24.01.2022 Autism awareness/acceptance month is upon us once again! So, I will endeavour to share something on our page everyday. Here is an amazing video which helps explain Autism. It would be great if this was shared far and wide, so please share it and help educate and advocate. My favourite message in this video is - "dont make me try and fit in". We need to let our kids be themselves! We need to encourage them to embrace their neurodiversity, as challenging as that may be at times.
24.01.2022 Recently our wonderful Practice Manager, Jess (Roach), got married and then changed her name to Jess Hunt! So, if you are seeing emails, or getting messages from Jess Hunt and wondering who it is, hopefully this will clear things up! Congratulations to our Jess! We wish you all the happiness in the world.
22.01.2022 *Update on Therapy services* Dear Parents and Caregivers, After much consideration, Speech Pathology Whitsunday has decided to suspend all School and non essential home visits until further notice.... We feel this is essential to attempt to help stop the spread of COVID-19/Coronavirus, and to keep our clients, our team and community safe. A reminder for clients who have appointments at our office: If any of our clients or their immediate family members are experiencing any cold or flu symptoms (even if you think it just may be allergies) please contact us on 0429 043 848 to reschedule your appointment. This includes: * Fever * Cough * Sore Throat * Nasal congestion, runny nose and/or headache * If you have travelled overseas or been exposed to someone who has the virus, within the last two weeks. If you arrive at an appointment unwell, SPW staff have the right to decide if the appointment will continue as per our illness and exclusion policy. We also request that only One caregiver attends with the clients, without siblings please. This is beneficial in assisting us in our distancing precautions. We also ask that anyone attending our office refrain from eating in the waiting area or therapy rooms. For everyones protection Speech Pathology Whitsunday will: * Ensure that anyone who is unwell (clients, families and staff) do not attend appointments * Wash hands/using alcohol based hand sanitiser before and after every appointment (including cleaning of resources used) * Increase hygiene measures and distancing measures * Increase cleaning of equipment and toys (and removal of toys that cant be cleaned to current standards) * Removal of all toys and books from our waiting area * We have a hand hygiene station set up in our reception area. We ask that anyone entering our premises use this upon arrival and departure * SPW staff are regularly wiping down contact surfaces (benches, door handles, waiting room seats etc). Please dont hesitate to contact us should you have any concerns or questions. Kind Regards, The Team at Speech Pathology Whitsunday
