23.01.2022 Kicking off Orthoptics Awareness Week 2020 with a great article on Orthoptists role in paediatric vision screening. #orthopticsau #OAW2020
21.01.2022 One of the most common causes of childhood vision problems is Amblyopia. It is a condition where a child's vision does not fully develop due to misaligned eyes, or blurred vision. It can be difficult to detect as most children do not realise that their vision is blurred. Orthoptists specialise in various methods of vision testing for all ages. Treatment usually involves making sure the eyes have the opportunity to see clearly which might include glasses. Additionally, patchin...g the eye with good vision for a couple of hours a day is needed to help the amblyopic eye develop normal vision. Often, patching can be quite difficult if the vision is significantly blurred. Frequent follow up is often needed to ensure our patients are given the best opportunity to develop good vision. This article discusses how Perth Children’s Hospital have managed to continue encouraging families to patch through the COVID-19 pandemic. #Orthopticsau #OAW2020 https://www.insightnews.com.au/owa-keep-calm-and-carry-on-/ See more
