24.01.2022 We're changing up our menu next year. We'll keep the favorites, but also be adding The Big Chicken - a massive schnitzel, nearly too big for the brioche bun - served with lettuce, tomato and red onion with a choice of sauce for just $9. We also now have stubby/can coolers in stock too - $8 with any drink purchase or $10 on their own.

24.01.2022 No news is good news, sometimes..... Yet another update - we've had some essential plumbing work done today which will hopefully allow us to trade next week. At this stage though, we are unable to open this weekend and will instead host a free private gathering for friends that have helped us out trying to get open. ... As we can not legally trade, we can not allow the public to come in as we can't sell food or alcoholic/non-alcoholic drinks at this stage to anyone. Unfortunately, it's a no-brainer - we can't and won't sell or even cook food for a private gathering much less jeopardize our liquor license by selling drinks without food being available. Many fingers are crossed that we can get council to inspect the work that has been done early next week and that the work done is suitable so that we can trade. At this stage, we are hoping to trade from Tuesday and host an "official" opening next Saturday, but this does depend on council being able to confirm the work we've had done is acceptable and that they have the time to inspect it. We will announce the official grand opening as soon as we have 100% confirmation this time from council. Thanks for all your patience, we hope to let you all know what is happening in the coming days.

23.01.2022 First world problems :( We've got some kegs that we need gone in the next 48 hours... We can't advertise the prices online due to liquor licensing - but we know you'll love the prices.... Grab some beer battered chips and have some tap brews at cheap as chips pricing tomorrow and COB Saturday.

23.01.2022 So it looks like we've reached some middle group regarding lock-in's between us and some of our machine providers. We'll host out first lock in on then 2nd Tuesday of the month, which means the first one will be on December 8th. The cost will be $25 and we'll run the lock-in from 6pm until 9pm.... $25 will get you all games you can play on pinball and "classic" arcade games + a cheese burger + half serve of beer battered fries + a soft drink We will also have gluten free option available (no extra charge) and a veggie/vegan option available - $3 extra due to out increased costs. At this stage, we are still making a decision on weather or not Buck Hunter, Daytona and (when it arrives) Air Hockey will be included in the free line up - purely because maintenance on these is higher. We'll officially launch this later this week, but as per our previous post, we will need 20+people to make this viable. Should we go ahead with these events, we'll most likely sell tickets via Eventbrite and if we don't get the numbers required, we'll refund your payment.

19.01.2022 Thanks to everyone for all your patience. The long wait for you, and even longer wait for us is just about over. We'll be open from midday tomorrow (Friday 2nd) until late and all weekend including the Monday public holiday.... Please note we are limiting patrons to 25 at one time for this weekend. There will be plenty of food, games and some special tap discounts while initial stock remains. Looking forward to meeting you all.

19.01.2022 Hi to all the friends of Spacies. We have attempted to contact council with no response, so unfortunately we will not be open to the public tomorrow - fingers crossed for early next week. Please understand that Toowoomba Council is very busy at this time of year due to Carnival of Flowers and maintaining Covid safe plans for venues such as ourselves.... We obviously can not, nor would we entertain the idea of trading without a food licence in place, and we can not legally sell alcohol without a food licence in place also. Food safety is of the upmost importance to us in addition to the many Covid safe plans we have in place for when you can visit us. We will still open as soon as is legally possible, please keep an eye of our Facebook page and Instagram (https://www.instagram.com/spacies.arcade) for updates. The extra days/week will be well used to make even more improvements to the venue. We know you are exited to visit us as we are to get the doors open. Love you Toowoomba.

19.01.2022 Greetings Toowoomba alien shooters. We're working really hard to get things right for the 12th, but we still have a few hurdles to jump yet - more info as it is available. Just after your opinion or suggestions....... We'll be likely restricted to 25 to 30 people when we open. What does everyone think about us taking bookings? We really don't want people lining up outside and then being disappointed if they can't get in or have to wait extended periods. It also makes sense from a social distancing point of view/security point of view to have people lining up. At this stage we are thinking of sessions where you'll have a minimum of 5 hours access via booking: Mon - Thu 10am-4pm (private bookings only and subject to a minimum of 10 people booking) Mon - Thu 4:30pm- late Fri-Sun 10am-4pm and 4:30-late The first option is there will be no booking fee, but if you don't arrive within 30 minutes of the time you say you'll arrive we may give away your booking. The 2nd option is we sell you a booking of $5 or $10 per person, and when you arrive we'll refund that booking in coins for use on the machines - but the booking is non-refundable and in this case, we may not allow any walk-ins to minimize staffing the front door. We don't want to do this, but we also want everyone that has shown us early love to have a chance to check out our venue as soon as they possibly can. More about out Covid-Safe plan will be published shortly. Can't wait to meet you Toowoomba.

18.01.2022 Hello Toowoomba. We are still planning on opening tomorrow. Council has given us verbal confirmation that we will be fine with an interim food license, however at this stage that haven't forwarded anything in writing. We will be in touch with council again today, but until we get something on paper we can not 100% commit to opening tomorrow.... As soon as we get the written confirmation, we will update everyone. At this stage, we are looking like doing 3 pre-booked services for Saturday - most likely Saturday 10am - 1:00pm, 1:30pm-5:00pm and then 5:30pm until Close. As soon as we have confirmation that we are fine to open tomorrow, we'll let you know how to get your hands on tickets. Those wishing to walk by and see if we have any room are welcome, but at this stage we will be encouraging people to book a free ticket rather that lining up outside and potentially being disappoint if they can't get in or if there is a long wait. We'll update everyone ASAP, and thanks for all the support and love you've shown us so far. Cheers The Spacies Team

18.01.2022 Good News! Come join us in saying goodbye to a year the majority of us would like to forget. We'll be open from 6pm on Thursday 31st and can trade until 2am on New Years Day.... We'll be providing free water and finger food throughout the night to keep you well hydrated and stop the hunger pains. Please note that we will not allow any new customers into the venue after a strict cut off time of 11pm. There will also be some in-house policies on the purchase of alcohol after 11pm, please contact us directly if you'd like further details. We want everyone to have a good time on New Years Eve.

