25.01.2022 Got to love the jacarandas in Queensland at the moment!!! What a great topic to talk to your little ones about to build ideas & vocabulary!! Colours, changes (green to purple); parts of trees:leaves, flowers, branches; discuss seasonal changes linked to weather terms; actions: falling on ground, budding, growing, changing - add in the comments any other conversations you’ve had with your children about seasonal changes!!

22.01.2022 Some great examples why building vocabulary understanding in young children is not always straight forward.

19.01.2022 This is great for supporting non- English speaking families through COVID medical assessments and support - no cost app!!

15.01.2022 Dyslexia can be said to be an unexpected and persistent challenge with acquiring and using written language. It is something we assess and support children with at SpeechNet Paediatric Speech Pathology Services . Love the goal of increasing awareness of dyslexia as this encourages people to seek support when needed!! How amazing is the Niagara Falls special way of highlighting the need for support for Dyslexia!

14.01.2022 This is a great time of the year to help young children learn the names of colours and build sentences that have describing words (A giant red tree now!) Brisbane's nights are filled with lovely colours at the moment! The University of Queensland with their changing coloured lights on their grounds at night at the moment is a fun way to build colour skills and describing sentences.

10.01.2022 Great Christmas present for anyone that would like Urban fantasy / fantasy book/ series!!!

09.01.2022 My daughter Brigit took part in the Ponytail Project raising money and donating 20cm of her hair to the Cancer Council today!! Such a great event particularly as we work with a lot of children with speech, learning and eating issues linked to various cancer related concerns. You can still donate to Brigit’s donation page using the following link: https://www.ponytailproject.com.au/fundra/brigitmcmahon/qld

09.01.2022 We have been reviewing our clients progress at this time of year .....to help families plan for the Xmas period & the upcoming new year.. this means we can help families consolidate the newly acquired skills & plan their child’s ongoing goals!!! I have to say I have been overwhelmed by the progress of our clients & families!! Seeing these children progress so much is why I love leading & working in a paediatric speech pathology team with the amazing Speechies & speech pathology aides we currently have working with us at www.speechnet.com.au

09.01.2022 What a lovely thank you I received today from a family of a young boy I have been helping. Amazing things can be achieved for children when the speech therapist and family work so closely and consistently together

07.01.2022 We work a lot with children with Developmental Language Disorders. It is great to see support needs for these children & their families being advocated for & addressed.

05.01.2022 Kids Play provide amazing OT services!!’ SpeechNet Paediatric Speech Pathology Services love working together with these guys in our multi disciplinary clinic!! These OT groups are really good so I’d recommend booking sooner than later & missing out!!!

03.01.2022 Some good communication pages!

03.01.2022 Vocabulary delays in young children are often addressed by SpeechNet. However we also work with language, vocabulary and writing skills in older children. The vocabulary list below is great!
