11.01.2022 Get around this for a great cause...

09.01.2022 SPARC’s new Podiatrist, Matt Clarke, managed a large PB and took home the state title in a dominant 5000m peformance last night! He also managed to make it in for his first day of work this morning fresh as a daisy after probably 3-4 hours of post race adrenalin affected sleep! Keep an eye for Matt at the clinic with more hours opening up, and also keep an eye on progress on the track as he’s starting to come into his own now...

08.01.2022 And the SPARC team keeps growing! This week we welcome podiatrist Matthew Clarke to our clinic! Matt graduated from La Trobe University with a Bachelor of Applied Science and Master of Podiatric Practice. Being an elite level track runner he has represented Australia at multiple championships and this has fueled his passion for understanding the link between podiatry and many sports.... https://www.sparc.com.au/staff/matthew-clarke 0882349707 SPARC Exercise & Sports Podiatry

05.01.2022 Research Wednesday: How important is the periodisation/organisation of your high intensity workouts for performance? This interesting study by Sylta et al viewed varied high intensity training organisation and progressions, and not surprisingly the adaptations to each protocol had large variation amongst individuals. There is definitely not just one correct path to chase good endurance adaptations, the key is work with the individual to find ‘what they positively respond to’ ...for their goals! Rigid periodisation definitely appears not as much of a priority as previously thought. Full paper: https://ntnuopen.ntnu.no//The+Effect+of+Different+High-Int

04.01.2022 The 6 day SA lockdown effective from midnight tonight is aiming to greatly reduce movement and face-to-face interactions to halt the spread of the latest covid-19 outbreak. The SA Government is asking the SA community to stay home except to get necessary groceries, to seek urgent medical care or in the event of an emergency. As such, for the next 6 days all ‘private practice podiatrists’ will need to re-schedule appointments that cannot be done via telehealth. Our top recepti...on staff at Sports and Arthritis Clinic will be in contact with our clients first thing tomorrow. We apologise for the inconvenience to the many clients waiting to see our Podiatrist Michael, and understand that many have been waiting weeks to see him! Some consultations, especially for many of you runners needing load management advice/direction, can utilise his Telehealth services in this period. However, a lot of SA runners may find a few lower-leg niggles get a nice 6 day period to settle down ! We will aim to accommodate/create more consultation time slots for the future as soon as possible. If you have any questions, please contact us at SPARC on 8234 9707, [email protected] PLEASE NOTE: Our medical team of Sports Physicians (essential workers), Dr Geoffrey Verrall & Dr. Duncan Walker will still be taking appointments.
