25.01.2022 On Tuesday, Francesca Pandolfino, Greens candidate for Perth and I attended the Nannas for Native Forests mass morning tea. Our native forests need to be protected! See Francesca’s live video from event with an appearance by yours truely

22.01.2022 A gas-led recovery? What a load rubbish! You know it, I know it, everybody knows it! The only thing a 'gas-led recovery' will achieve is exacerbating climate change and destroying WA's beautiful landscape with fracking (which the McGowan government fully supports by the way). This Wednesday in North Beach, Clean State will be presenting their plan for REAL recovery in our state by creating thousands jobs that doesn't come at the cost of our environment. Come see what can be done in Scarborough! I'll be at the event if you wanted to have a chat Register here: https://www.cleanstate.org.au/community_conversation

21.01.2022 Our hard borders and quarantine has been a huge success in WA and the Greens support continuing with these measures as the health advice suggests. However, we have thousands of West Australians still stuck overseas that want to come home but can’t because of the strict regulations. Those that make it through are denied many essential human rights whilst in quarantine! We need to see more done to get stranded West Australians back home and greater transparency with quarantine processes!

21.01.2022 WA has to be next! Conversion therapy is extremely damaging and dangerous. It has to end

18.01.2022 The reason why they get away with paying no taxes is because they know by donating to the major parties, the major parties will look the other way. And then they get the added bonus on having influence in parliament!! It’s a win-win situation for gas giants, and a loss for the average Aussie! WA Labor has taken thousands of dollars in donations from these industries. It’s time to get corporate money out of politics! The Greens do not accept corporate donations, they only speak for the people and the environment

16.01.2022 So we had our Weekend of Action event today. Absolutely beautiful day with a lot of community activity going. I have to be honest and say today was one of our more challenging doorknocks, we went to a new area to reach even more people. Nevertheless, we persisted, gave it our all and I know we have changed people’s minds. The community is amazing and the feeling for change is growing.... Thanks to all the amazing volunteers that came and helped out today

15.01.2022 This past Wednesday I went to Clean State’s Community Conversation event for a Scarborough. What was clear was that the Scarborough community wants action on Climate Change and Green jobs! Here were some ideas from the community: A local wind farm and solar panels on public schools... Public housing with insulation and retro fitting established houses to be energy efficient conservation of native fauna and flora, more trees and green spaces, community gardens and honey farming. More and accessible public transport and more bicycle infrastructure Sustainable tourism, beach trials First Nations jobs and leadership Circular industry, stronger government mandates and government policy change These are all things the Greens will implement and fight for! Check out the amazing artwork Zoe made while the community was listing their ideas. You can find Zoe on Instagram @_zoestreet_

11.01.2022 Happy Wear It Purple Day everyone! Today we celebrate the wonderful diversity and exciting future our LGBTQIA+ youth brings to Western Australia. Always be proud!

11.01.2022 Today I attended the TEDx Perth’s climate leadership summit with Kimberly Smith, Greens candidate for Mining & Pastoral and Francesca Pandolfino, Greens candidate for Perth. It was very interesting to hear what steps the WA community can take to combat the climate crisis. Hear our thoughts in Kim’s live below.

09.01.2022 It is #nationalthreatenedspeciesday today. I'd like to bring your attention to one of my favourite (and very very threatened) Australian animals, the Night parrot . Night parrots are so rare and elusive, that they were once thought to be extinct until a few sightings were made since 1979. One of those very rare sighting were made a couple of weeks ago here in WA on Martu Country in the Pilbara by the Kanyirninpa Jukurrpa (KJ) rangers. Wild fires are the biggest threat to the...se beautiful birds. We know with the climate crisis wildfires will increase, especially here in Western Australia. We need to act drastically to fight this fight. The longer we take to address the crisis, the bigger the already growing threat becomes to unique species here in WA that I know so many of us care about. WA Labor's climate policies are really not good enough. They are a merely a mask for the climate damage that will be done by their support of the gas industry and fracking (not to mention all the habitat destruction this will cause too!) The Greens will act on Climate Change to ensure we reduce the risks to our bio diversity. We will focus on WA Green Economy that creates thousands of jobs and at the same time fights the climate threat.

