It doesn’t get much more empowering than a class with an encouraging instructor and supportive people all working hard together. Group fitness is a great way to get a workout in without having to think or plan. Each class is structured with a warm-up, a balanced workout and a cool-down. The warm-up is designed to help you properly raise your heart rate while loosening your joints and muscles before jumping into strenuous activity. Proper Form It’s the fitness instructor’s job to not only show proper form, but to also make sure that everyone in the class is executing each exercise the right way. Not only is proper form important for your muscles to reap the most out of every exercise, but it also helps eliminate potential injuries. Variety Cardio boxing, bootcamp, spin, pump, Pilates, --the list goes on. There are several types of group classes offered by gyms and athletic clubs. Accountability Some facilities require members to sign up in advance for specific classes. This is a great way to keep yourself accountable for your workouts. If you’re signed up and it’s on your schedule, there’s a good chance you won’t skip it. Fun There’s really no other way to put it: Group fitness classes are fun. Between the upbeat music, a great workout and a group of people motivating each other along the way, it’s an enjoyable way to exercise.



21.01.2022 Healthier Chicken Adobo Substituting light meat for dark, and brown rice for white puts a healthy twist on traditional comfort food. Yields 4 servings Ingredients... Brown Rice 2 cups water 1 cup brown rice Chicken Adobo 2 pounds boneless chicken breasts, or skinless drumsticks or thighs 1/2 cup low-sodium soy sauce 3/4 cup apple cider vinegar 1/2 cup water 2 bay leaves 5 garlic cloves, peeled and smashed with the side of a knife 1 teaspoon whole peppercorns Directions In a small pot, add brown rice and 2 cups water and bring to a boil over medium-high heat. Once water is boiling, reduce heat to medium-low and cover, allowing the rice to simmer until liquid is completely absorbed, about 40 minutes; keep covered so the steam doesn’t escape. While the rice cooks, combine the chicken, soy sauce, vinegar, water, bay leaves, garlic and peppercorns in a large pot. (As an option, you can cover and marinate the chicken overnight.) Bring the chicken to a boil over high heat. Lower the heat; cover and simmer for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally. Remove the lid and simmer until the sauce is reduced and thickened, and the chicken is tender, about 20 minutes. Once the rice has absorbed all liquid, turn off the heat and let sit, covered, for 10 minutes. Uncover and fluff the rice with a fork. Serve chicken over brown rice. #SpaClubsHealthyFridayRecipe
