02.01.2022 MEET THE FAMILY - Simply Special Stormflower If you’re a local and you haven’t heard of Stormflower Vineyard in Wilyabrup there’s a big chance you’ve been whooshing past it a bunch of times as you cruise along Caves Rd and didn’t even realise. ... Situated on a small hill right next door to The Caves Rd Collective (formerly Black Brewing Co / the old Duckstein Brewery) this ‘blink and you’ll miss it’ cellar door will definitely make you glad you found it. The vineyard planted in the mid 1990’s now has Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz, Sauvignon Blanc, Semillon and Chenin Blanc vines. When Stormflower took over the vineyard in 2007 an increase in use of organic composts, vine restoration, natural vineyard management and a whole lot of love produced their first vintage in 2009. The vineyard achieved full Organic Certification in 2016 and all of Stormflower’s wines from the 2016 vintage onwards are certified organic, or made with certified organic grapes. Their newly completed winery was opened in 2020, so now all wines are made on site! The cellar door is relaxed and understated surrounded by the most lovely grounds - so lovely we were married under the trees there in 2019 - the perfect place for a picnic on the grass with a glass of wine on a summers day. Or a comfy seat inside overlooking the garden in winter with a cheeseboard and bottle of their delicious red wine.
