21.01.2022 A Watch & Act remains in place for the eastern part of Nambeelup in the Shire of Murray. The fire is still not yet controlled and bushfire behaviour could be ve...ry erratic tonight due to unfavourable weather conditions. An easterly wind is expected around midnight this evening, which means the fire could head west towards the Kwinana Freeway, Stake Hill, Meadow Springs, Lakelands and surrounding areas. If you are in the area, it is essential that you know where you will go if you decide to leave. Do not wait until it is too late if you plan to leave, leave early. Lakes Road between Paterson Road and Corio Road is currently closed. If you are on Greyhound Retreat, head south along Greyhound Retreat to Lakes Road and head in a westerly direction. If you are on Bush Retreat, head south along Bush Retreat to Lakes Road and head in an easterly direction. 20.01.2022 The 6th June 2019 was a significantly busy day across the state for fires, the following was taken from the DFES 2018/19 Annual Report; Preceding a cold front through the South West, on 6 June 2019 we recorded our third busiest day in history with 284 emergency incidents reported. More than 170 of these incidents were fires, one of which was a complex of fires at Jarrahwood in the South West. In Kewdale, response crews fought a large factory fire. The predicted weather for Friday, Saturday and Sunday is looking to present similar unfavorable fire conditions with a cold front passing through. We urge all residents to take care and exercise common sense and to not burn in winds above 20km/h

We would like to take this opportunity to thank all of the employers who released our amazing volunteers to help fight those fires. A special thanks goes to Alcoa as many of our members were released to go and help the firefighting effort and Durrant Racing also. What would we do without our awesome volunteers, the family that supports them and the employers that allow them to take time off DFES Incident Photographer Evan Collis

09.01.2022 ** Santa Lolly Run ** We would just like to clarify that the brigade is bringing Santa via road and not via the canals. We do this in case we get called out to a fire and have to hightail it back to the station to pick up our amazing volunteer firefighters, so we can get them out to the fire as quickly as possible. ... Even Santa has to put on his firefighting suit..!! There is always a possibility of this happening at this time of year, so please do whatever you can to help us get around to see all the kids, in the shortest possible time frame. Where you can, come out of the cul de sacs and line the bigger streets. not only will it help us, but you will get to meet more of our wonderful locals.

08.01.2022 We have enterered the prohibited burning season. If you see smoke call 000 immediately

08.01.2022 Murray residents are reminded that the district’s Prohibited Burning Time commenced on 1 December and will remain in effect until 31 March, 2020. Living in a bu...shfire prone area and with a particularly warm summer anticipated, it is imperative that residents and landowners have adequately undertaken fire prevention works around their home and prepared and/or revised their bushfire plans remembering to plan for the safety of pets and livestock. It is critical that landowners and residents yet to complete their prevention works undertake the necessary actions, as penalties apply for non-compliance. Don’t let you or your neighbour be a victim this fire season - well prepared properties stand a greater chance of surviving a bushfire. For further information visit - http://tiny.cc/4hp6gz

03.01.2022 We have an early contender for Muppet of the Season. Someone decided it would be fun to light up some Grass Trees on the Blackpoint Track last night . Resul...ting in a significant bushfire in the D'Entrecasteaux National Park. Requiring dozens of fire fighters to contain. In the words of one of the responding DBCA fire crew " this behaviour is careless and reckless" . Risking life and property. It's a timely reminder we are now in Bushfire season. With record numbers of West Aussies wandering out yonder this year, we can unfortunately expect there will be the occasional idiot who has overdosed on a BCF camping gear shopping spree and has no idea about life in the bush and likely to start a wildfire . Your property and bushfire plans need to be prepared now.
