18.01.2022 It’s International Stuttering Awareness Day today. I’m humbled by all the hard work our parents have put in. The Lidcombe Program, a parent training program that works the most effective for kids aged before 6, requiring parents to work closely with the speech pathologist and implement the treatment program with their own child 10-15 minutes everyday! Parent involvement is crucial so thank you parents and carers.

17.01.2022 So proud of my client this morning. He never like touching the apple but look at what he made with apple and paint this morning. Food can be fun to play with, and I hope you will be happily eating it one day.

17.01.2022 We love evidence-based practice. Let us share with you this FREE app: ASDetect https://asdetect.org/ (developed by well-respected researcers from rhe Olga Tennison Autism Research Centre)... This app helps parents and carers to assess the social attention and communication behaviours of their children between 11 & 30 months. This app is a highly accurate tool as shown in the studies that 81% - 83% of children who were identified as having a high likelihood for autism by Maternal and Child Health nurses, did in fact have autism.

08.01.2022 ‘He ate 3 chicken kebab sticks about 2 weeks ago. There’s been lots going on in the family and so now he doesn’t.’ BUT... He still interacted with apple actively this morning and he said he made a ‘duck’.... Progress in feeding therapy can be very slow, parents are often under huge stress but his mum never gives up.

04.01.2022 Apple Art - day 2 His mum and I know, he does not like touching the white flesh of the apple, he always wanted to wipe his hands if he has touched it. This morning, he played with different apple shapes for 20 minutes. He made a card using these apple stamps. He touched the white flesh, he grabbed the shapes and put them in the paint and made the cards.... He said, ‘these are moon flowers.’ He is an amazing artist!!

01.01.2022 Not all communication is speech. Around 1.2 million Australians have communication disability. Though, communication disability is largely invisible. Unseen an...d out-of-sight. That’s why during Speech Pathology Week (23-29 August), we strive to raise awareness of communication disability and the important work speech pathologists do to ensure every Australian is ‘communicating with confidence’. This short video highlights some of the many and varied ways Australians communicate. www.speechpathologyaustralia.org.au/spw2020 #SPweek #SpeakUp4CommRights #WeSpeechies #SLPeeps #slp2B
