25.01.2022 Happy New Year! Lets hope that 2021 is a better year. I have been working on this series back in November and then got busy with xmas sessions. Finally finished it off over the last few days. I am loving this rain, it makes me feel very creative, though the lawn is long enough for cars to get lost in it! Street Libraries are popping up everywhere. Originally from the USA they are now worldwide and such a brilliant idea. This is a collection I have found on my travels around Cairns and the Atherton Tablelands and have created these 3 composites.

24.01.2022 A visit to the local rodeo, just for a change of pace! https://spannenburgphotography.blogspot.com//rodeo-comes-t

23.01.2022 Today...took a quick trip to Romania :) "Transylvania" is the first composite of a new black and white series, unnamed as yet. Mountains are from my home Bats are from the Cairns Esplanade The church steeples are from Innisfail

22.01.2022 Second photobook completed and received in mail yesterday! Australian Snowy Mountains 2019..all taken before the fires damaged a lot of this area. I believe these huts are still standing, luckily, as we don’t have a lot of rural historical buildings in Australia. Love these Milk photobooks. The print and paper quality is great! If you are needing any photobooks made from your images, yell out.

22.01.2022 This Un-Scene image from the Starry Night Series has been selected as a finalist in the annual Bluethumb artist award: "The Canefields" If you would like to vote go here: https://bluethumb.com.au/competitions/prize-2020/votes

22.01.2022 As my business of taking photos is closed for now, I am catching up on personal projects and photobooks. I have received various emails lately from my suppliers with great discounts (30-50%) off their quality books. If you are in need of a book designed (previous client or have your own images) now is a great time to palm this job onto me. I love preserving my holidays and photo trips into these books.

22.01.2022 Tools down and feet up! 2020 was a challenging year, it started slow in Summer as usual, then ramped down to zip thanks to covid, then slowly ramped up and ended in a frenzy! Thank you to all my lovely loyal clients.

14.01.2022 NEW WEBSITE is up and running! Yay! This finally has some of the artwork I have been busy accumulating for the past few years, from local landscapes/abstracts to portraits/commercial as well. Take a look www.spannenburg.com.au

14.01.2022 Most recent artwork: The Plantations: "The Teahouse" "Storm in a Teacup" "Calm Before the Storm"... This may appeal to my beautiful Innisfailian friends who will recognise some the buildings/facades in these images. The aim was to showcase some of the beautiful art deco architecture from Innisfail, Gordonvale, Mirriwinni, and Mourilyan, placed into a new environment of the Nerada Tea plantations as sturdy lone teahouses. Out on the verandah one can smell the rain already, and look forward to the cool break from the humidity. The birds squawk and take off breaking the quietness before the storm.

14.01.2022 Last week...a quick trip to the moon! Moonscapes Series Composite landscapes using 3 images each: local starry skys, a Hawaiian volcanic crater floor, and the other elements acquired locally.

09.01.2022 News! I have an exhibit showcasing 18 of the new Un-Scenes Project artworks. At Vivo starting Feb19 for one month.

09.01.2022 Finally my new filter system arrived for the 11-24 wide angle lens, my favourite at the moment, very little distortion...BUT due to its beautiful but large curved glass, filters are hard to come by. NiSi has made one specifically for this lens but it's HUGE and with my record of breaking filters...then...there had to be another solution. The lens came with a rear lens filter slot, for gelatine filters, BUT I found a company that makes gorilla glass filters just for this baby!... Yay! So after carefully replacing the existing rear filter slot with the one specific for these glass filters, which has screws the size of a gnats flea; mission accomplished and trial run complete. 16 stops ND meant for 5 minute exposures to try and get some nice cloud movement, in the middle of the day. The focus is a little off in the first couple, (had to manually focus as couldn't see through the lens with the filter on), but will get it right next time. Also took the tilt shift out for a run. 09.01.2022 Awesome long weekend thanks to the AIPP NQ Chapter! Visited Ravenswood, a perfect Qld town for photographers! It had it all from little details of rusted cars to the grand scale of silhouetted mining structures under the Milky Way! Perfect weather, awesome company (15 in total at different stages over the weekend) made some new friends, very friendly locals, and two brilliant pubs. The first man I came across was missing his right leg and most of his teeth, I was not in Kansas anymore! The moon was well behaved, not rising until we were finished with our nightly light painting but was there for the 4am long exposures for those keen to brave the cold. I generally hate camping, but this was one of the best camping trips ever! Pics downloading atm but will put some up here and on Instagram shortly.

09.01.2022 Let me fix those bare walls for you, get some art hanging on them...here's a small selection of NZ images.

06.01.2022 SO this is what happens when you stay at home...you get shit done!! Images are processed. Anyway Japan 2020 did not disappoint, the skiing was a bit sketchy towards the end, bit icey on the last day. I did manage to get out and about with the Canon snuggled in a backpack. Found some beautiful pine and birch forests, some awesome snowscapes and a gondola graveyard. Part 1: Snowscapes http://www.spannenburg.com.au/BlogSS/

05.01.2022 I have had to adapt my business to abide by the social distancing rules and have started doing a series of composites, utilising the images currently in my library. The first one is called the "Starry Night" series using the Milky Way as a base for the background. Some of these images have up to 8 elements from other photos in them. I am offering these as prints on metallic paper. A4 size $90 each or $240 for the series of 3 A3 size $150 each or $390 for the series of 3 PM or email if interested [email protected]

05.01.2022 New composite image gallery. Will be added to my website shortly. Found a new love during this isolation business. These are all images made from my photographs I have accumulated over the years..chewing up my hard drive. They all belong to a series of 3 for each theme. Being an animal lover, they all have at least one animal in them. Go to my new insta page https://www.instagram.com/shazspannenburgphotography/ to see them all in more detail....and yes they are chewing up more hard drive space due to the file sizes...ah well.

01.01.2022 THIS image was one of the fun ones, no mozzies or crocodiles to look out for at Ravenswood. Only ghosts apparently!
