18.01.2022 If you’re a Speak Up kid, you know what a bravo badge is. A Speak Up honour. There are many ways you can receive a bravo badge, and to receive one is a special kind of recognition. They are often awarded when a student has shown significant growth in their performance skills, has been working really hard in class or has received a total of 20 stickers in their drama folder. ... This Speak Up kid holds a very well deserved bravo badge. She has focussed so intently in class, demonstrated a can-do attitude and put in extra effort at home to learn her lines. Her confidence has grown so much since joining us and she’s never without a smile. Bravo!

15.01.2022 We have changed the way we run our Little Experts workshops for kids in grade 3 to grade 8. These workshops are now called A Play in A Day! A Play in a Dayno way?! In this workshop students develop advanced skills and techniques as they bring a show to life in just one day. Students will leave inspired, confident and proud. We can’t tell you what will happen in the workshops because, well, it hasn’t happened yet. It’s a play that comes together in a single day. We begin wit...h a theme and some games to get our creativity flowing. From there, our performance evolves as we create characters, write the script, pick music and create costumes and props. You won’t just take to the stage, you’ll have a say in the creative and artistic direction of the day! Running at Red Hill and Sherwood in December and January. 9am - 3.30pm Book early to avoid disappointment.

03.01.2022 Looking back at what was happening a year ago we were talking about how Miss Cathy has never been afraid to do things differently! "One of the things that makes Speak Up different is that we have our own studio. We didn't when we first started, but it was always a dream, one that I realised back at the start of 2015. Yes, we know that lots of our classes are held at school venues, we're sure our workshop program would be quite at home in a church hall, and we've heard our acc...ountant lovingly suggest that our rent is rather high... but there is something so incredible about having a space that is just ours... Our studio has hosted the most fabulous events like our open days, birthday parties, Halloween parties, leadership days, showcases and Born to Perform performances! The fact that we have a place for our community to get together makes it worth every penny." Back in Jan 2020, we were giving the space at Red Hill, the Wonderland Studio, a spruce up. It boasts a gorgeous black back drop for mini performances and a colourful mural on one wall to brighten it up! And now, Miss Cathy is sprucing up our new Sherwood studio in much the same fashion. It will be another space for us to welcome the Speak Up community for all kinds of celebrations, performances, and classes. We can't wait to unveil it to you!
