18.01.2022 TO OUR VICTORIAN SALONS AND CLINICS This week had been a very busy one with several interviews with the press, several government departments an...d of course many of you who have reached out to us for support. Our aim has been to help you stay calm and strategic in your efforts during these immensely difficult times. I have also spoken to several of you encouraging you in your petitioning aa we unite our voices for change. We were interviewed by ABC TV as well as The Wire Radio Station and we have had in-depth conversations with several Victorian government departments as well as with federal MPs and they have been very encouraging and supportive. We had the opportunity to stress the cruelty of the extended lockdown and the catastrophic impact it is having on mental health, as well as financially. Many of these businesses have high rents, leasing or repayments for expensive equipment, mortgages, staff they no longer support, not to mention their clients who, in many cases, have been disrupted mid treatments. We have also been informed yesterday that our submission is now in Canberra to be reviewed. It seems that nothing will shift unless the issue of risk management is addressed. We are NOT considered the same as hairdressers because our risk factors are very different, so we need a very different approach. We have worked extensively and have provided the government with solutions to mitigate the risk so there is no excuse for the extended lockdown. We have also provided the government with substantial evidence on HOW and WHY our services are vitally important to women, mothers and wives who carry the burden of responsibility of maintaining balance and emotional and physical equilibrium of their family unit, loved ones, children and often parents who are ailing during these stressful and uncertain times. Children losing their jobs and battling hopelessness and mental health. The burden for women to give even more at this time is horrendous, but who is taken care of them? Our services are not just about appearance, they are also important for stress management, immune support and resilience - they are about survival as we give women care and compassion to regain their strength and momentum for what they are facing. These and many other issues were also stressed in our submissions. Now we move to the next phase of continuing to press for change. I also wish to thank Jennifer Byrne president of ASDC for her support. We are appreciative of the collaboration. Together we can achieve more. As we come to the end of another week, We want to encourage you to stay calm, let go of pain and disappointment and make room peace and hope. You are bigger than this problem, your worth is not diminished, you are loved and appreciated by many including your industry. You are important to your clients.