08.01.2022 Hi everyone! The Greens WA is launching our first fundraising event of the election campaign, and we’re trying something new! An escape room!... It’s sort of like an interactive quiz where you have to solve a bunch of riddles, puzzles, codes whilst following a narrative. The theme for this room is Escape 2020, so basically you’ll have to solve some 2020 themed puzzles in under one hour! We’ve made a tutorial room, I’ll link it in the comments, It’ll give a better idea of how it all works and what to expect. We’ve made it completely accessible to people of all ages and abilities, so give it a try! Similar to a quiz night we definitely recommend making a team, but with this event you can all meet in person and zoom into the fundraiser as a team or tune in individually and all play over zoom, either way it’s going to be fun. There’ll also be a prize for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd fastest teams if you really want to test your smarts. The whole event will be online.

07.01.2022 We had our first Scarborough door knock today... And it was AWESOME !!! Such a lovely day and some great conversations with locals. Looking forward to the next one If you are keen to join the next door knock or help out in any other, please DM me and we can have chat

06.01.2022 After so many years of strong opposition from community to this, Australia still permits the live export of animals. It’s cruel and inhumane. I’m currently at the Stirling Bridge in Freo to use my voice to Stop Live Exports! Remember your vote can help end this #stopliveexports

06.01.2022 Make no mistake, this does not just happen on a national level, it happens here in WA too! WA Labor continuously takes donations from fossil fuel companies companies. How do you think gas exploration and fracking gets the go ahead when the vast majority of West Australia opposes it? Why do you think fossil fuel companies gets away with paying no tax? Because their money has the say in parliament, not the West Australian people. We have to hold WA Labor to account, big corporate donations do not belong in politics!

05.01.2022 This morning the amazing Nannas for Native Forests had a meeting with the Minister for Forestry, Dave Kelly. These incredible women have stood up to deforestation because they understand how important it is to preserve our native forests. We need to stand with them and make protecting our forests a key issue this coming election! I was there with Diane Evers, Greens MLC for South West and Francesca Pandolfino, Greens candidate for Perth to stand in solidarity with the N...annas who hosted the most amazing morning tea along with WA Forest Alliance. Did you know we have lost 90% of our South Western forests already? Our forest protection laws are so weak in this state that logging companies can still get away with chopping down Old Growth forests! We need forests to sequester carbon dioxide and fight the climate crisis, that is vital. But it's not only just that, so many animals are reliant on the forests for their homes, by removing these forests we are increasing the extinction rate for these animals. These forests are sacred for our First Nations people, destroying these forests is a direct attack on the heritage of the oldest cultures in the world. The forests bring us rain, rain in the southwest has decreased as a direct result of deforestation. We as West Australians need to stand up and protect our state's natural beauty. Send an email to Mark McGowan to end Native Logging here: https://wafa.org.au/join-in/#emailpremier We need to make our vote count, vote Green to protect our forests and climate

04.01.2022 Why is this not surprising? Because we all know already that this is true! The state government prevent scientists from speaking out because they want to protect their their corporate donors, whether that be from fossil fuel industries all the way through to property developers! We have to start listing to the experts!!!... The Greens will always make choices around science and evidence!

02.01.2022 Amazing what people power can achieve! 30,000 people sent letters to try and stop oil and gas industries from destroying Ningaloo reef - and it worked!!! But as Alison says below, Ningaloo is still not safe from destruction, we have to stop WA Labor from allowing further industrial development like SubSea7. We had a huge victory today, but there is still a lot to be done.

01.01.2022 This wonderfully written piece analyses exactly how lackluster the McGowan government has been on LGBTQIA+ issues. They have done much at at for equality. Vote for a party that puts equality at the front. Vote Green.

01.01.2022 Senator Rachel Siewert has given her all for the Greens in the senate for the last 15 years. Her tenacity, sincerity and fight for people and planet has been a big inspiration for myself and for many others. Rachel will be missed and will not easily be replaced, and I know she will give everything she can until she walks out of parliament on her last day there. Thanks for everything you have done Rachel.
