As part of our strict quality control procedures, we regularly perform tests on our products to ensure they meet all relevant standards and our expectations. Today we tested the deflection of our 'Temporary Horizontal Safety Line' to ensure that the numbers quoted in our documentation were the same as the actual results.... 20.01.2022 Today’s #workerwednesday is a little different, more like a #waybackwhenwednesday. Way back to when Erik Ehnimb, the founder of SpanSet, contributed to the manufacture of the modern seatbelt first introduced by Volvo in 1959. Volvo approached the ribbon weaving companies AB Textilkonst and Klippan, co-owned by Erik Ehnimb, with instructions to develop a safety belt for its vehicles. Together with Volvo engineers, Klippan developed the rst car safety belt in the world, made o...f high-strength fabric ribbon. It was installed for the first time in 1959 and was a great success, and soon other manufacturers had also installed it. Thanks to the great demand, Erik Ehnimb founded the SpanSet company in Malmö in 1966. The ribbons produced by SpanSet were quickly and enthusiastically employed in many other areas, where up to that point, chains and wire ropes had been used. The customers appreciated the enormous load-bearing capacity of the new lashing and lifting belts. In 1967, Mr. Ehnimb founded SpanSet AG in Hombrechtikon in the Zurich highlands and additional companies in Germany, Italy, France, and England. Mick the 100km Mannequin should probably be defined as an assistant rather than worker. Nonetheless, Mick is an important member of SpanSet because he assists in a very important process that we do in-house, a process that is of high importance. Our purpose built facility in Western Sydney... has a dedicated Height Safety drop test tower and trained technician. Which enable us to test our safety harnesses before they reach the end user. James Gorry worked at heights for 30 years in the fabrication industry. Despite his knowledge and extensive experience, he took chances, and one horrible day those chances caught up with him. 04.01.2022 #throwbackthursday.Throwback to the late 1920s early 1930s when workplace safety looked very different during the construction of The Sydney Harbour Bridge. The Bridge workers from various trades often walked on exposed beams without any form of safety harness or handrail. The beams could be as narrow as 300mm and many tens of metres in the air. Scaffolding was not constructed unless it was essential to gain access to difficult to get to areas. ... Lunch breaks were often taken by workers sitting on exposed beams high in the air. Workers were frequently struck by high winds and rain, which made the steel structure slippery and very dangerous. At the end of the working day, workmen had to rush along the steel beams of the arch to points where they jumped into large boxes suspended on a crane rope, and were lowered down into barges which took them to shore. Thank goodness we have the Work Safety Procedures we do today.
