25.01.2022 Formula Ford - still the best training ground for Drivers and Engineers. Mark worked with us when we ran Jason Bargwanna in the mid '90's. We congratulate Mark Preston on his vision and continued success in Formula E.
25.01.2022 Great memories! John Martin Paul Zsidy
25.01.2022 Sandown was a mixed bag for Spectrum Racecars last weekend, while it was disappointing for all concerned that the pace shown by Cody Donald and Cody Burcher was not converted to results, the excellent results for Ben D'Alia Racing and Ben Bargwanna were fantastic. Mixing it with the National Series field the Vic State competitors Ben & Ben finished second and third for the meeting, although not garnering any National points. In the Sabre field, amongst a number of top 10 finishers, Jake Rowe achieved third for the National meeting. We were extremely happy to see Sabre 02 driver Rod Lisson walk away from his contact with the wall with only a small bruise the outcome. Looking forward to Wakefield and Phillip Island in September!
24.01.2022 Sneak preview.... Catalogue coming soon!
24.01.2022 What a weekend for Round 1 of this years Avon Tyres BRSCC Formula Ford 1600 National Series. A pole in qualifying for Neil Maclennan was a perfect start, which ...he followed up with a win in a closely fought race! Neil then started pole for race 2 and drove perfectly and picked up the second win of the season! Adrian Campfield had a tough qualifying getting traffic on his flying lap. Race 1 was difficult as a result, as the spray in the pack made it very difficult to see. He made up for this in Race 2 making up 4 places, and picking up fastest lap in the process! Reece Lycett Racing finished 14th in Race 1 after gaining 5 places during the race. In race 2 he made a great lap time improvement and took top rookie honours! Overall a great weekend for the team, taking a clean sweep of pole, race 1 win and race 2 win, fastest lap in race 2 and rookie win in race 2!
22.01.2022 Were looking forward to racing again, the transporter has had a rebuild and is good for the next ten years.
21.01.2022 Recapping a noteworthy 2019 for Spectrum and Sabre race cars well be celebrating some of the highlights over the next few weeks, here is another! The Sabre Formula Vees have enjoyed another solid year and we congratulate Jake Rowe in securing the 10th successive Victorian State Championship for the Sabre. The Sabre 02 Formula Vee was designed in 2010 with the first 10 cars built that same year, since then we have gone on to manufacture another 11. These cars have all featured engine, gearbox and front ends supplied by Australian VW Performance Centre as well as Chassis & Data loom manufactured by GR Motorsport Electrics . We look forward to seeing continued success for 2020.
21.01.2022 Best of luck Callum Crawley Racing !
21.01.2022 Its been a big few weeks for Spectrum and Sabre racing cars. After three weeks in a row in NZ that saw Spectrum drivers Billy Frazer and Callum Crawley take several wins to now be sitting first and second in the Championship with one round to go we headed to Sandown where all of the drivers stepped it up a level and achieved fantastic results with Ben Bargwanna taking his first win and Jordyn Sinni and Tim Edwards their first podiums. A special moment after the racing to tak...e a photo that nearly bookends the Spectrum history with some former and current drivers. Pictured with me are, our No.1 man Paul Zsidy, our first race winner Darren Hossack who now looks after Jordyn Sinni, Luke Ellery who runs Spectrums in his EME team, (both Victorian FF Championship winners), former V8 Supercars drivers Steve Richards and Jason Bargwanna, whos sons Clay and Ben now race in Formula Ford and new recruits Jude Bargwanna and Kye Cavedon. The photo needed one more person to make it complete of course, Brendan Jones, who has driven more races our cars than anyone over a timeline that nearly spans everyone else there. See more
20.01.2022 Congratulations Spectrum driver Billy Frazer Racing and the Career Racing team on your championship win. A great talent ready to follow in the footsteps of previous New Zealand Formula Ford champions. A great result also from Callum Crawley, with two wins, who raced hard all year to finish 2nd in the championship.
