Shop fit out being done this week thanks to Hodgys Home and Property Maintenance. Kai finished the painting last Sunday so its go go go.

22.01.2022 We have been fortunate this week to be visited by some of the overseas commonwealth games support team members from other countries. Its great for Manly to get visitors and for local businesses to provide good service. Word of mouth and social network recommendations are good for local business. Manly markets, great views, good restaurants, hotels and shops what more could you ask for. Pity they wernt here for the street parade to top it off. Thats why we love Manly.

21.01.2022 Sorry to our customers who have asked if we are opening Friday we cannot. The direction from the Queensland government is Massage Shops such as Thai cannot open unless it is a member of a professional organisation within the meaning of section 10 of the Private Health Insurance (Accreditation) Rules 2011 (Cwlth); and holds approved provider status with one or more private health funds. In other words its not looking after those tied to private health funds or traditional chiropractor or physio its ethnic businesses like Spawood cannot practice the same level of hygiene. Totally disappointed

21.01.2022 We were happy to stay open late last night to take care of Helen and her husband who had travelled for 5 hours from Goondiwindi to Manly. Our shop is so lucky to have customers who visit us when they travel from their homes often far away. This week has been unbeleivable with customers who have travelled from overseas and interstate. We are fortunate that Manly Hotel provides great accomodation and thats been good for us. Thanks also to our shop neighbours who also support us. Have to love Manly its a great place to live and for travellers to stay.

20.01.2022 SPAWOOD are allowed to resume operation on the 25th May with some restrictions. Bookings must be made. Customers must place their name and phone contact on the visit register. We can have 2 customers only at one time unless family. Our staff are temperature tested every morning and will wear masks. A number of other hygiene controls are in place. The main one being the social distancing in the shop at the counter and seating area. Please note that these controls are a Queensland Government requirement to allow trading. Clean Towels washed in Napisan, wipe the beds after each customer, new face protector and the use of Glen 20 and washing hands after every customer. With Coronavirus we have increased spraying with Glen 20. We ask that our customers if you are not well cancel and we can Rebook later. 16.01.2022 Nearly ready to open. We will have 2 shops open for Christmas and New Year. The shop across from the Manly Hotel will close at the end of January. The new shop is straight across from the Manly Pool in the Muir Marine centre. Thanks to Hodgy Home Maintenance and Signsmart Wakerly for the the great job you guys have done.

16.01.2022 Once we are allowed to return to work Spawood we will further improve our business hygiene plan by testing our team temperatures prior to starting work. This process assists detecting the onset of sickness including flu and currently Covid 19. We are committed to looking after our customers and our staff. 11.01.2022 We now have 2 sauna tents in the shop to help with those really deep aches and pains. The heat works wonders especially with joints that may have some arthritis. We have a few customers who have tried the sauna now purchased one for home use as they provide some immediate joint pain relief. Talk to the girls at your next visit.

The reason is that our staff are trained in Thailand (Certified Training) and not in Australia Please note below who can work. This is a directive from Queensland Health. Qualified massage therapist means a massage therapist who: holds a relevant qualification (minimum AQF level 4 (Certificate IV)) under the Australian Qualifications Framework; Example Certificate IV in Massage Therapy, Dipl...oma of Remedial Massage or Bachelor of Health Science (Myotherapy) is a member of a professional organisation within the meaning of section 10 of the Private Health Insurance (Accreditation) Rules 2011 (Cwlth); and holds approved provider status with one or more private health funds. Considering Remedial Massage has been an integral part of Asian life for over 2000 years and in Australia lucky to be 50 Years this is very disappointing that Thai Massage is not recognised as a Therapeutic Service. Smacks a little bit of discrimination. We will contact Queensland Health on Monday and confirm our opening date. 06.01.2022 Hi everyone - we are doing everything we can to get our Spawood business ready to operate again. Kai has just completed some Health Department training online for Covid 19 Hygiene. We are preparing a plan to address social distancing, property cleaning and staff hygiene rules. We will continue with the same high quality practices as previous including change of towels and face mats for every customer. Tables etc cleaned every customer. Our girls have been bitterly disappointe...d we had to close while Physio and Chiropractors have stayed open. At Spawood its more than a business, we have been fortunate to have great patrons who come regularly. We are focussed on improving how you feel by providing traditional Thai massage. Hopefully our government will allow businesses to reopen as long as they adhere to the rules of good hygiene and restricting transmission. 06.01.2022 Yesterday was a really tough day for Kai who is really missing her shop and her customers. Many have been coming for a couple of years and are more like friends. Watching the protests on TV with no social distancing and very little hygiene controls begs to question how the Queensland Health Department can keep small businesses shut. While they place us under enomous financial strain hiding behind the guise of managing covid spread they are allowing markets, shopping and othe...r health practitioners to operate. It was interestingly pointed out that as private health funds lose more and more customers that the goverment whos public health continues failure to service the public is providing prefrential treatment to these organisations. It not surprisng there is many failures as there is no common sense approach. Funny how the Governments have access to billions for Corona Virus but cant replace an old timers knee whos in pain and waiting over 12 months. Gold Coast news. 06.01.2022 Sorry to those who are keen for a massage. Unfortunately we still cannot open due the restrictions. We have written to local politicians to ask why Thai Massage has been singled out when facials, body spa and those tied to private health funds have been allowed to function. We still have no response so it looks like we will stay shut until level 3 restrictions. The decision is definitely not based on facts or science as other states are already operating. We look forward to seeing you all once we can open.
