23.01.2022 Learning Difficulties Australia will be presenting short Weekly Wednesday Webinars each Wednesday. Their first presenter is Lyn Stone who is well known to many ...across Australia as an expert in literacy. Lyn will be presenting her session on metalanguage. As Lyn says, "The language you use when youre talking about language is vitally important, yet inaccuracies and variations in education are widespread. Some examples: digraphs, diphthongs, blending, sight words, irregular words, phonics, systematic, synthetic - varied definitions abound throughout education. Its not enough to have them properly defined in glossaries here and there. We need to keep acceptable and accepted usage at the forefront of dialogue with teachers, administrators, policy makers and students." The session will be hosted on Zoom. It will commence at 6pm and last for approximately 30-40 minutes. Time: May 13, 2020 06:00 PM Canberra, Melbourne, Sydney Join Zoom Meeting: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/88658577565 Meeting ID: 886 5857 7565 Please use this registration form to sign up https://lifelongliteracy.com//lda-weekly-wednesday-webina/ The meeting password will be sent to all registrants on Tuesday May 12. 02.01.2022 Celebrate National Week of Deaf People with Deaf Can:Do at the Migration Museum. When: 20th September Time: 11am-3pm

01.01.2022 On 2nd December, we celebrated the end of 2020 with a playgroup at the Adelaide Zoo. The setting and weather were perfect, lots of families were able to attend. The baby giraffe was a big favourite along with the bird show and feeding the seals. We finished the day with a small graduation ceremony for those heading to school; it was a great way to end the year. Hopefully, in 2021, there will be lots more opportunity for playgroups and get togethers. The EIS team would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays.
