25.01.2022 The Timboon Men's Shed have done such a wonderful job bringing the Warm Safe Home Project to the communities of Timboon and Port Campbell. Ray and John & Co have put in a spectacular effort - so have the clever artists who have painted them. These houses are on display on the Port Campbell foreshore until Monday after which they'll move to Timboon. Everyone has the right to a warm safe home at every age. #elderabuseprevention #16daysofactivism2020 #warmsafehomeproject... #portcampbell #timboon #everyage See more

23.01.2022 Drop into the Corangamite Shire Office in Camperdown to collect a kit and help our project The Warm Safe Home Project has been busy in the finding ways to connect communities with our special project. Wonderful people of all ages in Macathur, Timboon, Hamilton, Lismore, Camperdown, and Warrnambool are creating little homes as part of the 16 Days of Activism Against Violence starting next week. We are also so pleased to know that the Warm Safe Home Project has taken on a life of it’s own in the Geelong - Barwon region and in Melbourne.

23.01.2022 The Warm Safe Home Project has partnered with Warrnambool East Primary School's Mirror Mirror for the 16 Days of Activism. This trio of houses are on Warrnambool's Civic Green just near our Lighthouse Theatre display. The Mirror Mirror project has 22 mirrors located around Warrnambool - they ask us to reflect on our behaviors and the ways they affect those around us.

18.01.2022 It was with great sadness that we heard of the passing of Hon. Susan Ryan AO, the remarkable woman who changed our country and continued to work for social justice throughout her life. Susan was keynote speaker at the Warm Safe Home Forum this June. Susan devoted her life to a more equitable and inclusive society, from women's representation in cabinet to the Sex Discrimination Act to dramatically improving high school retention rates. Susan was our first Age Discrimination... Commissioner in the decade just past, and during our forum she spoke eloquently and passionately for the need to work harder to ensure the dignity of our older people. Find her full address in the video of our forum in the link in the comments section of this post. Some people hold up the sky, she was one. Vale Susan Ryan. https://www.abc.net.au//former-minister-susan-ry/12705746 See more

16.01.2022 We are really proud to be connected with this sister campaign initiated by Financial Counselling Victoria. Everyone has the right to a Warm Safe Home - at its most basic level that means having the financial security to keep the heater on in wintery weather like this. If you are struggling to pay your bills a financial counsellor can help you review your situation and provide you with options so you can make more informed choices says Dr Suzy Goldsmith, Lead Special Projects at Financial Counselling Victoria. Financial counselling services are free and independent. To access these services in South West Victoria contact Bethany Financial Counselling on 1300 510 439. 12.01.2022 How beautiful are these? Some very creative people at the David Newman Centre Camperdown have been busy creating these little warm safe homes. These will be on display during the 16 Days of Activism starting November 25.

11.01.2022 Warm Safe Home home is joined Mirror Mirror and the Clothesline Project in the Lighthouse Theatre Warrnambool for the 16 Days of Activism. Our neighborhood of little houses will grow over the next few weeks. It's a really eye catching display. So wonderful to have the support of the Lighthouse Theatre to makr this happen.

10.01.2022 The Timboon Men's Shed have been wonderful in spreading the Warm Safe Home message. You can visit their tiny houses in Timboon, you can also find other Warm Safe Homes on display in Warrnambool's Civic Green and Lighthouse Theatre, in Hamilton, in the township of Macarthur, in Lismore and from December 13th in Corangamite Art's window in Manifold St. Hundreds of community members across the South West have helped make little houses over the last 18 months. It is wonderful to ...be able to share the love and care that has gone into this work during the 16 Days of Activism. A warm safe home is about respectful relationships and secure housing. Everyone has a right to a warm safe home at every age. Together we can prevent elder abuse. Elder abuse is any act that causes harm to an older person and is carried out by someone that they know and trust. It can be financial, psychological, physical, sexual, social, and neglect. It is wrong and there are things that can be done to stop it. If you are concerned about a suspected elder abuse situation you can contact Seniors Rights Victoria's confidential helpline on 1300 368 821 Mon - Fri 10 am - 5 pm. If someone is in immediate danger contact 000 #elderabuseprevention #warmsafehomeproject #16DaysofActivism

07.01.2022 We are making 500 little houses to help to prevent elder abuse as a part of the 16 Days of Activism this November. We are sending out art kits for people to create their own beautiful little houses to be included in displays around South West Victoria. This super accessible activity is great to share with family, in school or group settings, or can be completed as individual artful pieces. For more information or to order your kit: Send us a message or get in touch with Elder Abuse Prevention Project Worker - Becky Nevin Berger via [email protected]
