21.01.2022 MODIFIED SEDANS ARE BACK IN WA! Article Courtesy of WA Modified Sedans The West Australian Modified Drivers Association are excited to release the field of driv...ers set to contest the opening round of the 2020/2021 Blackman Fabrication WA Modified Sedan Series to be held this Saturday at Moora Speedway. The event, which is proudly supported by Performance Lubricants has attached a stellar field of 19 nominations; one of the biggest fields entered for a WA Modified Sedan Series rounds in some time. The field includes a number of high quality drivers, including current WA Modified Sedan State Champion & WA Modified Sedan Series Champion, Branden Fraser. Despite an ultra-successful season last year, Branden will have some tough competition this weekend, as all drivers look to secure all important season points. Rick Musarra and Luke Fraser rounded out the podium in last season’s overall points score and will be hoping to kick start the new season with a win, as will Jayke Malcolm, who won the Most Improved Driver award for last season. We also look forward to the return of many series regulars from last season, including Narrogin’s Paul Stevens, Adam Houston, Kevin Ellement, Sam McAuley, Anthony King and Allan Mortimer. Each of these drivers have shown that they can never be discounted, so look out for them come Saturday night. Three drivers from Carnarvon Speedway will join us for the racing this weekend, with Blake Jackson, Jarrod Rick and Kathryn Harper looking to take it up to those from the south. Ray Clifton will also make the long trek down from Broome, having committed to joining the WA Modified Sedan Series for all rounds this season. In addition to the normal three rounds of heats for every driver, the always entertaining Southern Stump and Mulching Services Shootout returns this season, with drivers fighting it out for pole position in the night’s feature race and a cash bonus. All of the action from Round 1 of the 2020/2021 Blackman Fabrication WA Modified Sedan Series gets underway from 6pm this Saturday night at Moora Speedway. 12.01.2022 2020/2021 SSA NATIONAL TITLES WITHDRAWN Official Release Speedway Sedans Australia wishes to advise that the 2020/2021 SSA National Titles have all been postpo...ned due to the ongoing uncertainty surrounding COVID-19 restrictions around the country at present. With no definitive timetable with regards to the easing of all borders, crowds and additional imposed restrictions in different jurisdictions, Speedway Sedans Australia in conjunction with the host venues of this season's National Titles have decided to postpone the hosting of those events until the 2021/2022 season. CEO of Speedway Sedans Australia Greg Lynd explains, "It is with regret that the SSA has had to make the unfortunate decision to postpone all five of our National Titles until the 2021/2022 season". "With border restrictions and social distancing requirements continuing to be an ongoing feature of everyday life in Australia at present due to the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, as an organisation we believe it is in everyone's best interests to not push forward with our five National Titles for this season" Lynd continued. The greatest of opportunities must be available for all competitors, spectators and those respective venues in attending and hosting a National Title, with the current situations and what potentially and hypothetically lies ahead has indeed cast the biggest shadow for all involved and across the success of all National Titles. "In light of this decision we can announce that the host venues for the 2020/2021 season will be moved into the following year with the dates for those National Titles to be confirmed in consultation with all relevant parties" Lynd concluded. Speedway Sedans Australia would sincerely like to thank the five venues who will host SSA National Titles in the 2021/2022 season for working with our organisation for the betterment of the entire sport. We thank all our competitors across our six National Classes for their patience, understanding and co-operation as we continue to navigate these unprecedented times together. 11.01.2022 The 24th Krikke Boys Shootout will be held at the Perth Motorplex. After a lot of deliberation we have decided to race the 2021 Krikke Boys Shootout at the Pert...h Motorplex for more than one reason. Initially with Covid 19 being a major stop sign to all sports, followed by the uncertainty of Sprint car racing this year at the Bunbury venue, we have made the decision to host the race in Perth. The Perth Motorplex wanted to ensure the race was still run and offered their services to keep it a "AAA" rated show. Yours in speedway Krikke Boys WA 95 for the Boys

09.01.2022 It is with great pleasure I can say Geoff Grocott's regular column has returned to Speedway World and his latest expose on Sydney passenger John Lloyd in the No...vember issue is a beauty. Also in the November issue (now on sale) is an absorbing column by John Langfield on what it was like racing against Jim Airey and company at the Sydney Showground in the 1960s. Langy writes as well as he rode and his column is a great trip behind the scenes at the Royale. But what I really want to say is I have just received and read the guest column by triple Australian champion Phil McCurtayne that will feature in the DECEMBER issue of Speedway World. It is an absolute ripper - written better than this grey duck could ever manage - about what it was like to race a Sidecar at the Showground. Phil really tells it like it was and I believe these two columns by Langy and Mac are ones not to be missed by anyone who can relate to the Golden Era of speedway. So grab your copies of Speedway World November and December before they fly off the shelves! (lol ...) Fabulous stuff Geoff Grocott, John Langfield and Phil McCurtayne ... See more

