18.01.2022 We had some big partnerships around the grounds/grades last weekend. One that hasn't made the honour board was for the 8th wicket in thirds, Danyon and Ash almost stole the game for the Sharks against the Panthers with some late hitting and amassing 73 in very quick time. Not the first time we have seen the late order fire in thirds this season, with Ian Cameron and Kishan Bist putting on 91 in round 4, also for the 8th wicket.

13.01.2022 Return to play update - 1st December As at 1 December 2020, the Queensland borders will be open to all of New South Wales and Victoria. Contact Information: Is it really THAT important?... YES! Contact information gained by organisations and businesses is an essential element to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. When a person is diagnosed with COVID-19, the local public health unit (PHU) commences Contact Tracing to assess the movements of the person with COVID-19 while they were infectious and determine who in community are considered ‘close contacts’. Close contacts will be directed to quarantine and may also be tested for COVID-19. Contact Tracing assists public health officers to contain and respond to the spread of COVID-19 within the community (Source). Without the contact information, the virus will continue to spread throughout the community. We all want to continue to enjoy sport, active recreation and fitness pursuits, to be outdoors and to spend time with our friends and family, so please follow the COVID Safe guidelines and practices. When attending training or match days, you must sign in, it is not optional. Preferred method is via the QR Codes, if you do not have a phone that works, request someone who does to do it for you. https://www.covid19.qld.gov.au//roadmap-to-easing-qu/sport

10.01.2022 A reminder that Abbott Park, Harrup Park and all local cricket venues are operating under approved COVID Safe Plans. This means, as a minimum: 1. No unauthorised access 2. Enter and Exit via approved points... 3. Maintain social distancing 4. Do not attend if unwell 5. Sign in and out Please ensure we all maintain these requirements. Simply because there are no current reported cases of COVID 19 in the community, that does not provide an option for people to no longer follow the approved plans. Failure to follow these directions can lead to fines and closure of facilities. #BECOVIDSAFE

If you have not yet registered for junior cricket this season and intend playing please do so asap, or if not playing this season, please advise. A reminder, the club is offering a free junior coaching masterclass this Thursday 2nd October from 4pm to 5:30pm at Abbott Park for any junior players including Master Blasters. 05.01.2022 Thanks to Mackay Hurricanes Cricket Club our club now has access to an Automated Emergency Defibrillator (AED) for training and games days at Abbott Park. Using a defibrillator can mean the difference between life and death if someone is in cardiac arrest, but Heart Foundation research shows more than half of Aussies wouldn’t feel confident stepping in. A defibrillator checks the heart rhythm and can apply a measured electric shock to restore the heart to its normal rhythm.... It will only deliver a shock if necessary, which means you cannot hurt someone by using a defibrillator. We have multiple people trained in first aid at the club, but anyone can use the defibrillator if required, it is very easy to operate with verbal and written instructions. It is currently stored in the training equipment area and we are looking to store it securely elsewhere for ready access. https://youtu.be/HWj55DlfNvg
05.01.2022 Ladies Social 8's squad is in for this Sunday. Enquiries to Zoe on 0431 794219

02.01.2022 Cricket, what a great sport that offers so much more than runs, wickets and catches. This week the Qld School Sport 10-12 years girls state championships are being held in Bundaberg. This brings together girls and families from all around the state with friendships formed and friends reunited. Enter an opportunity for 2 former Sharky legends from our 1996/97 and 97/98 First Grade Premierships who had not seen each other for a few years, to reunite. Sammy Stewart and daughter Bridie (representing South Coast) and Ian Faulkner with daughter Matilda (representing Capricornia). How good!
02.01.2022 Third grade returned to the winners circle on Saturday. Once again it was the lower order partnerships that performed the heroics for the team, with inaugural orange cap winner, Ian Cameron and Trevor Lahy combining for an unbroken 63 for the 9th wicket to steer the side past Pioneer Valley’s total of 157. Elliot Ames continuing some solid batting form with 47 at the top. Earlier some great bowling from everyone including the last two red cap winners, Danyon and Ashley ensuring the Panthers batting order were kept in check.
02.01.2022 THAT’S MY GAME We weren’t kidding when we said we were coming with more all girls events than ever before!!
