23.01.2022 Why don't more employers hire autistic and neurodiverse talent? Often managers have an unrealistic perception of the time and resources needed to manage and support neurodivergent employees. The truth is that ALL employees need understanding and support to thrive in the workplace, and by not considering autistic and neurodivergent talent employers are missing out on some amazingly talented, passionate and dedicated employees. So what biases do you have? Watch this fireside chat where Michele McKell, Specialisterne Consultant, chats with Dave Smith, Employ for Ability, who dispels some of the myths of employing autistic talent. #autismadvocate #autismawareness #autismadvantage #autismatwork #autistictalent #inclusiveworkplace #inclusionanddiversity

10.01.2022 Westpac is making great headway supporting neurodiversity through flexibility. By partnering with us, Westpac is tipping the traditional recruitment model on its head and working towards becoming world leaders in inclusion. Westpac’s Tailored Talent Program has four key goals: 1. To create new pathways into employment for people on the autism spectrum.... 2. To reach untapped potential with a deliberate drive to hire candidates with in-demand capabilities who may otherwise not be found through traditional recruitment processes. 3. To lead the way and be the first Australian bank to run a program specifically aimed at hiring people on the autism spectrum. 4. To find the right roles and create a work environment for people with autism to thrive through a tailored recruitment experience. 03.01.2022 Most people would agree that 2020 has been a year like no other! Although this year has been challenging for most businesses, and for people generally, it has also been a year of growth, resilience-building and innovation. Please take the time to read Specialisterne's Annual Report 2019-20 where we talk about how we have worked, and continue to work, in a very different business environment, and the impact this has had on our partner employers, candidates and Specialisterne ...staff. One thing that remains in our sights is our commitment to enabling 12,000 meaningful careers for people on the spectrum by 2030. And we look forward to continuing this work in partnership with the business community and our many supporters. 01.01.2022 "In order to give a fighting chance to historically underrepresented groups to be hired into your organization, change the status quo of the candidate pool. Ensure overrepresentation of top talent within your candidate pool with groups that are underrepresented on your team. You will find that this is a solid start on your journey to increasing representation." So many great takeaways in this article for recruiters and hiring managers to improve diversity hiring. #diversityandinclusion #diversity #autismadvantage #alternativerecruitment #neurodiversity

01.01.2022 Candidate Story Jonathon, Westpac Tailored Talent Program "The Specialisterne program has been an interesting program for me in that I had the opportunity to meet very intelligent and kind candidates from whom I learned a lot as they had an exorbitant amount of knowledge. The facilitators have been very kind and supportive to all candidates during the two weeks when tackling various workshop activities. ... In comparison to the traditional recruitment process, the two week program gives people on the spectrum many chances to showcase their talent and their personality without any kind of intimidation. The Specialisterne program does provide a path to future rewarding careers for people on the spectrum; therefore I recommend to anyone on the spectrum who endeavours to have a meaningful career in the future to embark on the journey with Specialisterne as they can provide invaluable guidance. I never look back as I have benefited and learn a lot from the two week program. Thank you to the wonderful facilitators who have been very kind and supportive from start to finish." #westpac #tailoredtalent #autistictalent #autismadvantage
