25.01.2022 Immune-friendly recipes Give your immune system a helping hand with these immunity-boosting recipes that are packed with vitamins and minerals to help you stay healthy. Spring vegetable broth with shredded chicken... Ingredients 1 tbsp olive oil 1 large chicken breast, skin on 500ml chicken stock 1 slice sourdough bread, cut into cubes 2 tbsp grated parmesan 2 large handfuls spring greens, finely sliced 4 asparagus spears, trimmed, halved and cut into chunky pieces 40g fresh or frozen peas 400g can borlotti beans, drained and rinsed Directions 1. Heat oven to 200C/180C fan/gas 6. Heat 1 tsp of the oil in a pan, brown the chicken, then remove. Bring the stock to the boil in the same pan, add the chicken and cook for 5 mins. Turn off the heat, cover with a lid and leave to stand for 30 mins. 2. Put the bread cubes on a baking tray. Drizzle with the remaining oil, some salt and the Parmesan. Bake for 6 mins until crunchy and golden. Remove and scrape off the tray onto a plate. 3. Remove the chicken from the pan and slice it. Bring the stock to the boil again and add the greens, asparagus and peas. Cook for 1 min, then add the beans and chicken. Heat everything through, then pour into bowls and top with the Parmesan toast to serve. #HealthyFoodFriday

18.01.2022 Special Fried Rice Ingredients: 2 3/4 cups water... 1 1/2 cups white rice 3 tablespoons vegetable or wok oil, 3 turns of the pan 2 eggs, beaten 2 cloves garlic, chopped 2 inches fresh ginger, minced or grated 1/2 cup shredded carrots, available in pouches in produce section, a couple of handfuls 1 small red bell pepper, diced 4 scallions, thinly sliced on an angle 1/2 cup frozen peas 1/3 cup Tamari, dark aged soy sauce or regular soy sauce Directions: 1. Bring water to a boil. Add rice, reduce heat, cover and cook over medium low heat until tender, 15 to 18 minutes. Spread rice out on a cookie sheet to quick cool it. 2. Heat a wok, wok shaped skillet or large nonstick skillet over high heat. Add oil to the pan. Add egg to hot oil and break into small bits as it scrambles. When eggs are scrambled, add garlic and ginger to the pan. Add carrots, pepper, scallions to the pan and quick stir-fry veggies 2 minutes. Add rice to the pan and combine with veggies. Fry rice with veggies 2 or 3 minutes. Add peas and soy sauce to the rice and stir fry 1 minute more, then serve. #HealthyFoodFriday #StayAtHomeSaveLives

08.01.2022 8 tips to help you lose weight 1. Do not skip breakfast Skipping breakfast will not help you lose weight. You could miss out on essential nutrients and you may end up snacking more throughout the day because you feel hungry.... 2. Eat regular meals Eating at regular times during the day helps burn calories at a faster rate. It also reduces the temptation to snack on foods high in fat and sugar. 3. Eat plenty of fruit and veg Fruit and veg are low in calories and fat, and high in fibre 3 essential ingredients for successful weight loss. They also contain plenty of vitamins and minerals. 4. Get more active Being active is key to losing weight and keeping it off. As well as providing lots of health benefits, exercise can help burn off the excess calories you cannot lose through diet alone. Find an activity you enjoy and are able to fit into your routine. 5. Drink plenty of water People sometimes confuse thirst with hunger. You can end up consuming extra calories when a glass of water is really what you need. 6. Eat high fibre foods Foods containing lots of fibre can help keep you feeling full, which is perfect for losing weight.
