25.01.2022 The kindy children have been learning about the different types of vegetables that they can re-grow using water and the vegetables natural root system. The children all took turns touching, smelling and identifying the root system of the spring onion and where the new growth would come from. We repeated this process with the carrot tops too. We can't wait to see the outcome and hopefully they grow
25.01.2022 We would like to offer a warm WELCOME BACK to all of our lovely families who have re-joined us now that social distancing regulations have been relaxed. Please be assured rigorous Covid-19 hygiene measures will continue to remain in place at the Service. We look forward to seeing all of your smiling faces again.
24.01.2022 Happy educator day to all of our amazing educators. Today we celebrate your hard work and dedication. We are truly grateful and your love for the children speaks volumes
24.01.2022 There are hundreds of possibilities for our children to learn and discover with light box play. Children can explore light and shadows, mix colours, make patterns, work on their fine motor skills and investigate materials using all senses. A fun and excellent learning experience for children of all ages. #educationalresources #lightboxplay #sensoryplay #SparrowEarlyLearning #TheSparrowWay
24.01.2022 Volcano eruption The toddler children were so excited as they watched the bubbling lava erupt and flow down the side of volcano. They kept watching, touching, feeling and exploring the foamy lava with their senses to learn more about it. 'Allowing children to really get into science gives them the chance to make discoveries on their own'
23.01.2022 The kindy children have been working with the magnetic shapes for weeks now. The magnetic shapes build on a range of skills such as language development, promotion of thinking and problem solving as well as promoting visual-spacial reasoning. We have seen the Kindy children explore their creativity building houses, space ships and even producing different patters and "foods".
21.01.2022 Castle of the treens 1 of our after school care children spent the afternoon using his imagination to create a game he could play with his friend. "We are playing Castle of the treens, it's a game I made up."He then continued on to say "I always make up new games here, Pankaj loves this game."When I asked him how to play, he started telling me the instructions:"You start with one tower, then you can get a maximum of two towers, then the counters are catapults""When you add your heroes to the game, tier 1 is an elite archer, tier 2 is an engineer, tier 3 is a samurai and tier 4 is a destroyer""When you put the archer on the catapult that is on a castle, they become assassins.
20.01.2022 Build and Create! 'Lego provides tools that develop lateral thinking in a fun environment. It teaches kids to think in three dimensions. It improves literacy as kids work with instructions.... It develops problem-solving, organization, and planning by construction. It improves creativity' See more
20.01.2022 Our July educator of the month is Eman! Congratulations Eman and thank you for everything you do at Sparrow Morley.
19.01.2022 Some amazing environments coming together as the educators use the environment as a third teacher. 'It is the child's relationship with parent, teacher, and environment that ignites learning'
19.01.2022 You may have noticed some... okay a lot of boxes and new resources within our foyer. We apologise for the lack of dancing space, however we are super excited that the new resources will be entering the rooms over the coming weeks. This is our first delivery so watch this space as we start building on our environments.
18.01.2022 Congratulations to our Educator of the month Renu

14.01.2022 On Wednesday, the Schoolies made lentil burgers for lunch! Each of the schoolies contributed to making the patties. This was a long process as there were quite a few ingredients! As the patties were cooking, the schoolies practiced spreading the tomato sauce on their buns. We added lettuce and cheese to our burgers once the patties were cooked. All of the schoolies said they enjoyed the burgers, with even a couple having another burger!
14.01.2022 Science week in toddlers "Doing science projects helps develop a child's resourcefulness, particularly their skills at goal-setting, planning, and problem-solving. It also nurtures intellectual curiosity, helping children acquire new ways of asking questions and understanding the world"
13.01.2022 Educator of the month Congratulations to Rhiannon for being our educator of the month for May!
13.01.2022 Our first week of Vac Care has been a blast! On Monday we headed to the park, all the boys played a zombie game while the girls threw Frisbee's. On Tuesday we had Art Day, the Schoolies created lots of different artwork using different mediums such as pencils, textas, paint brushes and whiteboard markers. On Wednesday, it was cooking day! This has been our favourite day so far. For lunch we made pizzas, then we made 'fork biscuits' for afternoon tea. The biscuits only required 3 ingredients. The schoolies are keen to make them at home with their families. On Thursday we used boxes to create. Some of the schoolies made robots, some worked together to make a cubby house with a massive box.

We will be marking the day by coming to the service wearing either yellow or orange and donating a gold coin. We would love for the children to also participate on the day if possible

06.01.2022 The Reggio Emilia approach recognises the environment as the third teacher physical spaces have the potential to influence how and what children learn. Natural spaces (environment and materials) help spark curiosity and provide unlimited opportunities for children to explore, problem solve, take reasonable risk, and develop theories on how their world works. At Sparrow, our environments are thoughtfully curated to enhance and engage learning and discovery for children to flourish. #Natureplay #ReggioEmilia #TheSparrowWay #SparrowEarlyLearning #BushKindy
04.01.2022 The Schoolies have recently begun a new project on fruit! As part of our project, this week the Schoolies have been eating a certain colour of fruit each day! On Tuesday, it was 'yellow' day, which meant we got to try lemon! We found that some of our friends enjoyed the lemon while others found the lemon very sour! A few of the Schoolies then decided to put some lemon slices in their water bottles, to give their water a little bit of flavour! "Sensory experiences help children explore and make sense of their world. Sensory play is crucial to brain development as it helps build nerve connections"
04.01.2022 At Sparrow Morley, educators have been focusing on setting up beautiful provocations. Setting up open ended activities such as these are a fabulous way to let your child explore and create in their own way. Through observation and seeing how children interact with resources, educators are able to lean so much about a child's prior knowledge and expand on their creations and imagination.
03.01.2022 Self help skills are not limited by age! At Sparrow Morley we encourage all children within the rooms to serve their own meals through buffet and family style dining. In dong so, the children have autonomy to serve their own food they are able to start thinking about how much they want to eat, further develop their muscles in their hands as well as enjoy the social experience that is sharing a meal together. Even our Babies are enjoying being in control and serving themselves!