07.01.2022 S P E E D W E E K E X P A N D E D The 2020-21 Maddington Toyota Sprintcar Series has just been expanded by a round, with the confirmation that Allwest Plant ...Hire - Ellenbrook Speedway will join the series. The popular track, on the northern outskirts of Perth, will be the place to be on Saturday, January 2 when it hosts a round of the WA Speedweek Series - joining the Perth Motorplex on Saturday, December 26 and Monday, December 28, Bunbury Speedway on Friday January 1 and then back at the Perth Motorplex on Saturday, January 9 for the five-round series. The Sprintcar Entrants Group, the co-ordinating body behind the Maddington Toyota Sprintcar Series, has been working on the race meeting for some time and now it is official. SEG chairman Geoff Kendrick said a lot of upgrades had been made to the Ellenbrook facility in recent years and paid tribute to the people involved in the club for their foresight to make the club-run venue an even better one. Thank you to all the people behind the scenes at the club who have made this happen and for hosting a round of the series, Kendrick said. Speedweek is a popular series on the WA sprintcar calendar, attracting good car counts, and being over the festive season, it attracts good crowds as well. We are looking forward to taking the series to Ellenbrook and hopefully they are rewarded with a big crowd. The round will be officially backed by the naming rights sponsor of the series - Maddington Toyota. More details on the series will be announced later, but in meantime, lock the five dates into your calendar and we look forward to seeing you all there. 06.01.2022 Newcastle Speedway get green light for 2021. After a very challenging and stressful 2020, with numerous issues going on behind the scenes, including an HMRC inv...estigation from the period before the new managements took over, which ultimately gave sole director Rob Grant no other alternative but to appoint an insolvency practitioners company to wind up the company that operated the Newcastle Diamonds speedway team. After plenty of discussions, and sorting various issues out with the liquidation officer, Greg Whitehead of Northpoint Insolvency Practitioners, club owner Rob Grant can, with relief, confirm Newcastle Diamonds will take to the track at the Newcastle stadium in 2021 trading under a new company, NEWCASTLE DIAMONDS LTD. Grant added: "This certainly has been a rollercoaster of a year and we haven't even turned a wheel in anger. The challenging times we have just gone through have, at times, given myself a bit of a reality check, but I'm committed and enthusiastic as ever to ensure Newcastle Speedway continues. "I am the sole director of the new company and I want everyone to know that I'm raring to get this show on the road. "The new company will honour the benefits of the season tickets purchased as well as all the fantastic sponsorship packages we obtained earlier this year for 2021. "I can't thank you all enough for your support and look forward to seeing you all next season."

01.01.2022 VR Update November 2020 Official Release: Monday, November 16th It is with regret that the Management of VR advise that due to no easing of borders to Sydney a...nd the available crowd numbers that the venue is allowed to have at events, it is not in a position to announce any re-opening during November. As it is now known, the re-elected QLD Premier has keep the border to Sydney closed until the end of November as a minimum which obviously restricts Management from traveling to and from their venues. The current crowd restrictions from NSW Health still has the venue only allowing a total of 500 people at any one time - which is simply not financially viable for Management to open the venue. Below is the current extract of the Public Health order that relates to VR. A further update will take place at the start of December and as stated last month, should restrictions ease or change before this date Management will revisit the position regarding opening for the 20/21 season. There has also been a number of rumours surrounding the season even opening; however, both Barry and Felicity are committed to having the season get underway as soon as it is possible with eased restrictions. Once a start is imminent a revised calendar will be put in place and published with regards to updated events. Extract form the Public Health Order: From Saturday 26 September, interregional community sporting competitions can recommence without restricting these activities to regions or zones, where there is a COVID-19 Safety Plan for the school or community sporting activity in place. This includes the requirement to adhere to the 500-person limit for community sport activities (including participants, officials and spectators) and/or adhering to the one person per four square metre rule in indoor spaces. Organisations and spectators are to ensure that physical distancing of at least 1.5 metres is maintained between people that do not come from the same household. How many people are allowed Full details are provided in the physical distancing section of the COVID-19 Safety Plan: Attendance at major recreation facilities / Maximum capacity summary Ticketed event with each person assigned to a seat = Must not exceed 25% of seated capacity to a maximum of 10,000 people. Children count towards the capacity limit. Non-ticketed event and each person is not assigned a seat = 500 persons or one person per 4 square metres (whichever is the lesser). Group seating = Seated groups should be separated by 12 empty seats on both sides. Ends release...
