25.01.2022 Sometimes we all need some help and support with our child, please feel free to attend the last session of the year and have your questions answered. A great place for professional advice ...
25.01.2022 Children learn as they play. Most importantly, in play children learn how to learn.
25.01.2022 Sustainability Tip Did you know that you can take your soft plastics to Coles or Woolworths that send the items to RED Group for recycling into other products? Our service currently collects our soft plastics and drops them off on a regular basis as we make a positive impact on our environment while educating the children about items that go in each bin. #WeAreSparrow #sparrowkaranadowns #sustainability #sustainabilitytips #sustainablefuture #reducewaste #reducereuserecycle #RedCycle #NationalRecyclingWeek #GoBeyondtheBin
22.01.2022 This year, our service is collecting donations for Share the Dignity through collecting essential items and we will be dropping off to our local Bunnings Warehouse Australia in November. Essential items needed: shampoo and conditioner toothbrush and toothpaste... bodywash or soap roll on deodorant sealed packets of pads and tampons All items are appreciated to benefit those in crisis experiencing period poverty as Share the Dignity believes that everyone deserves to be afforded the dignity so many of us take for granted. #WeAreSparrow #thesparrowway #sparrowkaranadowns #sharethedignity #itsinthebag #donate #christmasgiving

19.01.2022 Our Sustainability Officer is so excited to announce that we have had our second green bin delivered as we continue on our sustainability journey here at Sparrow Karana Downs. The children using rakes, brooms and buckets collect the leaves, branches and sticks around the playground as they demonstrate their respect for the environment while building positive relationships with one another as they participate in this experience. #WeAreSparrow #thesparrowway #sparrowkaranadowns #sustainability #reducereuserecycle #environment

13.01.2022 Look at the differences between a typical younger childs hand (left) and a typical older childs hand (right). I have parents asking regularly why their preschool aged child isnt able to write yet. This is why! Their hands (and brains) are still developing and are not fully formed. So what should they be doing to support this? PLAY!! Playdough, colouring, cutting, gluing, playing outside, digging in dirt, sensory play, dress up play, science experiments, beading, puzzles, throwing balls, etc. All of these things help their hands develop. When they are physically ready to write, they will! No need to rush them, they will show you when they are ready!

12.01.2022 Good morning Families With conditions improving throughout Queensland, our current COVID Health and Hygiene measures have been reviewed in line with the State. Please read the below updates: Our Concierge Service will be coming to an end effective from tomorrow - we are asking that families are still mindful of physical distancing and only have 1 parent enter the Service for drop offs and pick ups. Sanitiser will be available in the foyer area - please ensure you sanitise you...r hands and your childs hands upon entering the Service. We will still have spray sanitiser in the foyer for you to lightly spray your childs bag upon arrival - we are asking for all bags to please continue to remain at the Service for the full week of your childs attendance. We will be recommencing incursions over the next couple of weeks - we will advise dates for recommencement once we have contacted all relevant companies to ensure they have approved COVID Plans. With the cooler weather, we have begun using the indoor learning spaces, but will continue to use the outdoor learning spaces where possible as we have seen many positive outcomes with the children spending increased time outdoors. If your child is in the our Nursery, we ask that shoes are not worn inside the room as many of our children are crawling and utilise the floors, no shoes in this environment will minimise the germs the infants are exposed to. We will continue to maintain all of the extra cleaning measures we have put in place for the past few months to ensure we are doing everything possible to minimise the risk to your children. We ask that families remain vigilant with any signs or symptoms of illness in your child and keep your child/ren home if they are showing signs of being unwell. We will be continuing to ask for children to be clear of any symptoms and have a medical clearance for them to return to the Service after being unwell. We would like to thank all of our families for your support and understanding throughout this unprecedented event. We are very lucky to have such a wonderful community within our Service. A big thank you also to our amazing team who have all been super fabulous throughout the past few months. We are all so excited to be able to invite our families back into the Service and show off how fantastic our environments are - see you tomorrow!
11.01.2022 Today our Kindergarten children took time out to learn about Remembrance Day. LEST WE FORGET. Through this learning experience we set up a selection of materials our children that they could use to make a poppy. Our children had the freedom to create a poppy using many different mediums. Through this it became about the process not the end product. We can see the pride in themselves as they completed this and placed on our wall. We learnt about the fields of poppies
11.01.2022 Sustainability Tip Did you know that the top five items that should not be placed into your recycling bin are: Soft Plastics, Food Waste, Garden Waste, Clothes and Nappies. How you can help the environment with these five items ... Soft Plastics - these items can be taken to your local Coles or Woolworths for recycling through RedCycle Food Waste - Place it into your company bin or worm farm, depending on the food item. Garden Waste - Place the garden waste onto your garden or in your compost bin or order a green bin through local council, if they provide it. Clothes - Donate your clothes instead. Nappies - Place into your rubbish bin. Together, we can make a difference #WeAreSparrow #thesparrowway #sparrowkaranadowns #sustainability #sustainabilitymatters #reducereuserecycle #NationalRecyclingWeek #GoBeyondtheBin
11.01.2022 "Today was a Difficult Day," said Pooh. There was a pause. "Do you want to talk about it?" asked Piglet. "No," said Pooh after a bit. "No, I dont think I do." "Thats okay," said Piglet, and he came and sat beside his friend.... "What are you doing?" asked Pooh. "Nothing, really," said Piglet. "Only, I know what Difficult Days are like. I quite often dont feel like talking about it on my Difficult Days either. "But goodness," continued Piglet, "Difficult Days are so much easier when you know youve got someone there for you. And Ill always be here for you, Pooh." And as Pooh sat there, working through in his head his Difficult Day, while the solid, reliable Piglet sat next to him quietly, swinging his little legs...he thought that his best friend had never been more right." A.A. Milne Sending thoughts to everyone having a Difficult Day today. May you have your own Piglet to sit beside you

08.01.2022 NATIONAL RECYCLING WEEK This week is National Recycling Week where we are focusing on what items we are putting into our bins. In the hallway, our Sustainability Officer has created a board with different items of what can be placed in what bin - recycling, rubbish, donate clothing items, plastics through REDCYCLE at your local supermarket or getting money for your cans and bottles. By educating the children about what bin to use, we can make a difference for our planet #WeAreSparrow #thesparrowway #sparrowkaranadowns #sustainability #NationalRecyclingWeek #sustainabilitytips #reducereuserecycle #redcycle #donate #rubbish
