23.01.2022 Today marks the 102nd anniversary since the end of fighting in Word War I. While we can't commemorate Remembrance Day with a large gathering, we still honour the sacrifices so many brave men and women made for the safety of our country. #lestweforget

19.01.2022 We share these great photos as a small show of thanks to all the students who continued to contribute to our Music and Performing Arts programs this year despite all the hurdles which were placed in front of them. Well done boys!
18.01.2022 Class of 2019’s Kiel Wilson did not expect to be back at school today for exams after finishing Year 12 last year. But when the state borders closed earlier this year and the Old Collegian could not get back to New South Wales to finish his first year of a Bachelor of Property Valuation degree due to the COVID-19 travel restrictions, he had to think outside the square. After some innovative discussions between St Patrick’s College and NSW TAFE, Kiel was able to undertake the ...first of his four exams today on-site under the strictly-enforced exam conditions. Kiel will be back over the next two weeks to complete his remaining exams. Kiel says he has enjoyed the unexpected opportunity to spend extra time with his family at Creswick this year, and hopes to head back to Sydney after Christmas to continue his second year of study, with aspirations to go into a career in real estate and valuation. Good luck Kiel! See more
17.01.2022 It would seem congratulations are in order for Old Collegian Jason Barnett (SPC 2000-05) who was pocketed $50,000 for winning the 2020 Herald Sun Supercoach competition! Well done Jason!
17.01.2022 The St Patrick's College Old Collegians Association is this week excited to be able to launch our new podcast series which will explore the moments and the people who have contributed so greatly to our rich tradition. Our first interview, on the eve of the AFL finals, is with Old Collegian and 1957 Brownlow Medallist Brian Gleeson. Enjoy! https://www.stpats.vic.edu.au/old-collegians/podcasts/
16.01.2022 The College's governing body Edmund Rice Education Australia (EREA) has today announced some exciting news regarding our Acting Principal Mr Stephen Hill.
16.01.2022 A new era of leadership at St Patrick’s College will commence in 2021 following the appointment Mr Steven O’Connor as Principal. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, Mr O’Connor has been unable to visit the College following the announcement of his appointment. So, in an effort to begin re-introducing him to the SPC community, we have spent some time chatting to Steven ahead of his arrival in Ballarat later in the year. In the interview Mr O'Connor talks about his plans, his past, his philosophies and his practices. He also tells us his favourite Dad joke, so be warned! Listen to the interview at this link: https://www.stpats.vic.edu.au/old-collegians/podcasts/
15.01.2022 Congratulations to Old Collegian Fr Justin Driscoll (SPC 1981-82) who is this week celebrating a great milestone as he records his 30th anniversary as an ordained Priest. Fr Justin is a great presence around the College community and regularly celebrates key events with us such as St Patrick’s Day, Edmund Rice Day and our Mother’s and Father’s Day Masses. Congratulations! #eckadora
15.01.2022 Tomorrow will be the final day of classes for our Year 12 students, marking an end to what has been a remarkable and challenging year for our senior students. We wish this fine group of young men all the best as they now prepare for their upcoming exams. To mark the occasion we thought it appropriate to look back through the archives and unearth some photos showing how these boys have grown on their journey through St Patrick's College - starting with their very first days at Year 7 camp. Ecka dora!
13.01.2022 Congratulations to Old Collegian Inspector Bob Heaney (SPC 1987-89) who has been appointed as the new Investigation and Response Inspector for the Ballarat Police Division. Will done Bob!
13.01.2022 Late yesterday the College received horrific news that Old Collegian Jim Mather (SPC 1999-2002) and his wife, Sabine, had been killed in a car accident on the Bussell Highway near Capel in Western Australia. They had been in Margaret River to celebrate their seventh wedding anniversary. The couple leave behind a family of four children, two older girls and two little boys. Sadly, Jethro, aged 7, and Isaac, aged 5, are now orphaned, and Jim’s older daughters Ella-Jade, 13, ...and Sofia, 15, have lost their father. Media reports noted that Jethro and Isaac will now be raised by their grandparents, Elke and Steve, and the older girls, Ella-Jade and Sofia, will living with their mother, Alicia. James’ family, who live in Ballarat, are understandably devastated and trying to process the enormity of the situation. The closure of the WA border to Victorians has complicated the situation for the family who are in the process of applying an exemption to enter WA to attend the funerals of Jim and Sabine. Jim Mather boarded and then was a day student in 2002 prior to moving back to Western Australia. Please keep Jim, Sabine, their children and all member of their families in your thoughts and prayers. A GoFundMe page has been established to assist the family and we ask all in our wonderful community to consider making a donation.
12.01.2022 The College's Applied Learning students have been focusing on running fundraising events this term. They decided on a Car Wash fundraiser, a Food Drive and building Bikes for Kids. All students enjoyed managing and participating in each project and successfully presented their proceeds to St Vincent de Paul representatives this morning. Alan and Kevin from St Vinnies were emotional at the success of the boys' ventures as it has been a very difficult year for the charity under the COVID-19 restrictions. The Applied Learning boys would like to thank the SPC community for their support in contributing to these projects.
