18.01.2022 The need for speed Australian Army's 1st Combat Service Support Battalion continued into the next phase of a 12-month trial of a new 3D metal printing techno...logy with Australian company Spee3D. The trial, in close partnership with Charles Darwin University has seen soldiers of 1 CSSB learn the design software and physical printing technology, through to the fabrication and testing of parts. The latest achievement was the successful deployment of the recently camouflaged WarpSPEE3D printer to the tactical field environment alongside other #YourADF equipment as part of Exercise Buffalo Run. 17.01.2022 Congratulations to Associate Professor Suresh Palanisamy and the Factory of the Future team at Swinburne University on the publication of this research article on ACTIVAT3D copper "Sars-CoV-2 (COVID-19) inactivation capability of copper-coated touch surface fabricated by cold-spray technology" https://lnkd.in/gPncVX2 Swinburne worked with us earlier in the year to trial copper door push plates that fight COVID-19 at their Hawthorn campus. Laboratory tests with 360Biolabs Pty Ltd., have shown that anti-microbial copper surfaces can kill 96 percent of the virus that causes COVID-19, SARS-CoV-2, in just two hours.

17.01.2022 The fourth industrial revolution is transforming the manufacturing industry, fuelling innovation, driving productivity gains and creating new models for growth. But can it also present a solution to some of the pressing challenges of COVID-19? 15.01.2022 Building on the success of their world-first field trial in June this year, The Australian Army has again deployed and are currently putting the newly painted WarpSPEE3D through its paces during a two-week field exercise in the Northern Territory. https://hubs.la/H0tWmYh0

14.01.2022 The Australian Army has now completed the successful two-week field trial of a ‘WarpSPEE3D’ metal 3D printer at the Mount Bundey Training Area, Northern Territory. A team of Royal Australian Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (RAEME) soldiers from 1st Combat Service Support Battalion (1CSSB) overcame extreme conditions to design, print and finish a series of ground-breaking 3D printed parts in the field as case studies. The trial proves metal 3D printing enabled, by appropri...ate technical documentation and engineering processes, can support the Army’s supply chain resilience and strengthen Australia’s sovereign capability. 12.01.2022 The Australian Army's WarpSPEE3D arrives at Robertson Barracks Earlier this year the Australian Army announced a $1.5 million investment into a 12-month pilot of SPEE3D technology. The program includes the training of soldiers in 3D printing and the trial of SPEE3D’s large-format WarpSPEE3D 3D metal printer. The trial is designed to test the feasibility of deploying SPEE3D metal printers, both on-base and in the field.... Last week the 'WarpSPEE3D' printer along with the newly designed SPEE3Dcore auxiliary container arrived in Darwin and has been put through its paces at Robertson Barracks. The Australian Army will be deploying the printer in the field for multiple Army exercises in 2020. 01.01.2022 This week the Australian Army completed the world's first field deployment of SPEE3D's metal 3D printing capability. The Australian Army announced a $1.5 million investment in a pilot of SPEE3D technology back in February this year in order to significantly increase the availability of unique metal parts to the Army compared to what the regular supply chain can provide. This week's successful trial was the program's first big test and demonstrated the potential for this cutt...ing-edge metal 3D printing technology to be deployed to the field by Defence Forces.
