25.01.2022 Our first attendance at this gala event and what a cracker it was! Awaiting the outcome of 2 nominations; Community Club and Community Volunteer, we heard of the great work of other organisations and volunteers that are looking to change the world! Just to be included in such auspicious company was an honour. Congratulations to all the winners and nominees, you are all amazing individuals!

24.01.2022 Community Volunteer of the year is...

24.01.2022 5 games over 3 days and throw in attending the Mackay Regional Council Australia Day Awards the night before our Finals appearance; a recipe for heart stopping excitement with friendship, adrenaline pumping action and a hint of exhaustion! Our 6th year and coach only cried at the end, a huge effort in itself! All our supporters were enthralled and captivated with how well the basketballers played as a team but also with how they have grown as players. Thank you to the other ...teams that played with fantastic sportsmanship and, truly, in the spirit of the game. Thank you to our priceless volunteers and for the presentation of the best Australia Day gift EVER! Whilst there was no W this year, the athletes were champions before they even stepped on the court. The joy on all the faces says it all. See you all same place next year! Happy 'Straya Day! See more

03.01.2022 Special Olympics Mackay Fire relies entirely on fundraising through sausage sizzles and the generosity of local businesses. COVID-19 has seen a halt to fundraising which impacts our local athletes. Mackay Regional Council to the rescue with a grant that covered our lost sausage sizzle fundraising due to COVID-19 restrictions! This income benefits our local athletes directly. A massive shout out to Mayor Greg Williamson and his team YOU ROCK!
