22.01.2022 "Drawing" an image around your neighbourhood is a fun activity to do, but what's the best way to plan a "drawing"? Maybe try Google Maps, or a paper map to work out what images you could walk, jog, cycle, swim or wheel. Be mindful of not making your image too big if you haven't been as active lately! And if you register, you could win one of the great prizes from our supporting partners, like one of three, 3 month Timboon Gym Memberships with thanks to the Corangamite Shire Council Head to for full details.

16.01.2022 South West Sport has made a call to postpone the November 2020 South West Games event until next year. South West Sport CEO, Mike Neoh, said ... "Given the unc...ertainty around the transition between restriction levels and the lead in time needed to plan, we will be postponing the 2020 South West Games until 2021. As a significant annual event (continuous for 3 decades), like many other cancelled major events, it was a difficult but correct decision. As an organisation that promotes ‘well-being’, the community's health is our priority. Our sponsors, partners and clubs (that registered initial interest) have been extremely supportive and fully endorse the decision that was made in the best interest of the community. South West Sport continues to deliver its other programs to support sport with club development activities and we also continue to actively encourage individuals to undertake regular exercise within the COVID guidelines".

15.01.2022 Regional Sport Victoria (RSV) are the peak body representing the nine Regional Sports Assemblies (RSAs). RSV are keen to recruit young people aged 12 to 17 with different experiences of sport to create a group that can assist in the development and decision-making of regional sports. We are particularly interested in applications from young people who may have never been involved in sporting clubs before or who may have played sport in the past but are currently not playing. This will involve joining a group of about 10 20 other young people from all over regional and rural Victoria and take part in monthly meetings with RSV. The first term will go from October 2020 to April 2021. Register your interest here:

15.01.2022 South West Sport is aiming to hold the South West Games from 7th-15th November with the theme Sports Activation. We understand that there is still some unce...rtainty around COVID-19 but we would like to encourage sports to participate - including clubs/sports that may be in recess this year. Examples of participation events could be a fun run/walk, social/modified round robin competition or fitness challenge. It would be a great opportunity to keep your members connected even if in recess this year due to COVID-19. We hope that your club will be part of the South West Games - Sports Activation week. We would like to ascertain your club’s initial interest in participating: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/2020SWG

05.01.2022 Today marks the beginning of NAIDOC Week 2020! It's a significant time to celebrate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, histories and achievements. ...It's also an opportunity for everyone in Australia to reflect on and make a priority the social and emotional wellbeing of Indigenous Australians. Whilst the week is usually celebrated in July, the organising committee made the unprecedented decision to move the official NAIDOC week celebrations to November, to protect elders and those in the community with chronic health issues, from the impacts of COVID. This year’s theme - Always Was, Always Will Be - recognises that First Nations people have occupied and cared for this continent for over 65,000 years. South West Sport, like many other organisations, is proud to celebrate NAIDOC Week in both July and November. This year, things look a little different but we’re finding new ways to connect and reflect with a range of COVID-safe activities including a virtual film viewing party, hearing from virtual guest speakers and attending online cultural events. To learn more about upcoming NAIDOC events, visit bit.ly/38gSSKk. How are you celebrating #NAIDOC2020? #alwayswasalwayswillbe