12.01.2022 Today is 2020 World Teachers' Day. As such we celebrate and thank all our teachers and staff for the magnificent effort, professionalism and care they display each and every day. Celebrated in more than 100 countries world-wide, World Teachers' Day was established by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) in 1994 to recognise the role of teachers in society. This year UNESCO's theme for World Teachers' Day is, ‘Teachers: Leading in crisis, reimagining the future’. We also thank the 2021 Student Council who had the foresight to arrange these coffee mugs which were presented to each staff member this week as thanks for their efforts during this extraordinary year.
11.01.2022 Congratulations to current SPC 1st XI cricketer and 2021 College Vice Captain Dan Lalor and Old Collegian Josh Pegg for their selection in the Victorian U/19 Performance Squad. The guys are in contention to represent Victoria at the Under 19 National Championships, which, hopefully, will be held in Adelaide in April. Best of luck to both guys!
10.01.2022 There many wonderful memories shared yesterday as our Year 12 Class of 2020 celebrated their final day of classes. We celebrated a graduation ceremony with a difference and are now happy to share a few photos from what was a memorable occasion. We will share many more photos next week once they become available. Congratulations to all our Year 12 students for making it this far and we wish you all the best of luck for your exams in the weeks ahead.

10.01.2022 The College’s annual VCE Visual Arts and Technology Showcase exhibition is yet another event which has succumbed to the ongoing COVID crisis, meaning our top students are denied the opportunity to present their completed works to family and friends in the OCA Pavilion. However, we have reimagined the annual Showcase in this digital environment and now invite you to help us determine the winner of the Annual People’s Choice Award for the best student artwork. At the following link you will be able to scroll through 53 completed pieces of student art before having the chance to vote for your favourite. We thank you in advance for your interest and for your support of our students. https://www.stpats.vic.edu.au//2020-vce-visual-arts-and-t/
09.01.2022 St Patrick's College is delighted to be able to reopen our doors next week to host College tours once again now that COVID restrictions have been further eased. With Year 7 enrolments for 2022 closing next Friday, it is a perfect time to come and view our facilities and learn what makes our College so great. We are planning to host tours on every day next week and ask you to register your interest at the following link: https://www.trybooking.com/events/landing?eid=596135
09.01.2022 Congratulations to Year 9 student Oscar Jones who this summer is joining the Yarraville Footscray Lawn Bowls Club to play in the Premier Division of the Melbourne Metropolitan Pennant competition run by Bowls Victoria. Oscar will be one of the youngest bowlers in the state to be playing at such a high level. After around six years of practicing his craft at the Ballarat Memorial Sports Lawn Bowls club, the move to the pennant comp represents a big step up for Oscar who harbours ambitions of one day representing Australia at the Commonwealth Games. Well done Oscar!
08.01.2022 After a challenging year for the performing arts students we set our sights on 2021 as a chance for our performers to take to the stage. We want to give our students the best chance at reaching the performance outcome they so greatly desire and so in 2021 SPC and Loreto will not present a joint musical production. Instead each school will stage their own individual production to give us the best chance of being able to rehearse, develop and present a performance. Therefore ...it is with great excitement that we announce the Middle/Senior School College 2021 play Private Peaceful by Michael Morpurgo, adapted by Simon Reade. We have both the performance rights and streaming rights should restrictions on audience numbers be in place at the time of performance. "Private Peaceful relives the life of Private Tommo Peaceful, a young First World War soldier awaiting the firing squad at dawn. During the night, he looks back at his short but joyful past growing up in rural Devon: his exciting first days at school; the accident in the forest that killed his father; his adventures with Molly, the love of his life; and the battles and injustices of war that brought him to the front line."
06.01.2022 Best of luck to Old Collegian Ben Melham (SPC 2000-03) who is aiming for glory with a ride in today’s Melbourne Cup aboard Irish horse Master of Reality. Good luck Ben!
05.01.2022 The Victorian Government is today expected to announce funding in its State Budget for the creation of a National Centre for Photography in Ballarat. This is great news for people like Year 11 student Kade Towk who features in The Courier today talking about his dreams of a photographic career. We're happy to be able to share with you some of Kade's great work.
05.01.2022 There have been amazing scenes at the College today after a wintry blast transformed the school into a white wonderland with heavy snow falling.
05.01.2022 With end of year VCE & VET Unit commencing this week we would like to take this opportunity to especially wish all our graduating Year 12 students the very best of luck for the coming period. #ecakdora
03.01.2022 Snow in Ballarat!
02.01.2022 As promised we are now happy to share more pictures from last week's Leave Taking Ceremony for the Year 12 Class of 2020. If these photos are any indication it would seem that, despite all the hardships of 2020, there were still plenty of reasons to laugh and smile as the boys looked back on their time at St Patrick's College. #eckadora
02.01.2022 Great to see Old Collegian and 1991 College Captain Chris Henderson featuring in this video with AFL champ Luke Hodge, telling his inspirational story of how a diagnosis of MS spurred him on to greater achievements. Well done Chris Henderson
01.01.2022 Like all events in 2020, the traditional College Information Night for prospective Year 7 students has been re-imagined. As we can no longer host a night providing new families with all the information about the benefits of an SPC education, we have instead compiled all that knowledge into a one-stop-shop on the College website. At the following link interested parents can, at their own leisure, hear from several senior staff and can arrange personal meetings with each of the...m. You can also take a virtual tour, or see some of our favourite photos, or read an in-depth Frequently Asked Questions document. And then, when you have all the information you need, you can start the online enrolment application process. A reminder that enrolments for Year 7 in 2022 close on Friday, December 4.
