08.01.2022 DEVELOPMENT will soon reach new heights with Bunbury City Council last night approving plans for the construction of a multi-storey mixed-use complex on prime beachfront land at Koombana North. The six-storey building will comprise basement parking, a ground floor designed for four shops/restaurant/tavern units, 14 apartments and a private rooftop terrace on the land known as Lot 1 Koombana North. The land was last year purchased by Austpro Management Services Group from the ...State Government’s land development agency LandCorp, which owns five lots in the Koombana North Precinct. City of Bunbury Mayor Gary Brennan said he was excited to see development progressing on the prime coastal land just south of the ski beach. Koombana North is a fantastic location close to the Marlston waterfront and Bunbury CBD and this development fits perfectly with the vision for this precinct, Mr Brennan said. This is also a key entry point into the CBD and it will tie in successfully with the existing development on the Marlston waterfront and also the future upgrade of Koombana Drive and landscaping as part of the transformation of Bunbury’s waterfront. The Koombana North development is just one of several significant projects the City has been keen to help progress. This includes a $58 million redevelopment of the Bunbury Forum Shopping Centre, $10m to $15m redevelopment of the Plaza Shopping Centre, plus negotiations regarding the sale of land in the CBD for the Vue Group to build an animation studio/hotel/apartment complex. Council has been laying the groundwork for the last two years and it is very positive to see such significant investment coming to fruition, Mr Brennan said. See your ad here The City Council has created a positive investment environment thanks to initiatives such as rezoning to meet market demands, engaging with our community and establishing solid partnerships with the Bunbury Chamber of Commerce and Industries and State Government, which has resulted in real progress. The City Council will continue its focus to be a facilitator and enabler and it is very encouraging to see that developers have confidence in Bunbury and its future.
