25.01.2022 This verse, though many love it and many have it high up on their favourite verses a lot of us are prone just to reading it without taking in the full beauty of the verse and the full weightiness of our sinful state and the insanity of God's love. GOD SHOWED HIS LOVE - God's love is infinite in that in eternity past the Father loved the Son, the Son loved the Spirit and the Spirit loved the Father and all of those different combinations. God is Love and can be love because fo...rever He has displayed it. But many of us brush off the greatness of His love. FOR US - Now often this is a part we just assume, yeah of course God loves us, of course God is for us, we are His creation, His children. We often even go so far as implying that it should be expected that God loves us and maybe we even think we deserve it. IN THAT WHILE WE WERE YET SINNERS - This is the part where it all comes to a head, so yes God is Love and He has displayed it to us but how little do we deserve God's love? The word 'Sinners' here, in most Christians circles has become just a normal word, almost interchangeable with 'Humans' or 'Teenagers' (If you will haha) but we so often forget what sin is. SIN is us saying to God in our every thought, word and deed, "YOU, GOD don't matter, I don't need you, I am okay on my own, I don't care about your laws, I don't care that you are the only one that deserves worship, I don't care that I defame your name, I don't care that I am created in your image yet I do the things you Hate, I don't care that I exalt myself well beyond where I should be and bathe in the Your glory that I have stolen from You." In everything we have done or will do, on this earth, we have in some way not properly glorified God or not properly worshiped Him, whether it be a part of our heart motive, a blatant decision to disobey or just an unknown sin. In everything we have done we have disrespected God, committing Cosmic Treason. To put that in perspective, committing Treason against Australia will get you 25 years to life. Image how much more of an offence this is to the infinite and eternal God. AND YET! CHRIST DIED FOR US - God is so amazing, God is so loving, God is so merciful and God is so gracious, that despite no merit of our own, but rather us only deserving the punishment for our actions GOD, loved us, that He would offer His PERFECT, ONE AND ONLY SON, in place of us, guilty, vile and helpless sinners, who are self proclaimed enemies of God. The magnificence of this, the Majesty and Holiness of God should bring us to our knees! The the praise of His glorious grace! Soli Deo Gloria!

22.01.2022 God save us from living in comfort while sinners are sinking into hell! - Charles Spurgeon

20.01.2022 As I saw this though it is an awfully upsetting story about the struggle in this mans life (Definitely not caused by some hidden sin in His life - note Job [The book, not him being a Pastor]). I ask you to bear with me as I carefully lay out where my heart broke, I pray that you may be able to consider this. I was hit hard, really hard and I think the thought might be something we all could consider as many here have studied theology, many have a heart for missions, for pasto...ring for serving God and serving His Kingdom. And the question that I ask, is 'If I do great things for God's kingdom and no body knows my name, would I still want to do it?' Because I will be honest, many times when I desire to serve God in great ways, when I look up to Carson, MacArthur or Molher, I say to myself, I want to be able to effect many peoples lives through preaching, teaching or counselling or things like that. But the problem is there are much greater men than I (though in humility they wouldn't admit it). For how they handle the pride which must be so tempting to indulge in, or how they responsibly use the money with which they recieve. For I am like the man who has been given one talent, the small responsibilities of life and I still struggle greatly to honour God with what I have and to give up that which I don't need or deserve. But I am worse than the man who has been given one talent, because I use the one talent the small amount I have been given and go out and 'make it' two talents BUT I then take that for myself and don't give it back to God. I am a glorify thief and can't handle the responsibility of being known by others for my deeds because I am awful at glorifying God with giving Him the praise He deserves for every one of my 'good' actions. Soli Deo Gloria!

17.01.2022 "17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him." - John 3:17 It is easy to read this verse and think to ourselves, "That means we should never talk about sin, never talk about the law of God, never talk about God's judgement and wrath". And honestly if we were taking our opinion of that based solely on this verse I'd have to agree. But we have four complete books written about Christ's life and min...istry on this earth, in which Christ regularly mentions God's law, the need for repentance, the judgment of God in Hell. Which is interesting when we consider John 3:17, this gives it a new light. All of this talk about sin, God's perfect standard, God's law, God's wrath and judgement. What point is Jesus trying to make if He isn't condemning people? Let me explain it this way, Imagine you go to a Doctor and you walk in and he says, "I can save your life, a donor has offered one of their kidneys so that you can be saved!" And you would look at the Doctor and say, "What are you on about? I don't need a Kidney transplant, mine both work perfectly fine." BUT if you walk in and the Doctor says, "I've got some bad news, after your tests last week, I have looked at the results and they are definite, you have Kidney disease and are going to die very soon unless we give you a transplant." And you would look at the Doctor and say, "Oh no, that isn't good news, whatever am I going to do? I can't do anything to stop it can I?" Then the Doctor says, "It's okay! I can save your life, a donor has offered one of their kidneys so that you can be saved!" And of course you jump with joy and excitement! You are over the moon that there is a way to be saved, only because you first heard the bad news and knew your state. So what Christ is doing, is exposing our sin by the law, using the law to show to us that not one of us live up to God's standard, none of us are holy in His sight but rather we all have a dreadful disease, SIN. We are all going to die and deserve to suffer the consequences of our sinfulness, we deserve the wrath of God for our disobedience. But that is why this verse makes sense, He isn't coming to just tell us we deserve punishment but He has also come to offer the only way of salvation! He has come to offer us ETERNAL LIFE, through His perfect life, death, burial and resurrection! The Bad News of our sin is followed by the BEST NEWS of Christ's righteous sacrifice! JESUS CHRIST DIED TO SAVE SINNERS! That is what this verse means, that yes Jesus used the law to expose our sin but at the same time he offered the salvation from SIN!

10.01.2022 Life is too short and hell is too hot to just play church. - Pastor Larry Osborne

03.01.2022 "Paul, a servant of Jesus Christ, called to be an apostle, set apart for the Gospel of God" - Romans 1:1 Paul here acknowledges three things. Firstly that he is a servant of the Living God. He calls himself a servant.... What does that mean? It has two connotations attached, the Hebrew meaning and the Greek meaning. Hebrew meaning, as in what the Jews understood servants to be, that it is an honour, that he loves his master and is in a place of respect because of whom he serves. Greek meaning, what the Greeks understood servants to be, just downright slaves, no choice, no honour and no value. Paul here is referencing both, He acknowledges the wretched sinner he is, yet that the honour God has called him to in servitude to Him. Secondly, Paul acknowledges that He was called by God to this office, that apart from God he would never desired the position. Thirdly, Paul makes it clear what his life's goal is, the Gospel of Jesus Christ. 'Set apart', meaning made special, made Holy. His utmost aim is the spreading of the Gospel. (As will become more clear as we continue the journey through Romans) Paul loved God and Paul feared God. Do I? And so there are three things I must ask myself; Do I consider it to be an honour to serve the living God? Do I consider this life, my own? Is it my desire to do the things God has commanded me? Through this series we will be doing a lot of looking at the things Paul says, thinks and does and will simply ask the question, Do I?