18.01.2022 Johnny Bonde.... the man, the myth, the legend earlier today reclaimed his top spot (score to be verified) on Twin Galaxies (www.twingalaxies.com) for Pang! aka Buster Brothers on original hardware with a massive score of 3,444,970 - and there is still room for improvement. Congratulations Johnny and thanks for putting up your score at Spacies. Couple that with the amazing Daytona times put up by local, Wayne Hall - that is 9 Twin Galaxies records set at our venue over the weekend. Congratulations to both champions.

18.01.2022 Hello Toowoomba alien shooters. Well it's not set in stone, but the concrete is still drying. We're tentatively planned to open Saturday, September 12th. Address at 2 Club Lane (entry from Chronicle Lane).... Some exciting stuff to get you hyped - we are planning on having a "dry run" for the "friends of Spacies" to try out some grub and drinks on Saturday September 5th and we're offering 2 x 2 people guest passes for an advance preview to those who aren't a part of our inside group of helpers who will be here. Simply tell us why you and a friend would like this private invite - tell us stories about your arcade and pinball days, or tell us to what lengths you'd go to to attend this preview.... will you dress up as Mario and Luigi? Are you a classic arcade gaming or pinball legend that MUST be here so we can bow down to your greatness? 17.01.2022 Just a reminder to those still considering where to hold their Christmas party, time slots are filling up fast. We have several bookings where we have the entire venue booked from between 3 and 6 hours on Weekends in the lead up to Christmas, as well as other smaller groups where the venue will still be open to the general public. We will post a week out from a exclusive booking so that everyone knows we won't be open during certain hours and also post again on the day to rem...ind everyone of the times when we'll be unavailable to the general public. 17.01.2022 Thanks to everyone who attended our fourth Pinball competition, including several new faces. Congratulations to Toowoomba's "Mr. Pinball" - Alan Wynn, he has made it 4 from 4. Amazing stuff and another $30 voucher is coming your way sir. Lync Radke was hot on his heals though, and was just 3 points further back.... The next and last pinball comp for the year will be on December 13th from 2pm (subject to change if we get a venue booking - but we'll let you know) Thanks to everyone who came into Spacies today despite the pretty awful heat.

17.01.2022 Just a few games to get you excited when we finally open..... Did you know one of the games can land you $250 if you score 1 million points on it - or a cool $1,000 if you can score 5 million on it before the end of the year? Let us know which game you think it might be.... We're also working hard on our high score system which will show at least the top 30-50 scores on each machine - you won't need to be the best in town to get your names up in fancy LED pixels on our high score TV.

16.01.2022 We're nearly ready to open, just waiting on a council food licence. Beer taps are in, limited opening menu in the works. We still have a few more spots available for pinball machines - if you're a local and would like to site a pinball machine on profit share - let us know via PM.... If we accept your machine you will have that spot as long as you like. Send us a message if you'd like to site a machine and we can discuss the profit share agreement. 14.01.2022 Just to keep everyone in the loop. An issue has arisen that we weren't fully understanding of. At this point, we may have to postpone our opening yet again. ... We are so sorry to give you this news, but rest assured, the doors will be open as soon as is humanly possible. Please understand that there are lots of hurdles to jump though with local, state and government legislation, and until that is done, we can not legally trade. We will not disappoint when the doors open and we hope to have some amazing food and drink specials to make up for yet another added delay. Stay tuned.

The Spacies Team is partial to arcade games like Donkey Kong, 1942, Toki, Daytona, Street Fighter and anything Neo-Geo.... Pinball... well Addams Family is great, so is Tommy & World Cup Soccer. So many amazing pinball machines out there including ones still being made. And if you like retro console - well you can't beat Tetris on the NES. We'll have plenty of retro consoles on rotation and may even run some competitions on the more modern ones like Nintendo Switch. Let us know what you'd like to see, we are here to to try to provide what you want to see. Just under 3 weeks and we should be good to go, we can't wait, and hope you can't either :)

13.01.2022 Hi Toowoomba. As we previously mentioned, we tentatively planned to open Tomorrow - best laid plans and all that. We are working really hard to get everything ready, and we are really close - but are just waiting on a few things before we can open the doors which are beyond our control. ... We are now hoping for either the 18th or 19th - but will definitely let everyone know when we have everything in place and are ready to see you. 09.01.2022 We got some much needed tidying up and maintenance done in the last couple of days, and will be open from 6pm tomorrow night for New Years Eye. We are lucky enough also to have Shane Sawle from the Gold Coast in town for a couple of days. He dropped in this afternoon and put up a couple of scores (Donkey Kong & Wonder Boy) that will probably take a bit of beating. Just a lazy 602,300 on Donkey Kong - first game in months - well short of his PB of 918,200. ... Don't feel bad if you can't beat these scores, Shane is ranked 3 in Australia (67th in the World) on Donkey Kong , and 2nd in Australia on Wonder Boy. Looking forward to seeing everyone tomorrow night - don't forget we'll be handing out some free food and bottles of water to soak up the drinks and will also be closing the doors to new customers as of 11pm and celebrating the New Year with those who wish to stay on past 11pm.
