23.01.2022 KIDS TO GRIDS - A SNEAK PEAK NOW AVAILABLE With racing taking a back step, the youth in our sport have possibly had to take the biggest hit of all. Whether they...’ve had experience in their racing career or had recently started, active time in the sport is being lost. Our Kids to Grids youth platform has been underway for some time, and this break in proceedings offers the perfect chance to launch a beta version of the first stage of the syllabus. Consequently, the Beginner level is now live on our training platform and available for both youth competitors and parents to test out. Although still a work in progress and with other modules to come, this beginner level focuses on basic information competitors brand new to the sport need to know. In time, further development, high performance and coaching modules will also be uploaded to the site. Utilising the same platform as our Officials training, the course is self-paced, online and can be accessed via your PC, tablet or smart phone from anywhere in the world. If you’re a youth competitor who’s new to the sport, or the parent of one, we encourage you to log on to our training platform and test the beta Beginner level out now. Click below to take a look:- https://speedwayaustralia.etrainu.com/training/index.cfm Feedback is welcomed by our Youth Development Officer James Hadley. Contact him via [email protected]
23.01.2022 BACK ON TRACK As COVID-19 restrictions begin to ease, many venues across Australia are pressing on with planned working bees, practice days or race meetings, gi...ving competitors plenty of opportunity to get their Speedway fix in the coming weeks and months. We will be providing regular updates for competitors via our Social Media platforms to keep everyone in the loop as to which events are running as scheduled, as soon as we have the information at hand. Should any clubs or venues consider running events in the coming weeks, don’t hesitate to contact our COVID-19 staff (Liz Weaver and Ross Kirby) for assistance relating to any new government requirements. #weareaustralianspeedway

18.01.2022 LICENCE FEES UNCHANGED FOR 2020/21 We’re heading into a sixth season of unchanged licence fees for competitors and crew, thanks to ongoing good work from the en...tire speedway community. This is a great result that reflects the benefits of a team approach, as Speedway Australia co-ordinates a myriad of stakeholder’s initiatives, and programmes, while also working proactively with divisional bodies and tracks to minimise risk within the sport. The fact that this has been able to be achieved while we continue to offer an ever-expanding range of services is something we should all be proud of!

18.01.2022 Congratulations Alisha :)

14.01.2022 NOMINATE NOW TRACK OF THE YEAR While the government works on a set of protocols for the (hopeful) resumption of outdoor sport this winter, we can be celebrati...ng what was good about the truncated 2019/20 speedway season. Nominations close soon for the 2020 Australian Speedway Awards, which may or may not include a physical awards ceremony depending on the COVID-19 situation. One of the premier awards each year is the Overall Track of the Year trophy, which is hotly contested and sought after. If there’s a track you attended this season that put on a great show, why not nominate them for this prestigious award, won last year by Queensland's Kingaroy Speedway? You can nominate via this link:- https://www.speedwayawards.org/Forms/Awards_Nominate.aspx Previous Winners 2016 Valvoline Raceway, Sydney 2017 Premier Speedway, Warrnambool 2018 - Borderline Speedway, Mt Gambier 2019 Kingaroy Speedway
13.01.2022 ONLINE WAIVER ENHANCED We rolled out the online indemnity waiver in March at the onset of the COVID-19 crisis, and it forms one of the options for tracks to uti...lise to get people into their venues while also minimising the risk of a public liability claim. Many tracks are taking advantage of the technology which is fantastic, and we recently got some feedback which has led to a mild tweak. When someone identifies that they are a competitor, the options for them to complete now include transponder number as at least one venue intends to use the form for nomination purposes. This has also led to this information being included on the auto-generated emails, while we’ve also included the information when a crew member fills out the form too. And just a reminder that some form of waiver must be completed by everyone entering the pit area, with venues able to choose which they’d prefer to utilise. OPTION 1 SPEEDWAY AUSTRALIA APP The latest update of the Speedway Australia app sees a button on the main screen dedicated to the pre- event waiver. People planning on attending any race meeting may now pre-fill the waiver from the comfort of their own home, days (even months) in advance of the next race meeting. The track will receive confirmation of this courtesy of an email. OPTION 2 QR CODE AT THE VENUE Tracks are able to print and laminate a QR code provided by Speedway Australia to be placed outside the pit gate or entry point, much like what you’ll find at your local café or McDonalds. This QR code, which may be scanned by the camera on most modern mobile phones, provides a direct link for patrons to the online waiver form, with confirmation sent directly to the venue in the same manner as the mobile phone app. OPTION 3 INDEMNITY WAIVER PADS The old-style hard copy pads are still available, with COVIDSafe regulation requiring strict protocols relating to the use of pens, and social distancing measures around the sign-in area. OPTION 4 NOT SIGNING A WAIVER This is not an option! Signing the indemnity waiver is of vital importance to venues, divisions, and participants, protecting the sport and ensuring people entering the pit area are aware of their obligations and risks. Should your venue require any hard copies of the old-style 12-person form or have any queries regarding the new alternatives to pit indemnity waivers, don’t hesitate to contact us.

08.01.2022 NEPEAN RACEWAY JOINS SPEEDWAY AUSTRALIA Led by exuberant President Ron Kivovitch and Secretary Christine Tickner, the Nepean Raceway venue has long been the hom...e of the Nepean Motor Sports Club, hosting Sydney’s motorcycle Speedway and Dirt Track competition since its formation in 1959. A mere 12km from the popular Western Sydney suburb of Penrith, and at the foot of the Blue Mountains, Nepean Raceway is the latest track to join the Speedway Australia family. Seeking to expand the usage of the venue in the wake of COVID, the club aims to go ‘back to the future’ with an eye to reunite Speedway karts, cars and motorcycles, with a history of the trio running alongside one and other at the Western Sydney venue. The granite surfaced 250m and 390m inner circuits are ideal for Outlaw Kart and SKAA Karting competitors, together with Vintage, Junior Sedans and Street Stock/Production Sedans also well suited. Tucked away in the tree lined streets of Castlereagh, alongside namesake Nepean river, the venue harkens back to the formative years of Speedway, with Sunday afternoon events providing a welcoming, laid back feel that’s often seen as a refreshing change for many racers on two and now four wheels. Sunday, December 13 will see the club host an SKAA, Outlaw Kart and Vintage Speedcar fixture - its first Speedway Australia event in what is hoped will be an exciting summer of grass roots speedway. Check out the Nepean Motor Sports Club Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/nepeanraceway/ for more details on future events, or the City of Penrith Motorcycle Club website https://www.cpmcc.com.au/ for the history of the venue. We wish Christine, Ron and everyone at the Nepean Motor Sports Club all the best ahead of an exciting future for Nepean Raceway, and Speedway in Western Sydney!

07.01.2022 KIDS TO GRIDS WEBSITE LAUNCHED Speedway Australia is excited to launch the brand new website and home of youth Speedway training, Kids to Grids (KTG). This new... site will act as a platform for all youth training, at-track coaching and important informational links. Additionally, the Speedway Australia Rising Star program now moves under the KTG banner, becoming the highest level of youth training available to competitors. Currently, the website offers a three-tier video Q&A training platform and in early 2021 will also include dates of Rookie training sessions, held in various locations. The Kids to Grids platform will evolve over time, based on feedback from competitors, parents & coaches. A focus on in-person further development and high-performance training will also be a welcomed addition, giving more experienced competitors greater guidance and bridging the gap between beginners and Rising Stars. For now, youth competitors and their parents/guardians are encouraged to sign up and experience the FREE video Q&A training available via the website, which includes content for rookie competitors, through to those soon to move into senior classes. www.kidstogrids.org
