24.01.2022 "We'd like to get more bookings' is what we hear all the time from the folks we work with at Community Centres across NZ & Aus. The good news is there are lots of small actions you can take RIGHT NOW to make your facilities more visible and bookable for potential customers. We've pulled together this free guide to give you some ideas for free (or very cheap) tactics that can increase bookings. Click on the link below head to the page to download it. Tell us what you think - or share your ideas! https://bit.ly/2NfGvTa

21.01.2022 Sharing this awesome initiative from Porch Placemaking encouraging people to get creative with their space and connect (safely) with their neighbours. We've loved seeing chalk pictures, bear hunts and Anzac memorials brightening up our streets and homes, so let's take it next level and get stuck into Porch Placemaking. Check it out here:https://www.facebook.com/porchplacemaking/

20.01.2022 Thanks so much to Sport Waitkere for hosting SpacetoCo and sports clubs from across West Auckland. There is increasing demand from community groups to use and get access to local spaces for community groups, classes and social functions, and a matching desire from local sports clubs to increase bookings and revenue from venue hire. Sport Waitkere and SpacetoCo co-designed an evening for Sports Clubs in the West to come together, discuss their goals and challenges that they ...face sharing their space and map out the current customer journey. We pitched our big idea for how clubs can collaborate through SpacetoCo to create a network of bookable local spaces that will enable increased community bookings for all involved. Lots of ideas were shared between the groups about alternative revenue streams for sports clubs, so we’re excited to share some success stories soon! See more

20.01.2022 Thanks to Sport Waitkere for hosting SpacetoCo for a Coffee Chat where we talk all about how Sports Clubs can find alternate revenue opportunities. If your committee is thinking about how they get more sustainable income for their club in 2021 - check out this chat for lots of ideas and inspiration

19.01.2022 Over 2 years ago we appeared on Shark Tank Australia and what a ride it was! Just this past weekend, our episode appeared on YouTube, so you can now watch it in FULL and it's proving popular SpacetoCo not only survived the 'Tank', we recently relaunched a whole new site during a global pandemic Looking back on this footage makes us realise just how far we have come, how much we needed to learn and that you can measure business growth by the number of grey hairs popping up Be sure to jump on and take a look and then read the comments - they are hilarious! https://bit.ly/2D834re

18.01.2022 All of us are connected to local businesses who we want to see survive and thrive post-COVID. So here are some starter ideas we thought of for some small businesses in our communities. Do you have other ideas to share? Lets see them It might just be the difference that gives hope to a small business going through a tough time! Add your ideas in the comments below!

18.01.2022 Where to begin to describe this incredible space 312 Hub in Onehunga, NZ is all about making the arts accessible to youth and providing a space for peeps to experiment, test, trial and create their wildest dreams. Bright murals are splashed across virtually all its walls, welcoming free-spirited thinking and creating this indescribable positive buzz. The space is a reflection of the core values it was created on. In an interview with 312 Hubs managing director, Amiria Pui...a-Taylor, she said We have 3 simple core values which we live and breathe in the space. Aroha meaning Love, Manaaki meaning to uplift everyones mana and integrity and Tautoko to be supportive at all times. What a beautiful and inspiring mindset. Our NZ director, Elle, has been working closely with 312 Hub and helping them activate their art spaces. Read more about 312 Hubs space sharing journey by clicking here: https://bit.ly/2WLHHTC

18.01.2022 Supporting small doesn't have to be limited to just popping in to your local cafe for a coffee (although, that is still a pretty awesome!)... Here's a few different ideas how you can make a difference to local businesses: 1Show some online love! Let your friends know about your favourite spot is for an avo on toast, leave a couple of star ratings or share a pic of some local coffee art. By letting a few peeps know where's some amazing local hotspots, you can help some loc...al businesses. The best part? You don't even have to get off the couch! 2Gift vouchers! Don't know about you, but sometimes we find it hard to find that perfect present... so why not treat someone special to a meal or a shopping spree on you? Buy a gift card to some local stores or restaurants - guaranteed that someone will love discovering new places to shop or dine. 3 Book an event space! Maybe you have a special celebration coming up, or are looking for a place to run a quick training session - why not outsource the venue? Local businesses can earn a little extra cash by hiring out their space PLUS you'll discover some pretty amazing space-gems tucked away in the community. We'd love to hear how you're supporting small businesses! Share your ideas and stories in the comments below.

