24.01.2022 Is your home Winter Fire Ready? Did you know each year, the Fire and Rescue NSW attends approximately 4,500 residential fires in NSW with approximately 30% of them occurring in winter months, and 47% of fires starting in the kitchen. To follow is a handy simple safety checklist to help keep homes fire safe this winter. Make sure you and everyone in your household follows the following safety advice.... Never ever leave cooking unattended. Keep Looking When Cooking Most importantly, have an adequate number of suitable smoke alarms installed throughout your home and make sure that you test them regularly. Make sure you and all your family know two safe ways out of every room in your home. Have a written home escape plan in case of fire and practice it regularly. If you have a fireplace in your home make sure the chimney is clean, and its properly ventilated If you have a fireplace always place a screen in front of it when in use. Check electric blankets for damage or frayed cords before placing on the bed. Take care to keep curtains, tablecloths and bedding away from portable heaters. Keep wet clothing at least 1 metre from heaters or fireplaces and never leave unattended. If you use a clothes dryer make sure you clean the lint filter each and every time you use it. Only use one appliance per power point and switch off when not in use. Always extinguish candles or any other open flames before going to bed. Always handle candles or any other open flame with care. Store matches or lighters in a secure place not accessible to young children. Avoid the use of outdoor heating and cooking equipment inside your home. The use of this type of equipment indoors could lead to the build up of carbon Monoxide which could be fatal. For any help concerning checking your electric blankets or testing your smoke alarms please contact or call into our office and we can help you out

23.01.2022 So far over 15cm of snow has settled in Oberon and more on the higher country at Shooters Hill and Black Springs. All roads around the district are currently closed. A friendly reminder to stay off the roads, stay inside and keep warm.

20.01.2022 A short time ago I put a post in my private page in regards to solar sales etc. After some questions from some customers in recent days I thought it pertinent to reiterate some of the things I said in that post. When looking into the purchase of a solar system for your home you need to do some homework. Roof space does not necessarily mean more panels. Your solar system should be designed to suit your electricity consumption not how much will fit on the roof. Your power bill... will give you an indication of your consumption and depending what meters are installed will indicate what portion is lights/power, hot water and maybe heating. This all needs to be taken into account and not just what your average daily consumption is which is an average total of all meters. When looking at systems you need to know what equipment is being used, (inverter, panels) etc. and what warranties come with them and what reputation they have. Does the install price include metering charges which could be in excess of $400 (single phase) if the installer is not a Level 2 accredited service provider. What warranties does the installer provide for their install and workmanship, (industry standard is 5yr minimum). If they are a reputable installer, all these questions should be able to be answered verbally on the spot and must be provided in writing to the customer along with many other documents once a system is installed. At Spark Electrical we design, supply and install quality equipment with written warranties, and also provide pre and after sales service and advice to our customers. Our systems equal our reputation so we aim to ensure our customers get value for money on their system and develop lasting relationships. If people are interested in looking at solar, or if you already have a system and want to look at upgrading to additional panels or battery storage or load shift devices, or are just interested in information on power saving options, give us a call. 02.01.2022 Almost every other day, Im emailed by people who have come across my website, SolarQuotes, after theyve bought and installed a solar system from a shonky oper...ator. Their one common lament is that they wished they had found my website before buying solar - because it would have given them the information they needed to know before signing on the dotted line. Ive rounded up the 7 most common mistakes people make when buying solar and put them into the following article. Give it a read if youre considering solar, or share it with someone else who is - because it might just save you from a regretful decision. - Finn Peacock
