25.01.2022 In what has undoubtedly been a challenging time for everyone (especially those who rely on routine to self-regulate and understand the world around them), we have been so impressed and feel very fortunate to be affiliated with our friend’s All Stars Kids Club! To ensure that they were able to keep their community connected and supported over the last month, they decided to think outside of the box and find creative and fun ways to share their interests, strengths and though...ts with their friends. Their latest release shows how each club member used their own green screen (one of the special items placed in their isolation-club packs), to tell their friends about an animal of their choice. We were left with big smiles on our faces after learning new animal facts and seeing a number of familiar faces https://www.facebook.com/allstarskidsclubperth/videos/166471121342504/ See more

25.01.2022 Today is R U OK? day. Having difficulty explaining thoughts and feelings is even more pronounced for many of our client's. Our go to resource with many is the Zones of Regulation. It provides a visual framework to follow that doesn't require words to articulate how one feels. Development for anyone, within any skill, requires the person to be regulated first. We want our client's and all that we come across in the journey that is life, to know that we are here for you and we ...want to hear you, whether this be verbally or non-verbally. We promise to listen with an open mind , in a safe space and support you in your next steps. Thank you for all who trust us to help yourself and your families.

23.01.2022 We had a wonderful time at the wedding dress charity ball on Saturday night, helping to raise money for Muscular Dystrophy WA. MDWA support many of our clients who have neuromuscular conditions, providing advocacy, education, research, cough assist machines, social support and counselling services

23.01.2022 Today is World Duchenne Awareness Day. On this day we raise awareness for Duchenne and Becker Muscular Dystrophy. These are both rare, genetic and progressive diseases defined by muscle weakness. Currently, there is no cure available. Lack of awareness contributes to an average delay of diagnosis of 2.5 years. We need early screening, appropriate testing and more research. Together, we are stronger. #worldduchenneawarenessday

A special thank you to Star of the North Meat Retailer Michelle Nicole Quinn Kellie Amelia May Stannard Biljana Simpson Natalie Brown Janessa Oliva Jessica Anne and everyone who attended. 08.01.2022 We love All Stars and this announcement has us jumping for joy! An amazing opportunity for individuals and families who are new to the diagnosis, and can develop a network of support for those in a similar situation.

03.01.2022 We are thrilled to be going into 2021 with a new member of the Spectrum Therapy WA family - Introducing Physiotherapist, Marnie Clarke! I am a Physiotherapist with a passion for working with babies, toddlers, and children. I enjoy working closely with families to achieve their goals and support participation and inclusion across environments. I have experience working with clients with a range of disabilities including muscular dystrophy, duchenne muscular dystrophy, spina b...ifida, spinal muscular atrophy, down syndrome, cerebral palsy, Friedreich’s ataxia, Rett syndrome, autism spectrum disorder and global developmental delay. My therapy interventions include but are not limited to, exercise and hydrotherapy programs, development of gross motor skills and prescription of assistive technology. I aim to make therapy sessions enjoyable, by learning my clients’ interests and utilising toys and games. I have knowledge and experience in the prescription, including funding applications, of a wide range of assistive technology, including orthosis, walkers, adaptive bikes, postural support seating, scooters, and manual and powered wheelchairs. I believe in working in partnerships with families, schools, and other support networks to build meaningful relationships and achieve the best outcomes for my clients. Becoming a mother of two young boys has given me a new and deeper understanding of the love and hardships that come with parenting. I know that my clients, your children, are the most important things in your world. I will hear you and work with you to ensure the brightest future for your child and your family.
