deck, footpath dining and bar will be OPEN WEEKENDS from 8am to preview our new menu and pump out espresso. We expect to return after Death Valley Fun Camp with a fresh new look (and the same old community spirit). If youd like to come to our Friend and Fam Re-Opening or just wanna know what were up to message us, cant wait to show yall what we have in stall. See you soon, Southside! 09.01.2022 Cleaning this floor wasnt easy but @elpoocho s help made it possible. Everyday we get a LITTLE BIT closer to the end goal of reopening better then we were before. Part of that mission? Scrub the floor. Wet vac the floor. Put a cheap coat of finish on it before piling it high with bench seating, picnic tables & the 10 tap system that currently sits in DV. Why a cheap coat of finish...? Weve been been burning dem gigabytes looking for a solution, while the answer was right u...nder our... well our feet. We liked this skanky floor when we first met it & like it even better now. Hello where the couch used to be, thanks for the history lesson. Hello brown stains from a coffee accident (or two!), you just make it feel more like the floor of a cave & that suits our new concept PERFECTLY! Us before & us now, side by side. Hows the kitchen though? Cleaner then ever & slow cooking some brisket right now - we would love your help eating it. In preparation for the re-launch we are going to be using @ubereats as our testing grounds. Try the menu before its live & let us know how were going. Youll find us under both Red Robin Supper Truck & Southside Tea Room for a small while longer, until we consolidate all accounts into @southsidetearoom - in a bid to reduce confusion Ha Ha See more

05.01.2022 Huge thanks to everyone who welcomed us back this weekend, we didnt get a chance to take many snaps, caught up in the excitement and nerves of it all, but @bechamer_ got this beauty, a spread of our new brunch menu on the front picnic table. 02.01.2022 Such a terrible photo of a terrific cocktail! The Morningside Margarita is the perfect blend of sour, salt & sweet. Its almost a shame its alcoholic because wed like to drink... at least 10!

01.01.2022 Avocado Toast on bakery bought sourdough with feta beet whip, wattle seed dukka, lemon, micro herbs and a side of haloumi. Serving brunch until 1pm & then we stagger night options until the full menu is ready at 5pm (brisket always takes until 5pm everyday to be perfect ).
