23.01.2022 Our local Spanish style sword-slingers have their awesome singlesword tournament on again this year! It is specifically designed to encourage new fencers into the tournament scene by restricting entry to beginners, but with the added fun of the "boss fight" feature. I'm so annoyed that I don't get to feature as the "Bolognese Boss" this year due to being out of town. :( Jump in and get involved with these friendly and inclusive ladies + gents!

Classes have started for the year with our existing members progressing toward attaining their level 1 rank in the coming weeks. New members are always welcome. You do not need anything specific and the first class is free!

22.01.2022 Relay for life - so I was thinking that we should probably start getting prepared for this. Last year we raised over $10,000 and I'm hoping to raise even more this year. To do that though we need a concerted, unified effort/voice to get the message out there to friends, family and the international hema community. It was clear from last year that the R4L organisation itself is not really up to this task (they interviewed me over the phone and wrote an article but this didn't ...actually go anywhere). I'm thinking we need pics, videos, logos, press statements ready to go... Other media stuff... I don't know! All of which I am rubbish at and need help with. Lois did an awesome job with the logo/shirts last year and we need a similar effort this year! So... Who is up for the challenge?! 01.01.2022 First official adult class starts at 7pm Thursday the 19th at Rochedale State High. If anyone else is keen please feel free to come along! 1st class is free, $10 after that. Term discounts apply when paying ahead of time. Classes will generally consist of: 1. Warm-up and fencing specific strength and conditioning (adapted as needed for all fitness levels). 2. Technique work and paired drills to apply. 3. Technique sparring under controlled conditions.... 4. Free sparring for those with full HEMA kit. Games chucked in throughout. See more