18.01.2022 Newly listed space alert! Pavilion Warehouse is STUNNING event space in Perth's northern suburbs that's the brain child of Host Megan. Megan is all about creating communities through space sharing. She created Pavilion Warehouse to be a place people can have the event of their dreams without needing to compromise on location or budget. We absolutely love that mindset. Her space is a beautiful, classy blank canvas that's super flexible for all kinds of booking reasons. ...From meetings to workshops, parties to photoshoots - this is an amazing option in Perth's northern suburbs. View more details of Megan's space by clicking this link https://bit.ly/2UDtg2k

14.01.2022 We don't know about you, but we love the character that historic buildings add to a space. This stunning Perth venue was once a military mess hall where officers used to meet and dine. Now, it's a gorgeous venue with a fully serviced bar, pool tables and a courtyard area! Talk about space transformation...imagine hosting a party beneath that amazing arched roof

14.01.2022 We recently headed into Inglewood (WA) to see the newest placemaking project by Inglewood on Beaufort - part of the amazing Town Team Movement. The team has created what they call an 'Inglenook' which is a space that can be used by the community at any time. The redesigned patch of ground is a phenomenal achievement and has been constructed using quality landscaping materials. What was once an unused and uninspiring plot of land in front of a grey 70's building has been transformed. When we suggested listing on SpacetoCo, the team jumped at the idea. So here it is - bookable by the hour for FREE and a mere $10 per hour for commercial use: https://bit.ly/34ZANOZ. The 'nook' is surrounded by several cafes and other amazing Inglewood businesses.

13.01.2022 How is everybody coping heading back into the office this week? We havent ventured back into the city yet, partly to reduce the risk and also because with folks based in Perth, Auckland and Kathmandu in our team, we're already set up for remote first working. We've definitely all benefited from getting a bit of commute time and more family time as well. Many of us have experienced the benefits of more flexible set ups during the lockdown, and now is the time for businesses to start taking remote working seriously. It helps our traffic, our childcare and work life balance. But what will happen to all that space if the remote first trend continues? We offer some advice in this fantastic article in Stuff by Katie Kenny. https://bit.ly/3e3rYoR

13.01.2022 Brilliant initiative and work by our friends Maker + Co. Cant wait to be involved in assisting the program.

12.01.2022 Although we feel very lucky to be back in Level 1 in New Zealand, we know the recovery for our events and hospitality industry is going to take a long time. That's why we're working with Women in Events New Zealand to fundraise for Save Our Venues NZ by creating a collaborative eBook. The idea is simple - the brightest and best of NZ events and hospitality are coming together to create a beautiful book with recipes, guides and tips for anyone to create a very special 'Night to Remember' at home. We've already got some AWESOME collaborators, but we're happy to have more. To read more and offer to contribute, check out our briefing form here: https://bit.ly/2Y4FaVt

12.01.2022 Yes! We're seeing green shoots of community booking inquiries on https://bit.ly/2LFnbOq. Prior to COVID-19 we saw so many curious and interesting ways for people to connect. More recently we are seeing bookings that reflect the changing times.... a private Zoom session, fitness classes with social distancing, small gatherings for a max of 20... What never changes is our basic human need to connect

11.01.2022 Can street spaces really be a way to support local? ABSOLUTELY! Spaces can certainly be a tool to drive local, economic development! How? Just take a look at the Shire of Toodyay... The council has listed a few street spaces with community groups and small businesses in mind. These spaces can be booked to set up a market stall or pop up retail spot as a different way to engage with the community. Now locals walking by can discover a new brand, meet the peeps who r...un the shop and, best of all, show their support! How AMAZING is that? It's seeing how space sharing can support local, that we do what we do (and we love it!) (Also, if you want to check out some of Shire of Toodyay's epic spaces.... click here: https://bit.ly/3gR4qoL)

10.01.2022 Love this article on the potential of our currently ghostly suburban streets to become hubs for people to work locally. Do you think this could work where you are? https://www.domain.com.au//how-our-suburbs-can-become-mi/

10.01.2022 Space for... collaborating. Sometimes a Zoom call is just not the same as having those in-person brainstorms, discussions and creative sessions, huh? So what do we do? We work around it! ... Part of why SpacetoCo started was to create a platform for peeps to find a place to meet, connect and collaborate. We know there are small business owners looking for a place to have a quick staff meeting, or an entrepreneur looking to host a product launch or a cafe manager needing somewhere quiet to get some admin done. We get it and we want to help. We want to support local by giving you a way to find a space to get the job done. Photo: Maison, West Perth (https://bit.ly/3j2KNfi)
