24.01.2022 U13’s v Palm Beach Great effort from the boys on Saturday... We rolled Palm Beach for 25 and we made 123. Best of the bowlers were Max Powell 2/0, Preston Strange 2/4 and Billy Mulheran 2/7. On the batting side of things our top scorers were Preston Strange with 25 runs, Kade Wood with 20 runs, Billy Mulheran with 18 runs and Bayden Smith 12no. Good start to the season boys.
24.01.2022 In the interest of community safety, all cricket: Junior, Senior and Masters has been cancelled for this weekend. The Qld Government has been very clear in their desire for anyone who has been in the Greater Brisbane area since the 2nd of January to self isolate for 3 days, and that has made this decision the only possible outcome. Many of us have travelled in that region for work, junior rep cricket, visiting family or for social events, and therefore have been asked to self... isolate. At this stage all two day games will revert to one day games next weekend. Please share this to ensure all players receive this information. Stay safe and enjoy your weekend See more

22.01.2022 U13’s - Runaway Bay (Week 1) The boys won the toss and decided to bat first and finished the day at 4/121. Great batting performances from Josh McCaffery 39no, Preston Strange 36 and Kade Wood 23 runs. It was then our turn to bowl and we have them 7/51. Best bowling performances went to Bill Mulheran 2/2 off 3 over, Preston Strange 2/9 off 3 overs. Great team effort by the boys and the fielding was fantastic. Over 40’s - Burleigh ... This was always going to be a tough game as Burleigh had come back from 1st division and are a very strong side. We won the toss and elected to bat and we finished 8/155. Seb Koppel was at it again with another solid score of 36, Ian Cladworthy 24 & Peter McFie chipping in with 18 late in the innings. We thought we might have been 20 - 30 runs short of where we needed to be but little did Burleigh know that we had Rocket Rod Pain in our side. Rocket Rod finished with 4/17 off 7 overs and was well supported by Kal who finished with 2/7 off 7 overs. There was some really sharp fielding by the boys and I’m hearing that Ian Clutworthy took an absolute screamer behind the stumps. Great win boys bring on Runaway Bay. latest results: http://mycricket.cricket.com.au//publ/rv/clubresults.aspx

21.01.2022 Under 13’s v Alberton: Top of the table clash against Alberton. It was a stinking hot day for the boys and we had no subs so it was a real tough day of cricket. We won the toss and elected to bat and we got off to a flying start with our openers Max and Kade putting on a partnership of 89 before Max Powell was out for 18. Kade Wood went on to make his first half century and finished 50 off 51 balls. Kade’s shot selection was outstanding and really worked hard in the hot condi...tions. Josh McCaffery come out and smashed 36 off 24 balls and remains not out. The boys finished at 2/144 off our 25 overs. It was out turn to bowl and field in the hottest part of the day and the boys did a super job keeping Alberton to 8/109. Best bowlers on the day were Max Powell with 2/5 off 3 overs closely followed by a great bowling performance Zeka 2/9 off 3 overs. Over 40’s v Runaway Bay: The old fellas played Runaway Bay at home. We lost the toss and were sent in to bat. We finished on 8/222 with Peter Mitchell (no not our president) smashing 69 runs off 37 balls. Peter and Seb got us off to a flyer smashing 75 off the first 9 overs before Seb was out on 20 off 33. All our batters chipped in and got a start. Mick Strange looked good before being dismissed on 22. Poor old Ian Clatworthy copped his third LBW in a row. Might be time to use your bat old mate. It was then our turn to bowl and we kept them to 8/182. Best of the bowlers were Peter Mitchell (no not our president) 2/32 off 7 over closely followed by the silver fox Kal finishing with 1/17 off 7 overs. The fielding was sharp with Pete McFie and Seb Koppel throwing their old bodies all over the place. The highlight of the day was Mick Strange taking one of the best slips catches I’ve ever seen. Mick finished off with 3 catches in the slips and earned himself Man of the Match honours. Great win by the old fellas.

14.01.2022 Last cricket season Craig Dodson, a 42-year-old cricket tragic, set a world record by playing 11 games of cricket for 11 different clubs across Australia, while raising funds for mental health foundation Gotcha4Life. Craig travelled over 10,000 kms, pulling on the whites for a diverse mix of fantastic cricket clubs. He found himself trapped by a bushfire, travelling 1600 kilometres one day just for a Golden Duck and was given a hand by greats of the game like Greg Chappell a...nd Darren Lehmann along the way. It was an epic sporting and lifetime adventure. Craig went through a battle with depression a decade ago and, thankfully, came out the other side. He committed himself to using the tour to raise funds for mental health as well as helping people along the way by sharing his story. In the end Craig’s adventure raised $10,000. Craig has now turned his adventure into a book (with all proceeds going to charity). 14.01.2022 U13’s v Mudgeeraba Great effort by the boys as we remain unbeaten for the season with a solid win against 3rd place Mudgeeraba. We lost the toss and Mudgee decided to bat first. The boys bowled and field great and we rolled Mudgee for 98. The best bowling performance in the 1st innings was Kade Wood with 2/4 off 3 overs, however all the bowlers bowled well sharing a wicket each across the innings. It was then our turn to bat and we put on 177. Harry Barber lead the way with 3...6 closely followed by Max Powell on 26 and Kade Wood on 20. Kade and Max managed to put on a 57 partnership for the 1st wicket, which gave us a great start. Special mention must go to Evan Pain who scored 10 of 41 balls. On week one we only had 9 players and when Evan come in we were in a bit of trouble and if Evan got out we would have been all out as we were 2 batsmen short. Evan put his head down and batted the day out, which meant our boys that were away in week 1 could bat in week 2. Great effort Evan. Mudgee then went in for their 2nd innings and they finished at 6/25 with all the boys bowling well and the fielding was great. We then went in for our 2nd innings and we finished at 6/53 after playing a bit of big bash. Billy Mulheran was the best of the batters finishing with 21 from 24 balls and Zeke hitting a quick fire 11 from 10 at the end of the inning. All in all another great performance from the team. This Saturday it’s the top of table clash against Alberton up at Alberton so another good test for the boys. Up the colts.

05.01.2022 Round 1 of the over 40’s season and we come up against Palm Beach. Palm Beach won the toss and batted and put a solid score of 5/194 on the board. It was a tough day for the bowlers with Rod Pain leading the way with 1/16 of 6 overs and Mick Strange finishing with 2/38. It was our turn to bat and Glenn Pearse and Seb Kopell got us off to a great start putting on 69 runs for the first wicket partnership. Glenn Pearse was dismissed for 30 and Seb Kopell smashed them all over th...e park and went on to score 50no off 43 ball. At drinks we were 2/109 and batting well. Mick Strange looked solid before being caught on 24. From that point on the boys pushed hard and cruise to the total with Rod Pain smashing 18 runs of 10 balls. We finished on 4/199 with 4 overs in hand. It was great performance by all and a great win to start the season. 01.01.2022 U13’s Against Coomera Coomera batted first and made 110 runs... Our boys bowled well with Josh McCaffery best of the bowlers with figure of 2/6 of 3 overs. The boys were good in the field as well with Kade Wood taking 3 catches. It was our turn to bat and the boys chased down the runs easy and finished up all out for 182. Great batting performances from Max Powell 50no off 60 balls, Harry Barber-Hays 46 off 52, Aiden Tom 17 off 22 balls & Bryce George 16 off 31 balls.