20.01.2022 Here is another fabulous new 2020 livery, Kye Cavedon's Spectrum 015. We just can't wait to see it on track! #spectrumfamily
18.01.2022 Recapping a noteworthy 2019 for Spectrum and Sabre racecars well be celebrating some of the highlights over the next few weeks, here is another: Brendan Jones has done it again! Now a 5 time Victorian FF1600 champion in his fabulous Spectrum 011 ! Brendan has been a long time Sabre and Spectrum competitor and were thrilled to see him keeping on winning.

17.01.2022 Its that time of year when championships are being decided with Olivier Bedard and Exclusive Autosport taking out the Toyo Tires F1600 Championship and the Canadian Super Series. An outstanding effort all around for Olivier and the EA team to win 21 races out of 23 so far this season. In New Zealand Billy Frazer Racing, Callum Crawley Racing and Ronan Murphy were using the NIFF Winter Series as a lead in to their assault on the National Series, starting 13-15 September as a support to the Supercar round at Pukekohe, with Billy narrowly beating Callum and Ronan for the series win. All three drivers missed one round each of the series due to various injuries and mishaps, and while Callum was out of the action last weekend he was able to pilot his drone to put together some fantastic vision not often seen of Formula Ford racing.

07.01.2022 More highlights from Vic State Series Rd1 at Sandown; here is Reef McCarthy in his Beacham Racing Sabre 02. After qualifying P1 a penalty saw Reef start Race1 in P11. An amazing race followed where, even though he made one small error, he executed 21 passes to win ! To top off a stellar weekend Reef won R2 and R3 by over 12 seconds each. Other notable mentions amongst an impressive field of Sabres were Heath Collinson, Jake Rowe and Adam Slattery.
07.01.2022 Beanies! (Another great job from Shane Purvis ) $20 +postage, email [email protected] for orders or pick one up from the track.
05.01.2022 Great to have #spectrumfamily member John Martin stop by to share his S5000 race winning experience.
05.01.2022 Formula Ford - Still the best training ground for drivers and engineers
04.01.2022 Our second instalment of ex Spectrum and Sabre drivers focuses on John Martin . This unassuming driver competed in Formula Ford 2005 and 2006 winning the Victorian FF Championship and Australian FF Championship respectively, then went on to provide Spectrum’s (and John’s) first win at Brands Hatch on debut. John’s motorsport career has taken him all around the world and, while his achievements are too many to list here, some of the highlights include; A1 GP Team Australia driver, Superleague Formula Champion, 3rd outright at the Rolex Daytona 24 hour, 2nd in WEC LMP2 (2012), 3rd in WEC LMP2 (2013) winning races at iconic tracks such as Spa, Silverstone, Fuji, Interlagos and Austin. John has now returned to Australia and is currently competing in TCR Australia (when racing permits!).
03.01.2022 Spectrum Racing in USA ! Now that tracks are re-opening and cars are racing, were looking forward to following the Formula Race Promotions Series which kicks off at Pittsburgh this weekend. With a bumper field of 25 entries were excited to see 8 Spectrums lining up to compete. We wish all of them the best of luck! #FormulaRacePromotions
01.01.2022 Its always a pleasure to see the early Spectrums out on track and the WA duo of David Richards 07 and Dave Jacksons 06B are exceptional examples!
01.01.2022 Congratulations to the Kevin Mills KMR Spectrum Bold team for winning the biggest FF race in the world, the Walter Hayes Trophy, for the third consecutive year. A flawless performance from Jordan Dempsey saw him lead home team mate Michael Moyers for a KMR Spectrum 1, 2 finish. Moyers, who started from 10th for the final after contact during his heat forced him to advance through the Progression and Last Chance races, battled through to finish an impressive 2nd. A special mention to Michael Eastwell who, after achieving pole from his qualifying heat, had to fight back from a first race incident to finish strongly in 6th place, becoming the third Spectrum in the top ten of the Grand Final race. See the race report here: : https://ff1600website.com//dempsey-wins-2019-wht-after-d/
01.01.2022 Our third recap comes from Mitch Martin, not only a talented driver but Mitch was a valuable employee at BRD coming from the Wodonga TAFE Motorsport course to start as a mechanic then progressed to data/driver coach for drivers such as Scott Pye and James Golding.
